Revision as of 14:59, 29 March 2009

Day Two: Court Mode

Before the Trail

You get a call from de Killer, who tells you he will bring a "present" to help you win this case. What could it be?

Inside the courtroom, you will notice von Karma is absent. What happened? Bailiff comes in and say von Karma has been shot! Could this be the present de Killer was talking about? Whatever it is, it must be helpful without a prosecution.

However, Edgeworth comes in. He tells the court that von Karma is alive and well and he will be taking her place. Seriously? Well so much for a "present" but hey, Phoenix vs. Edgeworth!

Edgeworth calls Gumshoe to the stand and has him describe the facts of the case.

Gumshoe's Testimony: Bare Facts of the Case

Gumshoe
Gumshoe
Gumshoe's Testimony
- Bare Facts of the Case -
  1. This murder happened after the Hero of Heroes award ceremony, sir.
  2. The victim, Juan Corrida, was found dead in his hotel room.
  3. After looking into the cause of death, we believe he was definitely murdered, sir.
  4. At first, we thought there was something suspicious about the empty guitar case.
  5. However, we later found out that the guitar case had nothing to do with the murder.

Bare Facts of the Case: Cross-Examination

Press on statement 3. Gumshoe will show you the crime photo. If you look closely to his bandana, you will see that it's wrapped tightly around Corrida's neck. It looks like he died of strangling, but what about the knife? Gumshoe claims it was put there on purpose after the crime. The Autopsy Report will be added to the Court Record.

Press on the 4th statement. The guitar case was suspicious because it was empty. They only found Corrida's fingerprints. The Guitar Case will be updated to the Court Record.

Press on the 5th statement. They found the guitar at the TV studio Corrida works at. He only brought the case with him, but why?

Edgeworth hears enough. He states that Corrida was strangled to death, yet there was a knife on the body. Edgeworth has Gumshoe testify about Engarde's arrest.

Gumshoe's Testimony: Why Arrest Engarde?

Gumshoe
Gumshoe
Gumshoe's Testimony
- Why Arrest Engarde? -
  1. Matt Engarde and Juan Corrida were huge rivals with each other.
  2. They each thought the other guy was "in his way." That's motive in my book.
  3. As for evidence... There's the Jammin' Ninja's button.
  4. It was ripped off of the ninja costume and was found in Mr. Engarde's "hakama."
  5. The defendant's fingerprints were also all over the knife.
  6. The defendant bought the knife for the crime... Which makes this a premeditated murder!

The Knife will be added to the Court Record. If you check it, it says "Gatewater" on it. The button has blood on it. Gumshoe says it was the victim's! The Jammin' Ninja's Button will be added to the Court Record.

Why Arrest Engarde?: Cross-Examination

Pressing the 3rd statement (about the button) will get you nowhere, so instead, Present the Knife on the 6th statement. It says "Gatewater" on it, so the murderer couldn't just purchased at the place where the knife belongs, so it couldn't be a premeditated murder. Edgeworth however, says the knife belonged to Engarde's Hotel Room. Remember, there was a knife missing on Engarde's table. Engarde probably took the knife to stab Corrida in the chest.

Darn, a trap. Edgeworth challenges you to present evidence to counter his claim. When asked if you would say Actually, I do. Present the Wine Glass. If you look at the crime scene, there is a complete mess, probaby due to the struggling. However, the wine glass is intact. Edgeworth sees no importance, as the wine glass was set down by Adrian Andrews, the woman who discovered the scene. He suspects she set it down after the crime without thinking. When asked if you agree, say There's no way....

Andrews could not have set it down. Probably someone else? Edgeworth says they found Andrews' fingerprints and no one else's. The Wine Glass will be added to the Court Record. Andrews probably set it down after being shocked upon seeing Corrida's dead body. Darn, another trap. It looks like Edgeworth had provided explainable evidence, but he isn't done yet as he has a witness. Edgeworth calls Wendy Oldbag to the stand.

After a long and humorous conversation, Edgeworth has Oldbag testify what she saw.

Oldbag's Testimony: What You Witnessed

Oldbag
Oldbag
Oldbag's Testimony
- What You Witnessed -
  1. Anyway, after the ceremony, I went to pace around in the hallway in front of his room.
  2. There was something I was interested in finding out, you know...
  3. Well, since I was on the job, I made sure to keep a good eye out the whole time.
  4. That's when someone showed up! It was a man coming out of poor Juan's room.
  5. It was Engarde. Matt Engarde. He was trying to sneak his way out of Juan's room!

