Health[edit]
Shantae starts with two hearts for health. Each heart corresponds to 4 HP. Additional hearts can be earned by collecting 4 Heart Squids and giving them to the Squidsmith in Scuttle Town. Health can be replenished by eating food and picking up hearts from jars and enemy drops. You can also fully restore health in the bath house.
Shop[edit]
The shop is located in Scuttle Town and is where you can purchase items and upgrades with gems. Gems can be found in jars and enemy drops. They come in a variety of colors, but they have the same value. Small ones are worth 1 and large ones are worth 5.

Version differences[edit]
The retail Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch version includes a mini game called "Super Shantae Nab!!". It is based on a downloadable microgame, Shantae NAB!, for WarioWare: D.I.Y. There is an arcade cabinet in the bath house where you can play the mini game for 10 gems.
The PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam version includes achievements/trophies.
