You should still get Makalov for his shiny red gem but if you really don't want him, you don't have to bring Marcia.

For this level you will need to separate your group into two groups:

The first group should consist of Oscar, Boyd and Marcia. If you have not used Marcia, keep her out of harms way, because she is vital to recruiting Makalov. This group shall go north-west towards the houses in the north. Their job is to kill all the enemies to the north-west, visit the houses before the bandit gets to them, then meet up with the remainder of the group on the central island.

The second group should consist of Gatrie, Jill and Zihark. They should work their way straight north and take care of all the enemies on the central island and on the bridges. Once they have done so, push forward, slowly and carefully. Use Jill's canto to your advantage by launching hit-and-run attacks on the boss's right-hand men. By this time, the first group should have merged with this one.

Before taking out the boss, use your promoted units to kill the feral ones nearby, since they're laguz, they can't counter attack at range so Soren and rhys are your best units to kill them with. Once they are out of the way, use ranged attacks to kill the boss. the boss will not move from his position, so don't worry about him attacking weaker units. Just be careful, however, that you don't attack him at close-range because he has a good chance of landing a critical hit and killing one of your characters.