What You Witnessed: Cross-Examination

Press on the 2nd statement. Oldbag says it is about her and Corrida. It sounds interesting, but Mia doesn't feel it is the right time to pursue this further.

Press on Oldbag's 5th statement. How can she tell she saw Engarde? You can't make the same mistake as last year, so when given a choice, choose The person's clothes. Oldbag says Engarde was wearing his racing jacket. The same jacket you saw down at the Detention Center.

The Judge asks you if Oldbag said something important, say It's very important. Oldbags adds the jacket to her testimony.

  • He was wearing his flashy racing jacket. Honestly, it's all just for show.

Present the Jammin' Ninja's Button on that statement. The button was caught on Engarde's pants. If Engarde was wearing the jacket as Oldbag saw, then how did it end up on the pants? Oldbag then testifiess on what she really saw.

Oldbag's Testimony: Who I Saw

Oldbag
Oldbag
Oldbag's Testimony
- Who I Saw -
  1. Engarde... Engarde... Yes, now I remember!
  2. The Nickel Samurai, that's right, it was the Nickel Samurai that I saw!
  3. Yes, it would have been convenient for him to wear his costume during the murder.
  4. He had to go to that post-ceremony stage show right after the crime, you know.
  5. So he must've worn that Nickel Samurai costume when he was stabbing poor Juan.

Who I Saw: Cross-Examination

This is a rather easy one. Present the Knife on Oldbag's 5th statement. If Engarde was wearing the Nickel Samurai costume on his way to his room, he wouldn't leave fingerprints, because the costume includes gloves. Edgeworth says the murderer probably took off his gloves before he committed the murder and supports it by saying Engarde was talking with Corrida and had no intention of killing him. When given a choice, choose There is a contradiction.

When asked to support your claim, Present the Knife. If Engarde went to Corrida's room without any intent, then he might not have brought his knife, and if Engarde was wearing gloves, then there wouldn't be any fingerprints on the knife. So the real killer set up the crime to mislead us. Why? To frame Engarde of course! After a conversation, Oldbag will now admit she was waiting for someone other than Corrida. When asked who, Present Adrian Andrew's Profile. She was waiting for Ms. A.A.!

Oldbag will now testify about this "secret information" she had been holding. Mia doesn't have very good hopes up.

Oldbag's Testimony: Secret Information

Oldbag
Oldbag
Oldbag's Testimony
- Secret Information -
  1. That Engarde is one evil, evil man!
  2. He thought he could ruin poor Juan by causing a huge scandal!
  3. So to do that, he sent his own manager to get in close with Juan!
  4. I cannot condone such dirty tricks! So I took action!
  5. ...Oh, and this is top secret, you got that!? Nobody else but you and me know yet, OK?

Secret Information: Cross-Examination

Press on the 5th statement. How does Oldbag know about this secret information? Oldbag doesn't talk, so when given a choice, choose Present evidence, then Present Lotta's Camera. Lotta has written not "outrageous ideas", but "impressions" on the meeting, so what Lotta has written was meaningless.

Oldbag now admits she took Lotta's information, because she thinks Lotta was working for Engarde, so Oldbag wanted to get the information. Oldbag looks very sorry, but Pile on more pressure on her. Oldbag said she only took the information, but you know she is lying, as she took something with it. When asked what, Present Lotta's Camera. Lotta said she had a case containing both the information, AND the camera, and she also said both "disappeared" on her. Oldbag gives in and shows the camera itself. The court takes it and investigates it.

They found one relevant picture, it looks like the Nickel Samurai heading towards Corrida's room! Lotta's Photo will be added to the Court Record. It looks decisive. When asked if you agree, say there's something strange with it. You given one chance to prove so. One chance! You examine the photo. Present the feet area of the Nickel Samurai. If you look at the posters, The Nickel Samurai's socks are showing, in the photo however, he is holding his hakama up as he walks, Engarde had no problems since he is taller, so someone other than Engarde was in the costume!

It seems you have disproved Edgeworth's claims, but Mia says Edgeworth is unusually calm, why? Edgeworth wants you to show who exactly was in the costume that night. Present Adrian Andrews' Profile, since she is noticeably shorter than Engarde, she can move freely in and out of Engarde's room, she had dinner with Engarde that night, and finally, she was at the crime scene. So Andrews may had opportunity to murder Corrida and frame Engarde for it!

