==About My Image==
Hi, Rocky. I just noticed the same thing. I'm about to upload it in .png format.
Thanks for tipping me off!

== Pokemon GSC ==

Hey Rocky, two things.
{{Archive|[[/1/]]- February 4 to April 13<br>[[/2/]] - April 13 to July 1}}

1)It's ok by me to consider northern dark cave as part of mt. mortar, but please state the link first.
==Pokémon RBY==
As far as glitches and stuff like the mountain that you mentioned, I plan on making one more page for tricks such as that and the unlimited item duplication trick.  That really stinks about IE and the check mark.  I suppose I can try to find a better symbol to use, I just can't understand why IE can't display a simple check mark.  Also, I had a difficult time understanding the last sentence that you left for me on my talk page.  It's not clear what you were trying to say.  Thanks. [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] ([[User talk:Procyon|Talk]]) 09:55, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

2) to get nighmare, go to the sentry point between goldenrod and the national park, anhd talk to the sentryman, and he gives you a Spearow with mail attached to it, and you have to deliver it to the fat man by route 31, and he gives you nightmare.
==List of Pokémon ==
*If you go back to the guard, he'll give you a pp up (or something like that).
You mentioned on the pokémon Diamond/Pearl talk page that there should be a list of Pokémon and their locations. Did you mean for Diamond/Pearl specifics, all Diamond and Pearl Pokémon locations, or a universal Pokémon/locations page with locations for the Pokémon in their respective versions? [[User:Myth|Myth]] 19:04, 25 June 2007 (CDT) [[User talk:Myth|talk]]
*BEWARE!!! make sure you give the fat man the spearow with the mail on it. if the mail is attached to any other pokemon, YOU WILL LOSE IT!!!

The short answer is no, you cannot copy the stuff from BP. The long answer is, you can take the information, but you have to rewrite the content from scratch. So you can take the fact that the certain move has a certain number, type, contest, power, and accuracy and make a table that contains that information. I'm not sure what Category is, but if you can get that from the game it's ok as well.  You just can't copy the table directly.  -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|Talk]]) 16:20, 4 April 2007 (CDT)
==Template search error==
:Remember that information is free; what isn't is the graphical representation, the words used to describe, and the ''custom'' images used. Anything that is made by the company itself, i.e. Nintendo, is theirs and not the people who put it on their website, although they deserve credit for acquiring the images/data.  --[[User:Notmyhandle|Notmyhandle]] ([[User talk:Notmyhandle|talk]] <small>•</small> [[Special:Contributions/Notmyhandle|contribs]]) 16:56, 4 April 2007 (CDT)

: Pardon the intrusion Rocky.  Halosonic, I would caution you against putting too much Pokémon Move specific information in our walkthroughs.  We have a loose partnership with Bulbapedia, and it's better for us to point to their information than to repeat information that their database already contains.  As far as StrategyWiki is concerned, we want to place the emphasis on specific walkthroughs for each game.  That's where we need the biggest effort at this time.  Of course, if move combos interest you, I'm sure that Bulbapedia would appreciate your help on pages like [[BP:Appeal|this one]]. ==Eyegore strategy==
Hi Rocky.  I'm not sure if you were talking about the right enemy when you added that Eyegore strategy.  From what you wrote, it sounded to me like you were talking about the Koppe enemy found in later levels, that mirror your movements (i.e. when you press left they go right, etc.), and not the Eyegores.  Eyegores simply wake up when you get close and follow you around.  If you really meant the Eyegores, then fine, but if you were really talking about the Koppes, please fix up your addition. == When the time comes... ==
This article is about a free online flash game with no English publicity (based off a Google Search), which does not fit into our [[StrategyWiki:Guide/Scope|scope]]. That is why I have deleted its previous creation earlier today (the previous creation contains a link to the site, so you might want to check it out [[Special:Undelete/OH! DANGO! JAM|here]]). I have deleted the page a '''second''' time today, and will lock it if it gets created again, unless you can come up with a reason for why it should exist. Update: just got your message, I'll keep an eye out for it (didn't feel like erasing the previous message). --{{User:Ryan Schmidt/sig}} 15:35, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

