Mass moving

Can your bot do moves/renames too? Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire needs to be moved to Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald (discussed here). You can find the full page list at Special:Prefixindex/Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Thanks. GarrettTalk 19:14, 5 February 2007 (CST)

Help required

I'm not very good at this, am I? Anyway... I tried to add a new page to the Sonic Adventure guide, under the non-existent page called "Egg Hornet", but I failed to notice I was actually creating a new page for "Common bosses" and not just the hornet itself. I don't know how it happened exactly, as I did nothing fancy and are 100% sure I clicked on the right blank page, but now I have no idea how to shift the page to the correct location and get the empty common bosses page back... I have my ideas, but they may not work. Help? --Supremesonic 14:19, 6 February 2007 (CST)

All those boss fight articles are being put into just one article. The link you followed was to the common article for all the boss fights. For now it has just yours, but soon will have the rest. I edited it to show this. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 23:02, 7 February 2007 (CST)

Downtime

The truth is we're getting hit by a lot of traffic, all coming from *get ready* Yahoo. My guess is there wasn't enough memory to process all of the requests, and the server decided to rely on swap space ad infinitum. It could be a hack or otherwise malicious/purpousful activity, but I have yet to call that until I've investigated the server logs.--Dan 18:53, 8 February 2007 (CST)

I've checked the logs and it appears we've received mostly legitimate traffic, aside from the search engine bots and such. I suspect ABXY was the cause of the server to drown in it's own blood, so I've disabled it until I can get a good talking going on with echelon about what we can do to fix this supposed bug that's causing the server to use almost all it's memory constantly.--Dan 20:43, 8 February 2007 (CST)

Potential significant change, could use input and later assistance.

I started a discussion on making a pretty substantial change to Template:Tl and I thought I'd let you know about the discussion in case you were interested or wanted to help with the change if it was supported. link. Oh, and if you know someone who would want to help out/discuss this who's talk page I didn't leave it on, if you could let them know, that'd be useful, thanks. -- Mason11987 (Talk - Contributions) 09:00, 16 February 2007 (CST)

Table of Contents on walkthrough page

If you're wondering why I stuck the Table of Contents on Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal's walkthrough page, I did it because the walkthrough page is going to be the entry page for many readers who search for "pokémon gold walkthrough", "pokemon silver walkthrough", etc. and find the walkthrough page before they would find the main page because the walkthrough page is the most search-engine friendly page in the guide. It would be rather vague and unwelcoming as a starting page for new visitors since it doesn't better hint where the rest of the guide's pages are, which is what it's doing now. We would scare away new readers, basically. Remember, new readers will be more likely to see this page and not know that the AGN has an expandable Table of Contents, which is probably what they're looking for in the first place. The visitors want the information right when they get it, as they probably wouldn't bother with digging through the page to find the Table of Contents.--Dan 11:41, 18 February 2007 (CST)

Heh, suppose not. I don't know why, but for a second I believed I saw the walkthrough page being displayed when I googled Mario Kart DS walkthrough. Either way, if that isn't the case or is, I suppose our main guide's way of having a walkthrough works for most games. As long as there is some sort of traditional link to the Table of Contents - other than the collapsing AGN ToC - that's fine by me.--Dan 12:04, 18 February 2007 (CST)

Pokémon template

I think I understand, but what if the information needs changing e.g towns don't need the Pokémon caught table. Thanks anyway--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 10:29, 24 February 2007 (CST)

Thanks again, I'm wondering if it will be worth it now, what about notes, I've got some notes using <!-- and I need to see them, what about those.P.S If you see them on my earlier pages, feel free to delete them --Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 10:37, 24 February 2007 (CST)
Wow Thanks, I've tried it here Blackthorn Gym but to get the Wiki markup, you need to save then delete everything you don't need, I will try it on the Dragon's Den using a clean page, this will be done in a few hours thanks--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk Contributions ) 10:47, 24 February 2007 (CST)