You have proven Andrews' opportunity, but Mia brings bad news: what you have proven has prompt The Judge to have Andrews testify, so he would adjourn court for tomorrow. No! Doing so would kill Maya! You are given a choice... It doesn't matter which, since Edgeworth will request to prolong the trial, as he expected you to subpoenate Andrews. This is bad news, but the good news is The Judge calls a recess rather than going for tomorrow, so you should thank Edgeworth and shake your fist at him at the same time.

Court Mode: Part 2

Recess

Engarde says he was asleep when the crime occurred, and Andrews woke him up after putting the button on his costume. Mia then tells you something. Recall Andrews' motive, Celeste Inpax (if you remember her) committed suicide and police says Corrida hid the note she left, and Andrews always looked up to Celeste, so she would do anything to get the note from Corrida, even to kill him! Mia then reminds you that Edgeworth told you, so he still runs the case.

Edgeworth calls Andrews to the stand. She admits to her relationship with Corrida and doesn't want the court to speak about it. She claims she didn't kill him.

Andrews' Testimony: When I Found the Body

Andrews
Andrews
Andrews' Testimony
- When I Found the Body -
  1. It was time for the show to start, so I went to get Matt from his room.
  2. After that, I went to Juan's room.
  3. And there was his dead body. I... I was in shock...
  4. What I saw was, naturally, the exact same scene as in the crime scene photo.
  5. I felt as though I was about to faint, so I poured myself a glass of juice.

Mia advises you that you would progress by showing strong evidence after leading Andrews off guard, so you would need to press Andrew's statements for loopholes.

When I Found the Body: Cross-Examination

Press on Andrews' 3rd statement. Nothing will come out, but this will make things easier (trust us on this one).

Now Press on her 5th statement. Andrews will say she did pour some juice, but didn't feel good, so she set it down without thinking.

Andrews will now say she made a mistake on "one thing". You ask her what, but she doesn't answer. Press further Andrews will say she knocked over a flower vase as she put her drink down. The vase fell on the guitar case. This confession will be added to the testimony.

  • I was the one who knocked the flower vase over, where it fell onto the guitar case.

Present the Guitar Case on that statement. If you look at the crime photo, you will see that the case is open. So, if the vase fell on the guitar case, the guitar case should be wet on the inside. If you look at the crime photo again, you see the glass shards everywhere, but they should be inside the case. Therefore, if the case was open, someone could have touched it Edgeworth reminds you that Andrews says that she touched the vase and nothing else, but what if she did touch the guitar case? When given the option, choose make her testify.

Andrews' Testimony: The Guitar Case

Andrews
Andrews
Andrews' Testimony
- The Guitar Case -
  1. I don't remember too clearly because I was a bit dazed.
  2. I suppose I must have opened the guitar case... after I knocked the vase over.
  3. It's not a big deal though, right? The case was empty after all.
  4. As for why I opened the case... Even I don't know.

The Guitar Case: Cross-Examination

Present the Guitar Case at either the 2nd 3rd or 4th statements. She could not have opened the guitar case because they only found Corrida's fingerprints. Andrews will explain that she was wearing gloves. Hmm, That's strange... Present the Wine Glass. Her fingerprints were found on it, so it would be strange that she took off her gloves to pour some juice and put them back on afterwords, just to open the guitar case.

Mia now says you have found a weak point, the guitar case. She thinks something other than a guitar was in the guitar case. Remember, the case was closed by the time the murder occurred, and when the crime photo was taken, the case was open, so Andrews must have opened the case for a reason. When asked to present the thing that was in the case, Present either The Nickel Samurai, or Lotta's Photo. Andrews found the Nickel Samurai costume, so she must have used it to hide her identity, as proven in Lotta's Photo. Edgeworth asks why would The Nickel Samurai costume be in Corrida's room. It was supposed to be Engarde's. When given the options, choose It was a spare costume.

Engarde was wearing the costume, but at the same time, Andrews found the costume inside the Jammin' Ninja's guitar case, so there were TWO costumes. But, why would he bring the costume with him? Present the Press Conference Ticket. Engarde was supposed to attend a press conference, but he had no idea there was one. So, the one who set up the conference must have been Corrida, because he was going to be there with the Nickel Samurai Costume. Some say The Nickel Samurai was going to confess something, but if Corrida was the one confessing, but not Engarde, then that would be public disclosure!

Adrian will explain Corrida's motive, if he lost the Grand Prix, then he is taking Engarde down with him by telling the public his deep dark secret. Corrida had been holding a secret so powerful, it would destroy Engarde's acting career. She doesn't quite know what it is. She helped Corrida set up the Grand Prix, but now she feels as if she was protecting Engarde. Time for another testimony.