Hi Rocky.  I had a question for you.  It's a long way off (at least a couple of months even if I'm really fast with Red/Blue/FireRed/LeafGreen), but how will you feel about me beginning to transform the G/S/C guide to become more like R/B/Y?  The way I've been going about it, I tend to bulldoze over what's present and rebuild it from scratch.  Obviously, I would need to alter my approach a little, but the question is how much?  I guess what I'm asking is, what's more important to you: to see those pages transformed entirely if it meant making the guide better, or to see the work you established remain as much as possible.  And I am in no way trying to imply that your work is bad, or that I could even do a better job.  I'm just asking how you would feel, because I want to be sensitive to you.  Let me know, thanks ^_^  [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] ([[User talk:Procyon|Talk]]) 16:15, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
== OH! DANGO! JAM ==

: I have %s for the encounter rates.  I would most likely transform the Encounter tables to look a little more like the ones in the R/B/Y guide, except that instead of R/B/Y it would be morning/noon/night. You know what I mean?  I'll try to do a mock up of what I'm talking about. [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] ([[User talk:Procyon|Talk]]) 16:36, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
Reading the Scope, I think it does fit in.

::[[User:Procyon/GSY|Like this]]. That would not be the final design, it's just a concept mock-up, and those numbers are completely made up. But that's the rough idea. [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] ([[User talk:Procyon|Talk]]) 16:56, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
This game meets both
1. It is a game, and
6. It has playerbase comparable to a commercial game. This one also says if it meets this, things like being commercially available, or produced by a corporation do not matter.

:::Like I said, that design isn't final, so there are some issues to work out.  Crystal actually has different values all together from G/S (e.g. Sentret appears 30% of the time in the morning in G/S, but only 20% of the time in the morning in Crystal), so it will probably need to be done as two seperate tables. But again, I still have to get through the other games first.  It's hard to be disciplined and not go back to new games like I've been doing.  I'm really going to try to focus my efforts on Red & Blue until it's done.  It just takes so much work... [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] ([[User talk:Procyon|Talk]]) 17:56, 12 April 2007 (CDT)
There are thousands of players. the ranking in game only shows the top 500 players, and ranked 500 is a level 400-something character. I have never even played a person that high a level, except for NPC boss characters, and I've fought hundreds of people.

== Sprite ==
You mention that the game has no english publicity. The scope page said language doesn't matter, as long as its guide is in english.
:Yeah I agree.  Plus this game is actually really fun!  I say just let it be included and see how much info we can compile on this.  English players could really use the translation.  --[[User:Notmyhandle|Notmyhandle]] ([[User talk:Notmyhandle|talk]] <small>•</small> [[Special:Contributions/Notmyhandle|contribs]]) 22:30, 26 July 2007 (CDT)

== IRC ==
Currently, your sig is taking up a lot of room. Therefore, I shall let you in on my secret of how I got my sig to be a template. What you need to do is put your sig in [[User:Rocky/sig]] or something comparable, and then create '''another''' page (like [[User:Rocky/sig2]] or something) and put "<nowiki>{{User:Rocky/sig}}</nowiki>" in that page. Now, in your Nickname box in preferences, put in "<nowiki>{{subst:User:Rocky/sig2}}</nowiki>" (the MediaWiki engine automatically puts SUBST: in front of it if you don't, which is why this is a two-part process). Now, whenever you sign, instead of inserting all that messy wiki code, all it puts down is <nowiki>{{User:Rocky/sig}}</nowiki>. --{{User:Ryan Schmidt/sig}} 08:28, 10 August 2007 (CDT)