Image renaming

Hi Prod. After chastising Shadow181, I looked through the rename page, and realized I was responsible for a good chunk of those files when I incorrectly uploaded the Zelda sprites without a game tag prefix. So I fixed all of those up, as well as 5 or 6 other images that I felt confident about doing, so that shrunk the list by around 40. Now I feel a little better. Do you have any idea how to edit the text on the upload page? Because I think if we added something to the right of the Destination filename box, something along the lines of "<- Must indicate what game this image is from!", it would significantly reduce the number of problems that we have with renames. Just a thought. Procyon 12:30, 27 February 2007 (CST)

Thanks so much for that link Prod. It wasn't quite was I hoped it would be, but it was still enough for me to make a change that I hope will do some good in the future. I wanted to make the expectations something of a checklist, since people generally find checklists easier to follow than descriptions. It's all a question of whether new users will bother to read it and be compliant. Procyon 13:35, 27 February 2007 (CST)

Re: Redirects

When making a redirect, don't put any text in the summary field, MW 1.9 gives a good auto summary. -- Prod (Talk) 16:38, 2 March 2007 (CST)

Heh, neat. I'm just used to puttting an arbitrary one to avoid the Javascript popup thing... GarrettTalk 17:00, 2 March 2007 (CST)

Images

Sorry. I'll try to fix them later. IsaacGS 20:57, 4 March 2007 (CST)

I'm confused as to how to upload them properly. how do you configure Categories? IsaacGS 16:48, 5 March 2007 (CST)
the talk pages just seem extremely neglected. Didn't think anything would get seen there. I'm assuming you mean the quest page. I just wanted to make it smaller >_<. sorry.IsaacGS 19:31, 8 March 2007 (CST)
I thought if i split it up by level it would create too many pages. They are divided by Islands in the in-game quest menu, so it didn't seem like a bad idea. There's still a lot of Quests missing. I've beaten most of them in the game so maybe i can figure out what's missing.IsaacGS 20:35, 8 March 2007 (CST)

Pokemon Move List

Sorry to be a pain but how did you do the links so quickly, I've got a problem because I had an edit conflict and now I need a quick way to put the links on my new moves (a hidden comment at the moment)--

Delete the template?

Hi Prod. Why exactly do I want to delete the template? I'm using it throughout the ToD guide, it substantially cuts down on the amount of text stored in the guide. At what point would I ever want to delete it? Procyon 21:28, 8 March 2007 (CST)

Possibly because it's for quite a trivial thing, and could unnecessarily confuse people who are new to wikis. I think that the amount of text it cuts down on in the guide is actually counteracted by the increased number of template references, which all have to be kept track of --- I'm not completely sure, but I think each link/reference in a wiki is an individual database row. It would probably be best if you used this template with subst. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 13:12, 9 March 2007 (CST)
Fair enough, consider it done. I'll rip through the ones I already laid out later on, and I'll delete the template ultimately when I'm done with the guide.

Problem

Dude, something wierd is going on with the infoboxes. For example look at the Game & Watch Gallery 4 page. There's a bunch of wierd stuff above the infobox, and the infobox itself is messed up. What's going on and what should I do?

Yeah, I talked to Dr.Bob and he said something about the job queue, when will it stop though, it's on all infoboxes and is also on the promising guide (the first time I looked at it ever).--Rocky http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/7/78/Rally-X_Rock.png/25px-Rally-X_Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:03, 10 March 2007 (CST)

It should stop soon (about 10 mins, maybe). Join us at IRC if you need something to bide the time. --Ryan SchmidtTalk - Contribs 16:05, 10 March 2007 (CST)
Yeah, I took a 15 min break and the queue went from 8000 to 2000, but I would never have gone to the site again if I saw the promising guide like that. (--Rocky http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/7/78/Rally-X_Rock.png/25px-Rally-X_Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 16:09, 10 March 2007 (CST)

StarCraft

Hi there. Yes, I'm interested in learning StarCraft better and liked the Wikibooks tutorial very much, so somewhat disorderly tried to contribute.

I didn't quite understand, why do you try to keep the history of Wikibooks? Is there something valuable there that someone erased? Should I keep out till you're done with SC (and looks like you're done)? Yeah, thank you a lot for saving Wikibooks content. --Singalen 13:32, 16 March 2007 (CDT)