Andrews' Testimony: Protecting Matt

Andrews
Andrews
Andrews' Testimony
- Protecting Matt -
  1. From the moment I saw the crime scene, I had a feeling that Matt was the murderer.
  2. Matt had to kill Juan no matter what.
  3. And he didn't have an alibi for what he was doing at the time of the murder.
  4. My thoughts were confirmed by the evidence, of course; the button and the knife...
  5. But I'm Matt's manager... So I felt I had to protect him...

Protecting Matt: Cross-Examination

Press on the 4th statement. She will add a new statement.

  • My thoughts were confirmed by the evidence, of course; the button and the knife...

Present Juan's Autopsy Report. According to the report, Corrida was strangled to death, so the knife was planted after the crime. If that is true, then the button would have been pulled off at the same time. The court will ask if the the murder did all of it, why would he/she? Answer, To pin the crime to Engarde. When asked who would do such a thing, Present Adrian Andrews' Profile.

Phoenix describes the evidence against Andrews:

The knife was planted with Engarde's fingerprints all over it after Corrida's death so it is obvious that someone was framing him, the button was pulled off with Corrida's blood and put on Engarde's hakama to frame him, someone put on the Nickel Samurai costume to ensure Engarde gets implicated, Andrews' fingerprints weren't found on the guitar case but on the glass of juice next to Corrida's body, and finally, someone wearing the Nickel Samurai costume seemed short, and Andrews looks short enough for his pants to sag. Andrews was the one who discovered the body, so if all of that is true, Andrews could be the real killer and went great lenghs to frame Engarde.

Andrews refuses to testify against your claims, as it would makes things even worse for herself. The Judge agrees as it is the law. Edgeworth meanwhile, confirms that though you have proven Andrews' opportunity, you have yet to prove her motive. Does this mean the trial would continue tomorrow!? You object and inadvertly mention Maya. Hearing this, Edgeworth again convinces The Judge to prolong the trial. He finds it odd the Andrews poured a glass of juice after discovering Corrida's dead body, she would be too shaken to stir the drink. Edgeworth wants Andrews to testify about his curiousity.

Andrews' Testimony: When I Found the Body

Andrews
Andrews
Andrews' Testimony
- When I Found the Body -
  1. That glass of juice... I didn't really pour it for myself.
  2. I was surprised when I walked into the the room and saw it in that messy state.
  3. And Juan... He was sitting slumped over and tired-looking in the corner.
  4. When I saw him sitting like that, the thought that he was dead didn't cross my mind.
  5. To be honest, I thought he had just fainted or something. So I went to pour him some juice.
  6. When I realized that he was dead... That's when I knocked the flower vase over.

When I Found the Body: Cross-Examination

Present the Crime Photo on statements 4, 5, or 6. The crime photo has a knife sticking inside Corrida, so when Andrews discovered it, she planted a knife after thinking Corrida wasn't dead. Her testimony, as predicted, implicates Andrews as the real killer.

Andrews however pleads that she didn't do so. The Judge asks her what she is hiding. She refuses to testify, because someone told her not to. Mia suggests Franziska von Karma, she thinks she told Andrews to not testify as it would get Engarde acquitted. Andrews now believes von Karma's words, and threatens to "choose death" if she talks more. But taking that advice would be even worse and Engarde would be acquitted anyways. When given the choice, choose Force Andrews to testify. With encouragements from Edgeworth, Andrews finally agrees to tell the truth. This looks bad.

Andrews' Testimony: My "Crime"

Andrews
Andrews
Andrews' Testimony
- My "Crime" -
  1. When I first saw him... I really thought he had fainted. Honest.
  2. When I realized he was dead... That was when I formulated my plan.
  3. Once I made sure there was no one in the hallway, I made a dash back to Matt's room.
  4. And then... I stabbed Juan's dead body with the knife, and ripped off the button.
  5. Just when I finished and was returning to Matt's room... I had a bit of an inconvenience.
  6. And that's why... That's why I ended up using the Nickel Samurai costume.

My "Crime": Cross-Examination

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Andrews' testimony. Even Mia couldn't find a single drop of lies. Press on all of Andrews' statements anyways:

1st statement: His scarf he was strangled with was part of the Jammin' Ninja costume.

2nd statement: Andrews suspected Engarde, because Corrida was about to reveal Engarde his deep dark secret. Engarde committed the murder because he knew it would happened

3rd statement: Matt was sleeping and the knife was covered with his fingerprints. Andrews thought she'd use it to implicate Matt.