I did already think that would happen before I asked to enable the value, so why did I ask, then? Here's why: I was thinking of viewing and modifying the code in PAGESINNS or possibly even NUMBEROFARTICLES, but the former seemed more doable, to make a new magic word that would determine the articles in [[:Category:Guides at completion stage 4]]. It would also allow me to modify the existing PAGESINNS to make it safer from being misused in some way or another. Unfortunately, I can't find the code for these magic words online anywhere, so it's going to be a while until I can get to it, as it requires me to download and scan through MediaWiki 1.9. Oh well, you'll catch up eventually (actually, you probably won't, but whatever). Anyway, if you have any questions, [[:Image:Rocky Noob 1.jpg|this link]] should answer them quite thoroughly. If you need help editing, instead of whining about, why don't you try to [[StrategyWiki:Guide|RTFM]]? As for the [[StrategyWiki:Staff lounge|staff lounge]], try looking at the first word there. It says "staff." Are you [[StrategyWiki:Administrators|staff]]? I didn't think so, so STAY OUT! If you want to voice something about the site in general, or it's community, just go to [[StrategyWiki talk:Community Portal|community issues]], but try not to as <span class="plainlinks">[http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Nobody_Cares nobody cares]</span> about your issues. Seriously, keep them to yourself. If you want to just hang out in [irc://irc.abxy.org/StrategyWiki IRC], shame on you. Try actually editing something, you slacker. Okay, now, remember to sign your name on, and '''only''' on, talk pages by clicking [[Image:Wikisigbutton.png]] or using four tildes (<nowiki>~~~~</nowiki>); I'll let you figure out what the squiggly lines do yourself. == welcoming new users ==

== G/S/C ==
Actually, Prod brought up a pretty valid point on IRC, in which that we shouldn't welcome people just for creating accounts, only when they actually edit. It would reduce the amount of space needed in the db (because, as you can see, a LOT of accounts are being created), plus the majority of those new users probably won't edit at all anyway. Therefore, just welcome them when they actually make an edit. Of course, if you believe otherwise, just come onto IRC and explain your views. --{{User:Ryan Schmidt/sig}} 12:08, 1 September 2007 (CDT)

== Preemptive warnings ==
== Welcome back message ==

Hey Rocky.  I understand your desire to protect the site from vandals, but storing preemptive warnings on the SW database doesn't serve much purpose, and might be better left on your local hard drive until you need to use it. Furthermore, while I again understand your inclination to threaten with prosecution, you know, I know, and Cedricong knows that it's an empty threat. Instead, it will only wreak of immaturity and frustration, and that's exactly what vandals are trying to get when they vandalize. Don't feed into that mentality. The worst thing that you can do to a vandal is ban them with no explanation or discussion at all. That typically leaves them with a diminished sense of satisfaction for their efforts. == N64 buttons ==
== Cleanup project members ==

