Part 1[edit]

C3: When you enter the building, you will arrive in a room with three doors. If you have the antenna, Schneider will be nice enough to give you a call on the transceiver and warn you that the basement has a lot of poisonous gas. Prepare card 5, an open the upper left door and inside, you'll find a prisoner. Then use card 3 to open the door in the upper right to access the basement maze.

B3: Make sure your gask mask is on, and proceed north through the gas-filled corridor to A3 above.

A3: If you approach the open door in the upper right corner you will find three sets of plastic explosives, one on the left and two on the right, with a column of rolling barrels between them. Collect as many as you need to max out your inventory (20 at four stars). When you are finished, continue on to the west to A2.

A2: Walk to the left and approach the open door. Inside, you will find a flashlight on the desk. Collect it and exit the room. It may appear that you've reached a dead-end, but in fact, there's one more thing to discover in this room. Try punching various walls. If you search hard enough, you will eventually find that the wall immediately to the left of the open door can be punched open. Walk through the hole you create to reach A1.

A1: When you arrive, you will be attacked by a man who calls himself Fire Trooper.

Fire Trooper
Fire Trooper wields a flamethrower that has quite an extensive range. He lights it up from the alcove in front of the north door, and swings it left and right a few times before retracting the flame, and firing again. He repeats this behavior non-stop. Calling Diane for help will result in nothing more than Steve, Diane's aggravated husband, telling you to leave her alone. As threatening as these flames appear, Fire Trooper is no more intelligent than many of the other human mini-bosses you've been up against so far. Wait for his flames to travel left, and run up beside him on the right. Then face him and shoot him fifteen times with the handgun or sub-machine gun to finish him off very quickly.

Once Fire Trooper is defeated, you will be able to access the door behind him. Prepare card 6, open the door and step inside. You will have finally found Dr. Pettrovich… only to be told that he refuses to help you until you rescue his kidnapped daughter Ellen. He will tell you that she is confined in building 4. (Be forewarned, you can shoot Dr. Pettrovich, and you will lose a star as a result, but if you exit the room and return, so will the doctor.)

Now that you've found the doctor, you'll have to rescue his daughter. There are two methods of going about this. One is to return to the entrance of building 4 and entering from the front. However, there is a secret tunnel that connects the two buildings. To access this tunnel, return to the entrance of this building at C3. Open the door on the left with card 5, and proceed to C2.

C2: It will appear that you've entered a dead-end. However, if you examine the walls in the room, you can find a hidden entrance to by punching the north wall B2. If you've arrived from the left side of B2, you can follow the U-turn in the path and return north, but this will ultimately lead to a dead-end. This room will be of interest to you in the future however.

B2: No matter where you came from, all you can do is follow the paths from one location to another. Following the walkthrough, you will proceed east to B3.

B3: When you arrive here from B2, simply follow the path around and proceed north to A3.

A3: From the left portion of B3, you will arrive right in front of a door. This door can be opened with access card 1, and you'll find a prisoner. Open the door, exit the room, put on your gas mask, and follow the path west to A2, then south to B2, and west again to B1.

B1: The door that you pass along the way can be opened with card 5. Inside are rations. Collect as much as you need, then continue left, up and back around to the right to B2. From there, travel straight through the hallway until it leads you down to C2.

C2: The left side of this room holds another secret. If you punch the left side of the wall, you will find another weak point in the wall where you can create a hole. Step through the hole to reach C1.

C1: Be careful when you enter this room, as there is a pitfall in the upper right corner near the door. You can punch the north wall along the left side of the room to make another hidden door appear. Inside, you'll find two boxes of ammo. When you're ready, prepare card 6. Open the door below and you'll be on the other side of the tunnel which leads to building 4.

Part 2[edit]

You need to get back to room C3. If you entered the building through the front, you will already be there. If you used the underground pitfall tunnel, you must make your way back through the maze to return to the entrance. Then use card 3 on the upper right door to enter B3.

B3: Continue running north to A3.

A3: If you are not maxed out with 20 plastic explosives, stock up in the room. Otherwise, continue running around the corner to A2.

A2: Find the hidden door along the left wall again and enter room A1.

A1: Prepare card 6 and open the door to Dr. Pettrovich's cell. It appears that someone tied him back up while he waited for you to return. Untie him and he will give you the information you need to know. It turns out that Metal Gear is 100 floors below ground in a third building, which is 20 kilometers north of building 2. He tells you that you must set 16 explosives on the super computer that directs Metal Gear. With the knowledge, you must now do one of two things. If you collected the oxygen tank already, return to the back of building 2, and explore the water tunnel. Otherwise, you must now visit building 3.