4th statement: When Andrews stabbed Corrida, she noticed the blood-spilled button thought she would tear it off and put it on Engarde's hakama.

5th statement: Inconvenience? Edgeworth reminds you that Lotta and Oldbag saw Andrews come out of Corrida's door.

6th statement: Andrews reveals that she was the one that ordered the costume, because she was following Corrida's request. She'd thought she used to, you guessed it, frame Engarde.

After pressing all of the statements Andrews tells you she framed Engarde, because she knew Engarde did it.

The Judge has enough, though Andrews did something unlawful, her testimony still stands and now knows she is not the real killer. Even Edgeworth says it's pointless to continue.

Therefore there is absolutely no reason to question Andrews further and no evidence to implicate Andrews more. For those conditions, The Judge, to your horror, extends the trial for tomorrow. Note the sound of the slamming gavel.

After the Trial

The Judge leaves his post and you ponder for Maya's safety. Edgeworth asks one more question to Andrews: The card she is holding, where and when did she find it? Andrews answers: As she was rearranging the crime scene, Andrews found the card right next to Corrida's dead body. She thought she'd keep it in her handbag. Hearing this, Edgeworth yells at Andrews and harshly demands her to give it to him. Why? What is so important about it?

Day Two: Investigation Mode

Wright & Co. Law Offices

Mia has left Pearl's body. Now you need to investigate what really happened and find out about the card. As for Maya, don't worry about her. Though Engarde wasn't acquitted for one day, neither he was convicted. Just by that, the kidnapper will let Maya live for one more day. That's good news. Gumshoe will then pay a visit. Talk to Gumshoe:

The future: Well, Gumshoe is fired, so he will say that he will work here.

Edgeworth: Gumshoe says he had never seen Edgeworth act so cruel, not caring if Andrews commits suicide. Speaking of Andrews, though her last testimony sounds truthful, but you still wonder that it is not right. You then Remember von Karma. She shot, so was she doing?

Franziska von Karma: Gumshoe will tell you von Karma is being treated at the Hotti Clinic (not there again).

After talking, Move to the Hotti Clinic.

Hotti Clinic

You see Directer Hotti, then Edgeworth, and finally, von Karma. Talk to von Karma:

The shooting: Von Karma says she was shot on her way to the court room. She wanted to lead the court anyways, but Edgeworth dragged her to the clinic. Edgeworth did so because of a "deal" von Karma bring up.

The deal: Von Karma looks like she is denying making a deal with Andrews.

You tell von Karma she and Andrews made a deal, just by that, Andrews almost got herself convicted. Von Karma leaves, leaving you, Pearl, and Edgeworth alone. Talk to Edgeworth:

Today's trial: Edgeworth seemed very cruel to Andrews. Edgeworth says he is used to putting his life on the line.

Adrian's card: The card Andrews was holding belongs to an assassin named "Shelly de killer". The Picture Card will be added to the Court Record.

Assassin: Edgeworth tells you the story of de Killer and his family. When de Killer claims a victim, he usually leaves a card similar to the one you are holding. The card lets police know that he is the killer. So if Andrews found the card near Corrida's body, then de Killer must be the real murderer. De killer is quite honorable, so he does his job if he knows his clients trust him.

Maya's situation: You finally tell Edgeworth about the kidnapping.

Edgeworth reveals to you something rather ugly, Shelly de Killer killed Corrida, and his client is none other than YOUR client, Matt Engarde! That can't be true! You didn't see a Psyche-Lock around him. Maybe you didn't ask the proper question?

The police have authority to the Hotel, so Edgeworth you give you the Letter of Introduction, which will be added to the Court Record.

We now leave Phoenix and once again walk in Maya's shoes (or maybe flip-flops)

???

We start off where we last left Maya. She found the card on the ground and wonders if she could use it to open the door, it does. Move to ????

????

Another mystery room. It looks like it's full of electronics. Take a look around. Examine the following items (from left to right):

  • The antenna - What's it doing here? You find a VCR.
  • Picture frame - There is a picture of a pretty woman. On the back it says "With love - Celeste" Celeste? Sound familiar?
  • The door - It's locked, and it doesn't look like the card helps. There is a hole, but not small enough for Maya to crawl through.
  • The sofa - There is a teddy bear on it, and it looks like it's ripped all over.

Just then, the kidnapper himself appears...

Hotti Clinic (2)

We return to Phoenix's POV.

Move to the Detention Center.