Hey Rocky.  I saw your attempts to make the N64 buttons, and while they're a good idea, they don't conform to the other buttons that we have.  Blendmaster and I tested a number of designs in the past, and we had decided that 24x24 is the best default size for buttons.  When you go beyond that, and using something bigger (like [[ Image:N64-button-A.png]]) it creates a large gap above and below the line of text that the image appears on.  (It happens with 24x24 too, but far less so.)  Furthermore, I take it you're using Paint to create those images.  I don't recommend that.  You're far better off using a free graphics software package like GiMP (that's what a lot of us use.)  When creating a controller button, don't actually create it at the resolution you intend to end up with.  It's far better to start out 4 to 8 times bigger, and scale it down when you're done.  Scaling it down tends to have a smoothing effect that makes the end result look more polished (provided you use a linear or cubic interpolation effect.)  These are some of the techniques I used to make [[Image:NeoGeo-A.png]].  I started out with a much bigger image, and scaled it down to 24x24 when I was finished.  Paint's scaling feature doesn't work very well.  Anyway, just some suggestions.  [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] ([[User talk:Procyon|Talk]]) 10:10, 19 May 2007 (CDT)
As part of our ongoing cleanup project, we are transitioning to a category based membership scheme for the [[StrategyWiki:Cleanup project]].  The member listing at the bottom of the page has been removed so if you would like to rejoin the project, please add [[:Category:Cleanup project members]] to your user page. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|Talk]]) 13:05, 12 October 2007 (CDT)
:A few other things, the buttons don't quite follow the CamelCase naming used in most button templates, it would be N64-'''B'''utton-A.png instead of N64-'''button'''-A.png, for example. Also, I've noticed that your images lack transparency, please add it in. An easy way to get the images themselves is to get a picture of the controller online and crop out the stuff around the buttons, it gives an accurate representation of what they look like. It might be hard to find a top-down image to get the L and R buttons (I still can't find a good view of the nunchaku for Wii to rip the Z and C buttons). If you want, I could work on getting them for you. --[[User:Ryan Schmidt|Ryan Schmidt]][[User talk:Ryan Schmidt|Talk]] [[User talk:Ryan Schmidt/blab|-]] [[Special:Contributions/Ryan Schmidt|Contribs]] 13:41, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

::::Hi Rocky, that was a nice attempt, but unfortunately, you can't use a solid color to emphasize indentation on a photographic image.  The trick is to play with the brightness levels on the pixels on either side of the indent.  So for example, when I had a b b b c where a is the left side of the indentation, and c is the right side.  I left b alone completely, but I applied a lightness filter to brighten all of the a's and to darken all of the c's.  Anyway, I replaced all of the buttons, so have a look at [[:Category:Nintendo 64 buttons]].  [[User:Procyon|Procyon]] ([[User talk:Procyon|Talk]]) 15:30, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

==A few questions on CoD2 guide==
Yeah CN is still in beta, your userpage is a good example of the things that are missing right now.  The problem is, however, that most of those things are templates (like todo) or images that have hardcoded CSS (maybe not the images, I haven't attempted to give them black bg's yet).  What this means is we have to edit major templates like {{t|Moves List Header}} and the accompanying templates to make their color coding '''dynamic'''.  Right now, people are and have been writing templates with a white background in mind, and it doesn't work for CN at all (see {{t|Todo}} and {{t|Chrono Trigger/Boss}}). I recommend NOT using it unless you feel like highlighting text A LOT (page histories and diff's haven't been changed yet so if you're patrolling you can't see anything). --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 18:42, 15 October 2007 (CDT)

hmm, when i meant a "back to route 104 south" page, i meant a new page, not linking back to the original one. this one shouldnt be too detailed, just telling the ppl to go to briney's house. i dont want to explain it on rusturf tunnel.
also, dewford town... do you think we should put the gym as a separate page, since you need to pass thru dewford town to get to the page, and i think doing the cave first is a good idea, so ill do it first.

hmm... do you have this game? im wondering if i should do a run thru on mine first... but that'll have to wait till next week, im doing this off of memory, and i have my stuff i another country...but i think one of us needs to play thru the game when we do this...

anyways... ill fix up the guide pages tomorrow.

Hi, thanks for you comments, and for drawing my attention to [[Civilization III]] and [[People's Tactics]]. I initially produced something very like the structure you describe, but then Skizzerz came over all bureaucratic and said that's not the approved format, and jawboned someone else into re-arranging it all into 1 long page. I'm in 2 minds about making "Playable races" a separate page - yes, it's long; but no, it's part of the game overview and some of the comments in other parts of the overview refer to it (for example wherever "Tolerant", "Lithovore" and "Creative" are mentioned). All that's in the air while Skizzerz insists that TBS and RTS guides should be shoehorned into a format that was apparently designed for FPS and platform games. But if you have any other suggestions in the meantime, I'll be glad to hear about them. [[User:Philcha|Philcha]] 18:00, 12 January 2008 (CST)

Pokémon RBY[edit]

