Namco's Japan-only 1989 vertical scrolling shooter arcade game Blast Off is divided into six worlds, each one comprised of three areas. The first area of each world will see you piloting the Star Fighter at its normal size towards that respective world's enemy base, destroying as many enemies as possible along the way; and once you have reached the base, the game will proceed to the world's second area, which will see you trying to survive a small assault of E-Type Missiles (which are one of only five enemy types in this game that appeared in the original Bosconian arcade game) before proceeding to destroy any Beam, Mouth, and Missile Launchers that are guarding the entrance to the base. Once all of the entrance-guarding enemies have been destroyed, the game will proceed to the world's third area, which will see the Star Fighter undergoing a significant increasing in its size and flying through the base towards that world's boss character, destroying as many enemies as possible along the way once again. You should also watch out for the "indestructible" objects that are in some of these areas - they are invulnerable to the Star Fighter's shots (indicated by them dissipating against them) and will kill if it flies directly into them. Once you have reached the end of the area, the boss character will reveal itself and its protective cannons will emerge from the nearby trapdoors (which are marked with the letter "H"); the boss will then start to fire an array multicoloured balls at you, while its protective cannons will fire some slow-moving projectiles which are similar to those fired by the White and Green Tanks. These cannons should be destroyed as quickly as possible, as this will cause the boss to stop firing for a few seconds and the time can be used as an opportunity for you to get in some extra hits before it starts firing again. Once the boss has been destroyed, any of its multi-coloured balls that are currently on screen will explode - and the Star Fighter will then proceed to escape from the base, just before it blows up. You will then receive a 20000-point bonus as the Star Fighter travels on to the next world and returns to its normal size, along with a "rest bonus" after World 6-3.
