Renaming[edit]

It was suggested by Prod that this page should be moved to The King of Fighters '98: The Slugfest/Normal Characters. I don't agree with him because so far Characters menas that the page is a character page with information about the character and so on. Since the move pages are only move pages (which is kinda logical^^) I do think that they should stay where they are right now (as all the other moves pages in KOF and basicly every other fighting game here at Strategywiki).

But this is just my oppinion ... so if anybody has an oppinion about this please comment.

I agree with you on this one Bmuig. The EX characters of KOF should be handled no differently than the EX characters in, say, Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold. They are presented as distinct command lists, but they are included in the same character page. So Terry's page will include both his KOF98 command list, and his RBFF command list, as opposed to having an entirely different page just for RBFF Terry. You can put a note in his character page explaining where the RBFF move set comes from, and link to the real RBFF Terry page. Procyon (Talk) 20:04, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
I really should learn to investigate before I reply. You have done as I explain above, so that's not the issue. I guess Prod's concern is you have a page called Moves, which doesn't actually contain all of the moves. There's an example of something like this with Street Fighter Alpha 3. The page got so huge, and the tables are very processor intensive for the server, so the page was timing out. We broke it up into two lists, Moves and Moves2. I guess if you follow the formula established by SFA3, you should be alright. Procyon (Talk) 20:13, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Thats exactly what I did :) .. there is also a page called moves and a page called moves2. The only difference is that at SFA3 the characters are splitt alphabetically while I split them by normal and secret characters. --Bmuig 20:18, 16 October 2008 (UTC)(talk)
What does moves2 mean and how would I know what's on Moves2 as opposed to Moves just by looking at the title? The rename suggestion is more for Moves2, just that Moves should be kept consistent. -- Prod (Talk) 20:21, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't have a great answer for this... only that it has to be handled very carefully by the author when it comes to link labeling (the part after the pipe). I labeled the SFA Moves and Moves2 with the characters that they contain in the TOC. If the first page is always to be called "Moves", "Moves2" just seemed like an natural naming policy. What about The King of Fighters '98: The Slugfest/Normal character moves and The King of Fighters '98: The Slugfest/Special character moves? As for SFA3, I'd suggest Street Fighter Alpha 3/Moves (Adon - Guy) and Street Fighter Alpha 3/Moves (Juli - Zangief). Actually as we use disambigation, what about The King of Fighters '98: The Slugfest/Moves (normal characters) and The King of Fighters '98: The Slugfest/Moves (special characters). -- Prod (Talk) 20:37, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
I could support that policy. Procyon (Talk) 20:42, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes, that sounds good :) There's only one more thing: I'd like to keep the ToC as clean as possible so that's why I'd like to stay with a simple "Moves" at the ToC which will lead you to "Moves (normal characters)". All the other pages (which is only "Moves (special characters)" right now) can be reached from there. Hope that's ok with you guys.... --Bmuig 20:47, 16 October 2008 (UTC)(talk)
Gotta keep links to all subpages except for template pages, so it will have to be added to the ToC. -- Prod (Talk) 21:30, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Bummer, but OK then --Bmuig 21:38, 16 October 2008 (UTC)(talk)
Can you also fix these links. -- Prod (Talk) 22:27, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