Detention Center

You won't see Engarde there, but one of the jailers gives you a note saying Engarde has something very important to tell you. Engarde himself appears and asks you a favor: to feed his cat at his house near the Gatewater Hotel. Engarde gives you Matt's Note which will be added to the Court Record.

Move to Engarde's Living Room, accessible from the Lobby. You will see Oldbag along the way, ignore her for now.

Engarde's Living Room

You see Shoe, Engarde's cat. You then meet a rather familiar looking man, who claims to be Engarde's butler. He introduces himself as John Doe. Talk to Doe about all of the available options. Nothing important will come out since Doe seems evasive about his answers. Matt's Note will be removed from the Court Record.

Move to the Hotel Lobby.

Hotel Lobby

Present the Letter of Introduction to Oldbag. She will let you pass. The Letter of Introduction will be removed from the Court Record. You now have access to every room ecxept Engarde's room.

Move to the Hallway.

Hallway

You will see Lotta there. Talk to Lotta:

Night of the murder: Lotta will admitt that she wasn't wondering around the hallway the whole time, neither was Oldbag.

Scandal: Lotta will admitt what she had written on her tabloid was just her opinion so even she thinks it's meaningless.

Camera: Lotta tried hard to get Edgeworth to give back her camera, but he refused since it's important evidence.

Lotta will leave after talking. Move to Corrida's Hotel Room.

Corrida's Hotel Room

Oh geez! It's an ali- oh wait, it's Oldbag. Oldbag is still mourning Corrida's death in here. Talk to Oldbag:

Night of the murder: Oldbag seems to be blaming Lotta for her mishaps for today's trial. (Can you blame her?)

Memories with Corrida: Oldbag says that Corrida would be a very huge star if it weren't for Engarde. He even hasd a mountain of presents. All of which are bears.

Presents: According to his autobiography, Corrida once fought a bear bare-handed, though he let the bear win, since then, fans everywhere had been giving him bears.

Just then, you get a call from the kidnapper, who just heard that you weren't able to get the acquittal in one day. You plead with him to give you one more day. The kidnapper, to your relief, takes your plea. You want to hear Maya again, but suddenly, the transceiver breaks down and the reception goes dead, what happened?

You should talk to Gumshoe about this. Move to the Wright & Co. Law Offices.

Wright & Co. Law Offices (2)

Present the Radio Tranceiver to Gumshoe. You try to show him the tranceiver broke down, but it is suddenly fixed. What? Gumshoe suspects it is "electromagnetic interference".

Talk about the Electromagnetic interference. Gumshoe explains that it is when a radio wave gets mixed up with a stronger signal. Gumshoe concludes that something in Corrida's room must be causing the radio to lose it's reception. He goes to Corrida's room to offer you help with a "bug sweeper".

Return (Move) to Corrida's Hotel Room.

Corrida's Hotel Room (2)

Gumshoe arrives with the bug sweeper. He couldn't get one from the precinct of course, so he got one he made in elementary. (Well it's better than nothing) Just follow the instructions and you'll get to business. Pan left, and Check the largest bear of the bunch. (You can't miss it) It looks like there is a camera, a transmitter, and a timer!

Talk to Gumshoe:

Camera: It looks like a spy camera. There's no video tape in it and it looks like the radio waves sent earlier seems to be a recorder. The Spy Camera will be added to the Court Record.

Transmitter: Gumshoe explains that the transmmiter sends videos to specific destinations, much like a recorder. The timer attached to it is set one hour from 8pm. 8PM? Sounds like when the ceremony ended. Furthermore the bear was there before the night of the murder! So that means the crime itself was caught on tape! The Transmitter will be added to the Court Record.

Stuffed bear: Someone must have put this bear in Corrida's room as a present. It's impossible to tell who, unfortunately. The Stuffed Bear will be added to the Court Record.

Gumshoe decides to use the Camera and the Transmitter to find out who brought these. They will be removed from the Court Record. Gumshoe will leave the room.

And then Edgeworth enters the room. Apparently he just heard everything in this room. He informs you that he had sent a search party to find Maya. He also reveals that the stuffed bear was acually an expense made from overseas. It is hand-made, so it is rarely exported. It would take time to find out who brought it, so he takes the Stuffed Bear which will be removed from the Court Record.

Before leaving, Edgeworth asks you a question: "Who was the person that murdered Juan Corrida?" He advises you to find the truth to this mystery.

Can you manage to find the truth by tomorrow?

Investigation Mode: Part 2

Corrida's Hotel Room

The game continues where you left off. Talk to Pearl:

The real killer: Just a brief summary of what you think.

The assassin's client: Same as above.

