Welcome to StrategyWiki![edit]

Hello Meneldil! Welcome to StrategyWiki. Thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, just contact a sysop through their talk page or post on the staff lounge, and they'd be happy to help. If you need help editing, check the StrategyWiki Guide or visit the IRC channel to chat, we're usually around. On the other hand, if you have ideas for StrategyWiki, bring them up on the forums. To keep up-to-date with the goings on of the wiki, consider adding the noticeboard to your watchlist.

Please remember to sign your name when leaving comments on talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to delete this message from your talk page if you like, or keep it for reference. Happy editing! — Moydow T · C · Boxes 22:31, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Empire earth 2[edit]

All pages you created with the name 'Empire earth 2' have been moved to 'Empire Earth II', to follow the correct naming procedure. Just wanted to let you know, since you're still creating pages as 'Empire earth 2'. Thanks. Moydow T · C · Boxes 07:32, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Preload buttons[edit]

The preload buttons.

In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the preload buttons located above the edit text box, which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — Moydow T · C · Boxes 07:32, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Image categorisation[edit]

When uploading images, please make sure to categorise them using the correct image categories and the guide-specific category, i.e. [[Category:Empire Earth II images]]. Please see our image policy for more details. Thanks for helping to keep our images neat! — najzereT 16:18, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Hey, great job on the EE2 guide, and thanks for starting to add the guide-specific image category. :D I'm hoping you can start adding the an image category along with it. I've added [[Category:Screenshots]] to your last couple ones, for instance. Also, feel free to name the images something meaningful (instead of screenshot#) if you want, as this might help in edit mode when you're just looking at the filename. Thanks! — najzereT 18:44, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Neutral point of view[edit]

Hi, you're doing a fantastic job on the Empire Earth II guide! Thanks for adapting the layout so quickly to the changes that have been made. One last thing I hope you'll watch out for is speaking in the first person. By and large your walkthroughs are almost completely in the third person, but every once in a while you throw in something like "I recommend...". Go ahead and tell them what to do! :D If you want a less forceful way, you might also rephrase it to say "It is recommended that...". Anyway, all the guide pages on the wiki are a collaborative effort, so we try to make sure they're written from a neutral viewpoint in the third person. Thanks for adding so much great content! :) — najzereT 17:01, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

I will, I'm used to writing guide like this, but I'll try to behave in the future Meneldil ;)
Great, thanks for the quick response! :) By the way, you can use four tildes (~~~~) to automatically sign your posts with a link to your user and talk pages and a timestamp. Cheers, — najzereT 17:41, 30 April 2010 (UTC)

Renaming pages[edit]

If you make a mistake when naming pages, you can quickly fix it by using the 'Move' tab at the top of the page, which will display a form allowing you to move the page to the correct title. Also, could you check this Empire Earth II edit for accuracy? If it's false information, you can use the 'Undo' link underneath the 'Current revision as of...'. Thanks for the great work on the Empire Earth II guide! Moydow T · C · Boxes 13:23, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip. I'm slowly learning how to use a wiki and still make some errors. I was currently trying to find out how to contact someone who could delete the wrong page. And the edit is indeed correct :) Meneldil 13:27, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

If you need a page deleted, add {{delete}} to the very top of the page (above the {{Header Nav}}), and an administrator will delete it later. Happy to be of help! :) Moydow T · C · Boxes 13:59, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
One more thing about moving pages: make sure that, after you move a page, you change all pages that link to the old name, so that they link to the new name. A quick way to see which pages do is to click on the old page name on the 'Move succeeded' screen, then click 'What links here' in the Toolbox. Usually, most of those can be changed by editing the Table of Contents page only. Open that in a new window/tab. Once you edit that, reload the 'What links here' page and change any that are left. I've fixed the links to Empire Earth II/Resources for you. Keep up the good work, and let me know if you need anything! :) Moydow T · C · Boxes 21:36, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
When moving pages, don't add a redirect unless its for the main page of a game. We don't redirect sub pages because it's unnecessary (guides aren't standardized enough to search for sub pages like /Resources; instead we use header/footer navs, table of contents, and continue navs).