As far as glitches and stuff like the mountain that you mentioned, I plan on making one more page for tricks such as that and the unlimited item duplication trick. That really stinks about IE and the check mark. I suppose I can try to find a better symbol to use, I just can't understand why IE can't display a simple check mark. Also, I had a difficult time understanding the last sentence that you left for me on my talk page. It's not clear what you were trying to say. Thanks. Procyon (Talk) 09:55, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

List of Pokémon[edit]

You mentioned on the pokémon Diamond/Pearl talk page that there should be a list of Pokémon and their locations. Did you mean for Diamond/Pearl specifics, all Diamond and Pearl Pokémon locations, or a universal Pokémon/locations page with locations for the Pokémon in their respective versions? MapleScroll[edit]

While I have heard of it, I'm not sure it's significant enough to have a link here and it's not a tool that I use personally (Mostly due to the fact that I don't scroll much, not a flaw in the tool itself.) I'd say revert was probably the best thing to do. --IsaacGS 11:03, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Completion stage[edit]

Really? That's weird... It was Completion Stage 0 when I first edited it, then I changed it to 1, and then it went back to 0... so how did Lunar Knight not do it? Myth (talk) 14:48, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Yeah, Rocky, I double-checked the editing History, and that was the only edit that changed the completion stage number, so it had to have been Lunar Knight. Myth (talk) 14:50, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Eyegore strategy[edit]

Thanks! ^_^ Procyon (Talk) 10:23, 11 July 2007 (CDT)

OH! DANGO! JAM[edit]

This article is about a free online flash game with no English publicity (based off a Google Search), which does not fit into our scope. That is why I have deleted its previous creation earlier today (the previous creation contains a link to the site, so you might want to check it out here). I have deleted the page a second time today, and will lock it if it gets created again, unless you can come up with a reason for why it should exist. Update: just got your message, I'll keep an eye out for it (didn't feel like erasing the previous message). --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:35, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

OH! DANGO! JAM[edit]

Reading the Scope, I think it does fit in.

This game meets both 1. It is a game, and 6. It has playerbase comparable to a commercial game. This one also says if it meets this, things like being commercially available, or produced by a corporation do not matter.

There are thousands of players. the ranking in game only shows the top 500 players, and ranked 500 is a level 400-something character. I have never even played a person that high a level, except for NPC boss characters, and I've fought hundreds of people.

You mention that the game has no english publicity. The scope page said language doesn't matter, as long as its guide is in english.

Yeah I agree. Plus this game is actually really fun! I say just let it be included and see how much info we can compile on this. English players could really use the translation. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:30, 26 July 2007 (CDT)

Your sig[edit]

Currently, your sig is taking up a lot of room. Therefore, I shall let you in on my secret of how I got my sig to be a template. What you need to do is put your sig in User:Rocky/sig or something comparable, and then create another page (like User:Rocky/sig2 or something) and put "{{User:Rocky/sig}}" in that page. Now, in your Nickname box in preferences, put in "{{subst:User:Rocky/sig2}}" (the MediaWiki engine automatically puts SUBST: in front of it if you don't, which is why this is a two-part process). Now, whenever you sign, instead of inserting all that messy wiki code, all it puts down is {{User:Rocky/sig}}. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 08:28, 10 August 2007 (CDT)

Better "Welcome" message[edit]

How's this?:

Hello Rocky! Thank you for your contributions, although I must admit that mine are way better than yours. Oh well, you'll catch up eventually (actually, you probably won't, but whatever). Anyway, if you have any questions, this link should answer them quite thoroughly. If you need help editing, instead of whining about, why don't you try to RTFM? As for the staff lounge, try looking at the first word there. It says "staff." Are you staff? I didn't think so, so STAY OUT! If you want to voice something about the site in general, or it's community, just go to community issues, but try not to as nobody cares about your issues. Seriously, keep them to yourself. If you want to just hang out in IRC, shame on you. Try actually editing something, you slacker. Okay, now, remember to sign your name on, and only on, talk pages by clicking Wikisigbutton.png or using four tildes (~~~~); I'll let you figure out what the squiggly lines do yourself. Finally, always fill in the edit summary field, otherwise I have to do some hard work checking diffs to make sure you aren't screwing stuff up. Oh, and don't delete this message from your talk page or you will get banninated. Happy editing! -- Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 17:14, 29 August 2007 (CDT)

welcoming new users[edit]

