Jikai Shounen Mettomag is a linear game. You must complete each stage, one at a time, in order to progress through the game. There are 100 stages in all. After every fifth stage, the player is presented with a bonus stage. At any time, you can stop and save the game. Your current stage, score, and number of lives are saved. Doing so before a particularly difficult level is advisable. If you run out of lives, you can only continue from the last stage you saved from. Therefore, if you notice that a stage is going to be difficult, stop and save the game before depleting any more of your lives.
