For Future Reference[edit]

For future reference, please be sure to add Header Nav and Footer Nav. Check out my edits and emulate them for future pages. Additionally, be sure to properly name your pages. --Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 16:04, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

thank you for editing my work, causing me to loose 2 hours worth of work that i tried to save and lost because you had edited my page in the process!!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SilkenJumi (talkcontribs) .

Sorry about the edit conflict you had, I know it's frustrating to lose a lot of work like that. Whenever you save your page and it tells you that a change has been made since your started editing, you can either try to incorporate the changes into your own draft, or, if you've done a lot of work and you aren't sure you combine them, just save over theirs and ask for help. The easiest way (that I've found) is to use Ctrl+A to select all the text in the lower text box (the one with your changes) and then Ctrl+C to copy it, then select all the text in the top text box and use Ctrl+V to paste over the current page text. That's on Windows; you'll have to use your own cut and paste methods on a Mac. Anyway, it's a shame you lost your work, but if I might ask...what was taking so long on the table of contents? - najzere 17:35, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

the game has 68 quests, and is not necessarily linear in the game play... so grouping them together in an order that makes sense takes time. i'm sorry if i care about this where others wouldn't but it can get confusing...—The preceding unsigned comment was added by SilkenJumi (talk

Also please be sure to sign all your comments. I personally try to use Firefox, which is smart enough to save your text in the event things go downhill. Do as Naj says and you'll be fine. I'm sorry for causing you to lose your work, but like Naj said, it happens to everyone. While edits are greatly appreciated, we do have certain formatting rules that guides have to follow. If in doubt, just follow one of the featured guides. --Arrow Windwhistler (talk) 17:49, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

well this is my first time trying this, and while helpful, the comments made here could be a little more... constructive as they are coming off a little rude which is discouraging... ~ Life is a Teardrop Crystal 18:01, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

No problem, it's always a little bit of a learning curve on a wiki, we're just trying to help. You deleted your welcome message, which had a lot of good information on how everything works, but if you take a little time and read through the Guide, you may find some useful information. Keep in mind when naming pages that piping a different name may confuse readers when they click the link. Also it means added work to modify the {{Footer Nav}} links to reflect the piped name, when both issues could be avoided by just naming the page what you want to call it in the first place. - najzere 18:18, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
I don't perceive any of the comments that you've received thus far rude or discouraging. We've all lost work by accident, and we all know how terrible it feels, although Arrow is absolutely correct. Most current browsers will store a cache of any edit box that you happened to be working on before you switched to a new page. In that way, you can simply click "Back", highlight all of your work, copy it, and paste it somewhere else without losing your hard effort. In any event, the sysops have no way of knowing whether a user is actively editing content or not, and it was not their intention to cause you to lose any work, so please do not blame them. Thank you, and enjoy your stay. Procyon 18:57, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