Was it Matt?: You recall your conversation with Engarde. You asked Engarde if he killed Corrida, he said no and no Psyche-Locks appeared. This reminds you of something important.

Something interesting: You recall what Andrews said during trial. Corrida was about to reveal Engarde's secret when he was killed. Could Engarde have hired de Killer to keep him silenced?

Move to the Voila Hall.

Viola Hall

You see Oldbag there. Apparently Edgeworth told her to scan the whole area with a bug-sweeper (Probably to get her off his back?) Talk to Oldbag:

Bug Sweeper: Oldbag tells you what you already know and suspects Lotta put it there just in case a meeting with Juan and Andrews talk again.

Juan and Adrian: Oldbag reminds you of Juan's manager, Celeste. She was supposed to get married, but killed herself three days after the announcement.

Celeste's suicide: Celeste announced her marriage with Corrida, who somehow called off the marriage three days later, which led to Celeste's suicide. Why did Corrida call it off?

Move to the Criminal Affairs Dept., since visiting the Detention Center will get you no where.

Criminal Affairs Department

You make a talk with the chief. He says they finally have a decisive witness. He also grants you permission to the Detention Center. Move there.

Detention Center

Andrews is now one of the prisoners. You can now talk to two people. When given a choice hear Matt Engarde's first. Talk to Engarde:

Matt's secret: You ask about this "secret" Corrida was going to announce at the conference. Engarde says he doesn't know what you are talking about, but 5 Psyche-Locks tell you otherwise. Yes, FIVE!

Juan and Adrian: Engarde just shoves you off instead of answering directly. Does he know anthing about Corrida and Celeste's suicide note?

Move somewhere and back, then choose Adrian Andrews. Talk to Andrews:

Matt Engarde: Andrews says something about the real Engarde, but stops before she could go any further.

Celeste Inpax: Andrews reveals to you that the reason she wanted the suicide note was to burn it.

Why frame him?: You ask Andrews why she would she frame Engarde. Andrews tells you she wanted "revenge". For what? 1 Psyche-Lock appears before she could say anything.

Move to the Criminal Affairs Dept.

Criminal Affairs Department (2)

You'll will see the desicive witness: Will Powers. Talk to Powers:

Tomorrow's testimony: Powers is not allowed to tell you anything.

Matt Engarde: Powers will tell you that Engarde is kind of a playboy. He messes with women's feelings, except for Andrews, the only woman in the world who doesn't "swoon" over him.

Gossip: Powers will tell you he has heard about Celeste's wedding and suicide.

Suicide Note: Powers doesn't know where the note is. There is no solid proof that Celeste wrote it. Before dying, Celeste told her friends the wedding was called off because she was caught by that "insidious man". Who? Corrida? Could this be the reason he hid the note?

You then get a call from Gumshoe, who says something bad has happened to Edgeworth. He says he will meet you at your office. What's wrong? Move to the Wright & Co. Law Offices.

Wright & Co. Law Offices

Gumshoe will tell you the one who brought the bear and the camera: Matt Engarde. Ugh! Talk to Gumshoe:

Stuffed bear: He learned Engarde's name from the store clerk. A credit card reciept confirms it. The Credit Card Receipt will be added to the Court Record.

Spy Camera: As Edgeworth predicted, the camera was a dead end. The Spy Camera, Transmitter, and Stuffed bear will be added to the Court Record.

So Engarde brought the bear and the camera and recorded it in Corrida's room? Why? Could this get any worse? Move to the Detention Center.

Detention Center (2)

You meet Engarde there. Present Maya's Magatama:

Engarde insists he doesn't know anything about Corrida or his plan. You know he is lying. Present either the Camera or the Transmitter. He was hiding the camera to spy on Corrida. Engarde wants to know where he hid it. Present the Stuffed Bear.

When given the option to choose who gave the bear to Corrida, Present Matt Engarde's Profile. Engarde wants proof. Present the Credit Card Receipt.

1 Psyche-Lock Broken

You now ask why would Engarde hide the spy camera in Corrida's room. Present the Picture Card. The murderer was Shelly de Killer. Engarde wants to know why he would know de Killer. When given the option, choose you're his client. Is there any other way he would know? He probably knew about de Killer and predicted the murder, so he must have set the camera up to spy on de Killer.

Hearing this Engarde will consult "himself" and will tell you "It's time for you to meet him now, Mr. Lawyer dude."

Engarde will now reveal his true self, pulling back is hair to reveal scars on his eye and holding a large cup of wine. Talk to Engarde:

Matt's secret: Engarde will reveal why he set up the camera at Corrida's room: He doesn't trust de Killer. With this tape, he could keep him at bay and even blackmail him if he wants.