Actually, Prod brought up a pretty valid point on IRC, in which that we shouldn't welcome people just for creating accounts, only when they actually edit. It would reduce the amount of space needed in the db (because, as you can see, a LOT of accounts are being created), plus the majority of those new users probably won't edit at all anyway. Therefore, just welcome them when they actually make an edit. Of course, if you believe otherwise, just come onto IRC and explain your views. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 12:08, 1 September 2007 (CDT)

Yes... that was one of my worse ideas css-wise. It made my sig way too annoying, and just plain ugly to people that didn't have that css... :P Pretty much, it's best not to create your own css for your sig, as what we already have in bc.css and common.css, plus what you can set in span tags, etc., should be more than sufficient for your sig. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 15:00, 26 September 2007 (CDT)

CrimsonNight[edit]

Yeah CN is still in beta, your userpage is a good example of the things that are missing right now. The problem is, however, that most of those things are templates (like todo) or images that have hardcoded CSS (maybe not the images, I haven't attempted to give them black bg's yet). What this means is we have to edit major templates like {{Moves List Header}} and the accompanying templates to make their color coding dynamic. Right now, people are and have been writing templates with a white background in mind, and it doesn't work for CN at all (see {{Todo}} and {{Chrono Trigger/Boss}}). I recommend NOT using it unless you feel like highlighting text A LOT (page histories and diff's haven't been changed yet so if you're patrolling you can't see anything). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 18:42, 15 October 2007 (CDT)

hey rocky, i want to know if you could separate route 104 into a north and south section, and put petalburg forest between them. they have different items, trainers and such, so it would be better for it to be put into north and south sections, to make the guide flow. thanks in advance. Need ur help again, Rocky...[edit]

Hey rocky, need your help. I need to get some pages moved towards the back of the Pokemon RS guide.Here are my problems.

1)Routes 105 and 106 are out of position, and don't flow with the story...

2)I need to get a "Back to Route 104 (South)" page for talking to Mr Briney.

3)When i reach dewford town, do you think i should explain the gym first, or should i explain dewford cave first, instead.

Thanx in advance.

Peace Out, God Bless. Halosonic 18:03, 17 December 2007 (CST)

hmm, when i meant a "back to route 104 south" page, i meant a new page, not linking back to the original one. this one shouldnt be too detailed, just telling the ppl to go to briney's house. i dont want to explain it on rusturf tunnel. also, dewford town... do you think we should put the gym as a separate page, since you need to pass thru dewford town to get to the page, and i think doing the cave first is a good idea, so ill do it first.

hmm... do you have this game? im wondering if i should do a run thru on mine first... but that'll have to wait till next week, im doing this off of memory, and i have my stuff i another country...but i think one of us needs to play thru the game when we do this...

anyways... ill fix up the guide pages tomorrow.

Peace out, God Bless. Halosonic 16:07, 18 December 2007 (CST)

Master of Orion[edit]

Hi, thanks for you comments, and for drawing my attention to Civilization III and People's Tactics. Philcha 18:00, 12 January 2008 (CST)

Game selector thing[edit]

I have found a solution. In my sandbox I have used the control selector as a game selector and put them both together (sort of). Because you told me in the chat thing that people would forget to change the game selector, but then if they will remember to change the control selecter then it's ok. The only downcast is that you have to write stuff in twice if you're doing stuff for the game selector as well. --Melon247 17:09, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
