The characters in Skies of Arcadia generally fall into either the "Air Pirate" or "Valuan" sides, but there are a number of "others".

Vyse
The hero of Skies of Arcadia and the leader of your party, Vyse is a strong-willed and determined 17-year-old air pirate serving on his father's ship, The Albatross. With dreams of captaining his own ship some day, Vyse's real goal is "to see what lies beyond the sunset". As part of the boarding party that attacks the Valuan ship transporting Fina to Valua, Vyse's destiny takes a sudden turn towards the spotlight and the fate of the world.
Aika
A childhood friend of Vyse's, Aika lost her parents when she was very young. Nevertheless, she's very forthright and upbeat, refusing to let any obstacle deter her from a goal - especially if there's treasure involved. She accompanies Vyse on the raid on Alphonso's ship where they rescue Fina.
Gilder
A real playboy, Gilder sails in search of a good time - preferably one involving beautiful women. Meeting Vyse gets his adrenaline going, and he's keen to see what kind of adventures the young air pirate will get into. His motto is, "Women are like sunsets. They're beautiful, but there'll be another one tomorrow".
Dyne
Vyse's father. He puts a lot of emphasis on timeliness, and is frustrated that his son isn't more punctual.

The leader of the Black Pirates, Baltor is frustrated by Vyse's renown and wants to take out the young hero in order to increase his own standing.

Empress Teodora
The ruler of Valua, with hefty ambitions for her country's future. She orders her Armada, under the command of the ruthless Lord Galcian, to retrieve the Moon Crystals in order to increase Valua's military strength and bring the world under her control.
Prince Enrique
Well-read and much more compassionate than his mother, Enrique is deeply concerned about the plight of Valua's people. The increasing militarism and growth of the Armada is also of great concern to the young prince, and he is determined to make his mother scale back her megalomaniacal ambitions.

Powerful, ambitious and imposing, Lord Galcian will stop at nothing to see Valua's greatness realised. With the mysterious young man Ramirez under his wing, Galcian's unstoppable quest for the Moon Crystals moves at great speed. - 1st Admiral of the Armada, Alfonso
A man whose ambition and greed are matched only by his sense of self-preservation. Alfonso will resort to any underhand tactic to protect his reputation or better his position in the Valuan Armada. - 2nd Admiral of the Armada, Gregorio
Honorable and noble, Gregorio's expertise at defensive tactics in the air has earned him the nickname "Ironwall". A close friend of Enrique, Gregorio sees the young Valuan prince as a nephew. - 3rd Admiral of the Armada, Vigoro
Cocky and chauvanistic, Vigoro is the worst kind of womaniser, but a powerful opponent for any warrior. He especially has an attraction to red-heads. - 4th Admiral of the Armada, Belleza
The espionage expert of the Valuan Armada, Belleza always prefers to avoid direct conflict. Her father was killed during the Valuan war with Nasr, and she has endeavoured to prevent war since. - 5th Admiral of the Armada, DeLoco
Lord DeLoco is a brilliant scientist and the mastermind behind most Valuan technology, but his eccentricities often get the better of him during battles, leaving him vulnerable.
Others[edit]
Fina
A mysterious girl who is rescued from a Valuan ship by Vyse and Aika.
Drachma
A grumpy old fisherman with a mechanical arm who assists Vyse and Aika on their journey into Valua.
Ramirez
A mysterious youth who serves unquestioningly at Galcian's side. Renowned as a masterful tactician and utterly ruthless, nobody seems to know who Ramirez really is.
