Buttons Usage in Side-View
Left Dpad / Right Dpad Moves your character left and right.
Down Dpad Makes your character duck. You can move left and right while ducking to do Goemon's signature crawl.
Y Button / A Button When pressed, your character will lunge their weapon (or throw if using their throwing weapon) in front of them, hitting foes in that direction. When the button is pressed in combination with Up Dpad , you can attack upwards. (Can be used while ducking and in the air).
B Button Makes your character jump. The jump can be steered a little with the d-pad to help with precision.
X Button Activates or cancels the selected Jutsu move.
R Button Cycles through your weapons. The order in which they are arranged is as follows: Melee Weapon, Throwing Weapon, Bombs.
Start Button Pauses the game and pops up a menu to select any Jutsu moves purchased in that Warlock Zone.
Select Button Pauses the game and pops up a menu that shows all items that Goemon and Ebisu have collected during their journey.


Buttons Usage in Top-View
Neutral Dpad Moves your character in the direction held. Your character can also move diagonally.
Y Button / A Button When pressed, your character will lunge their weapon (or throw if using their throwing weapon) in front of them, hitting foes in that direction. (Can be used in the air).
B Button Makes your character jump. Jumps cannot be steered like in the side-view stages.
R Button Cycles through your weapons. The order in which they are arranged is as follows: Melee Weapon, Throwing Weapon, Bombs.
Start Button Pauses the game and pops up a menu to select any Jutsu moves purchased in that Warlock Zone. (Jutsu moves can't be used in top-view stages, but can be selected here, prior to reaching the side-view area of a Warlock Zone).
Select Button Pauses the game and pops up a menu that shows all items that Goemon and Ebisu have collected during their journey.


Buttons Usage in Buildings
Neutral Dpad Moves the cursor over a different option / item.
X Button / Down Dpad Makes your character leave the building. Pressing down on the d-pad will do the same thing, except when down is used to select an option, such as when selecting Yes or No.
B Button Makes a selection / purchases an item.


Buttons Usage in Cutscenes
B Button Skips to the next line of text in a textbox. Holding the button will cause the text to appear faster.
Start Button Skips certain cutscenese, such as the intro scenes to Warlock Zones and the prologue scene.
