Strangler[edit]

Vigilante ARC enemy 1.png

The most basic and common enemy in the game. They approach the Vigilante from either direction. If they get close enough to grab Thomas, they drain his energy. The more Stranglers that surround Thomas, the faster his energy drains. Once a Strangler grabs the Vigilante, the only way to shake them off is to shake the joystick. Once shaken off, they fall harmlessly to the ground. In the fifth and final stage, Stranglers will leap up to the girders that the Vigilante is walking on and grab his ankle and drain his energy until he shakes them off.

Red Mohawk[edit]

Red Mohawks are the first challenging enemy that you encounter. They don't possess any special weapon, they just fight with their fists. But they can take a punch as well as they throw them. It will take five or six hits to knock a Red Mohawk out. Fighting one Red Mohawk is bad, but getting another Red Mohawk or any other tough enemy on either side of the Vigilante is bad news. Use kicks to attack them from a safe distance, but if you really want to get rid of them quickly, a flurry of punches is the way to go.

Dirty Jack[edit]

Dirty Jacks are a lot like Red Mohawks, except that their knife attacks are much more dangerous, as they do more damage. And like Red Mohawks, they can take quite a beating before they go down. They like to gang up on you by surrounding you with a Red Mohawk or other strong enemy. While punches can take them out quickly, you have to risk getting close enough to hit them, and you might get stabbed. Use kicks to play it safe unless you're in a lot of danger.

Chain Gang[edit]

Like Dirty Jack, Chain Gang wields a weapon instead of fighting with fists. Unlike Dirty Jack, Chain Gang can swing his metal chains like a whip, giving him quite a range for his attack, almost on par with your kicks. He usually steps in to attack and then backs out of the way momentarily. If one of these men is approaching you, get as close as you can and take them out quickly. Having to deal with a Chain Gang along with other enemies is a recipe for disaster.

Hit Man Joe[edit]

These enemies just don't play fair. They show up on the scene, brandish their gun, then fire at your head. Since the bullet doesn't travel especially fast, it's easy enough to duck and let it fly overhead. Be sure that you do; a bullet can remove around 50% of your total health.

Crow Bar[edit]

Crow Bar is an enemy who is as formidable as Dirty Jack or Chain Gang. He walks around carrying a crowbar in his hand, just waiting for the opportunity to bash the Vigilante with it. They tend to hang out near the end of stages, trying to interfere with your attempt to challenge the boss. The best strategy is to get in there fast and take them out quickly before they can become a problem, before more than one gangs up on you.

Hell's Angel[edit]

You will only encounter these bikers on the third stage as you walk across the bridge. Each Hell's Angel will drive towards you from one direction or the other. The only way to avoid taking damage from them is to perform a jump kick at just the right moment to kick them off their bikes. At that point, their bike will go skidding down into the ground and explode. Get clear of the bike; if you are standing next to it when it explodes, you will take some damage.
