Upon starting a new game, you will be able to name the protagonist's family, favorite food, and favorite thing. For the purposes of this guide we will be using the names given when selecting "Don't care". You are then asked to pick a text speed and window color. Pressing "End" takes you to a confirmation screen where you can decide to make any last-minute changes.

Alec's House[edit]

You wake up in Lucas' grandfather's cabin. Head downstairs and talk to Hinawa, Lucas' mother, who tells him that his brother Claus is playing with the Dragos. Attempting to leave will prompt Hinawa to tell Lucas to go upstairs and change his clothes. Choose "Yes" as you will be unable to continue otherwise. After getting dressed in new clothes, head back downstairs and leave the cabin.

You can talk to animals; their thoughts are enclosed in parentheses. In the lower-right corner is a frog. Talking to a frog ("Save Frog") prompts you to save your game in one of two slots. You are unable to head south, so walk to the east past the Save Frog.

Claus is busy play-fighting with the Dragos and invites Lucas to join in. This allows you to dash in a direction by holding down B button ( Neutral dpad cannot be pressed to start a dash). Dash into the Drago. A Mole Cricket appears and starts the tutorial battle.

The battle is simple; just Bash the Mole Cricket until it is defeated. After defeating it, it runs away. Hinawa calls the boys and Alec to return for lunch and she sends a letter off to her husband Flint. Later that night the Pig Man Army invades and starts torching the forest.