Motive for murder: His motive is what you have been expecting: Corrida was about to ruin Engarde's carrer. Engarde used his pretend self to fool all people, Andrews, de Killer, and now you!

Well, it looks like your worst fears are now realized. Engarde used de Killer to kill Corrida, thus making him the guilty party. Engarde reminds you proving so would have the kidnapper end your beloved friend's life. So all of this was set up by Engarde!? Unforgivable!

Engarde leaves and Edgeworth arrives. Hearing every word he drags you to the Criminal Affairs Department.

Criminal Affairs Department (3)

Edgeworth tell you until a year ago, he didn't understand what a "prosecutor" was all about. he feels you should do the same thing. Talk to Edgeworth:

Matt Engarde: Your job is to fight for your client and get them the not guilty verdict. But for Engarde's case maybe giving him the "not guilty" verdict wouldn't be like a lawyer at all.

Maya's situation: Edgeworth tells you can't run away: you can only fight.

Why fight? You explain to Edgeworth that you can't fight for a false verdict. Edgeworth will tell you he didn't leave the prosecutor's office just because you ruined his perfect winning record, that is because you sealed his path of the winning record. He realizes his mistakes and concludes things such as a perfection are meaningless. As to why he has returned, Edgeworth says it is for you to figure out.

After talking, your transceiver beeps, it is the kidnapper. He says he kidnapped Maya for Engarde as a form of "aftercare".His name carries a certain amount of honor and dignity. He reveals his name: Shelly de Killer! The one who killed Corrida! He is doing this for Engarde to ensure his acquittal.

As the conversation ends, your hear a cat meow. A cat? Could that be Shoe? Then that means...

Quick, Move to the Living Room!! (accessible from the Hotel Lobby)

Engarde's Living Room (2)

Examine the bear in front of the door on the right. It looks like it has cuts and stilts all over. Look familiar? The Figurine will be added to the Court Record.

You decide to break in the next room.

Private Lounge

Does this room look familiar? You find a antenna here. It looks like the room Maya was in. It looks like a tape was in here, but the tape deck is empty.

Move to the Wine Cellar.

Wine Cellar

No one here either. Damn! It looks like de Killer got away with Maya.

Examine what looks like a picture frame. It has the picture of Celeste, complete with the message "With love - Celeste". With love? Celeste's Photo will be added to the Court Record.

Pearl then spots a message. It's from Maya! It tells you to get the "Guilty" verdict or she'll never forgive you.

You automatically return to the Detention Center. You have one more thing to do before you are finished.

Detention Center (3)

Andrews's Psyche-Lock: Why Frame Him?

Andrews' insists she framed Engarde because he obviously did it, but you know it's for something else. When asked what, Present either the Suicide Note, or Celeste Inpax's Profile. Andrews asks what does Celeste have to do with Engarde. Present Celeste's Photo. Celeste looks quite younger than when she died. The message "With love - Celeste" was written in her own handwriting. You found this in the house of Engarde.

That was it, your last Psyche-Lock challenge of the game.

Talk to Andrews:

Why frame him?: Adrian will reveal to you that Engarde and Celeste were "lovers". As shown in her photo. It turned out Engarde never loved her, in fact, he was just using her. Hearing this, Celeste moved to Worldwide Studios, where she met Corrida, who called off a wedding Celeste proposed to.. After hearing the news, Celeste lost all hope and comitted suicide. Andrews always looked up to her, which is why she framed Engarde, revenge.

Revenge: The reason Corrida called off the wedding is because of this "confession" Engarde made to him about his "relationship" to Celeste. Corrida was blinded by his own pride, so he didn't want to marry an ex-girlfriend of his arch rival. Andrews believes Celeste wrote the suicide note for Engarde's misdeeds. Andrews suspects Corrida hid the note as a firece weapon to rid of Engarde and his carrer. Andrews was always prepared to burn the note, she even brought a lighter when she investigated Corrida's dead body. She couldn't find the note and that's when revenge crossed her mind.

After talking the day ends, marking the end of your last investigation adventure of this game.

Right now you are facing a huge dilemma. You know your client, Engarde, is guilty of the murder and you want him convicted, but if he is, de Killer will silence Maya forever unless you get a guilty man acquitted. Will you get Engarde get the verdict he deserves (guilty) and convince de Killer to set Maya free alive and unharmed at the same time? Only a miracle could help you somewhere.
