Guroceana wilderness[edit]

You land on a small plateau and Galuf recognizes the area as Guroceana, a wilderness. As you climb down Bartz apologizes for landing Galuf in this isolated spot, Galuf is just glad to see them again.

Head east until you spot a town and enter.

Lugor Bordertown[edit]

Renamed: Regole (GBA)

For more details on shops, see Lugor's shops.

First, stay at the inn for free. During the night Galuf gets up and leaves, then Bartz follows and finds him in the pub sampling the local spirits. They start to talk and Bartz tries to apologize again, but as far as Galuf is concerned it was actually fortunate that you stopped his attack on the castle, since otherwise the entire force would have been hit by the magic shield. In any case the air is cleared.

This is the first town in Galuf's world and there are plenty of new things at the shop. First the selection at the Item shops has been expanded to include, among other things, Chemist drinks. There are new weapons for the new jobs you just received, and some improved armor as well. The magic shop has nine spells, all but one of which are new.

Finally stop at the pub for gossip. The stage is empty but for a bit of fun, and to earn an easy 100 GP, you can dance. You can also advance in the Pianos subquest as well.

Moogle Forest and Cave[edit]

When you are done in Lugor there is not much choice but to continue south. One of the people in Lugor warns you to stay away from the castle and this is good advice. There is nothing you can do there and there are monsters which can easily wipe out your party. Even near the castle is a bull type monster which you should be wary of for the time being. So go past the castle, then east and north over an isthmus, and east into a narrow valley to enter a forest. It is highly recommended that you save before entering the valley though, since this will be your last chance for a while. Talk to the small creature in the forest, who is startled and disappears down a hole. Galuf identifies the creature as a Moogle and you decide to follow it down the hole. (You do not actually have to do this and can keep going through the forest to the desert area beyond, but there is not much to do there besides fight monsters.)

Phoenix Down Chest West end on\f final ledge.

You land on a ledge in a cave. Step into the water to be swept downstream by rapids; you will probably get random battles on the way. You soon reach a ledge where you can heal a bit. Step into the water again to be swept to the next ledge; grab the treasure here. This time there are two ways down but they both lead to the same place. Get more treasure here and continue on the ledge until you see the Moogle again, this time with another creature. Step forward to investigate and a battle begins.

Tyrasaurus
Boss level: 29, Recommended party level: 25
HP: 5000, Weaknesses: Fire, Nullifies: Ice, Absorbs: None
Gold: 0, ABP: 9, Drops: None
Description/Strategy

Renamed to Tyrannosaur in the GBA version.

Preparation: There is an easy way to beat this monster, which is to just to use Phoenix Down on it; this results in the monster's immediate defeat. If you use this method the preparation is to just make sure you have a Phoenix Down in your inventory, and since you should have just gotten one that is almost painfully easy. Note that using the Phoenix Down has a chance of failing. If you feel this a bit of a cheat, or just want a bit more challenge, it's perfectly possible to beat this monster handily without a Phoenix Down. If you try this with the wrong setup though, you could end up using Phoenix Downs on your own party, or even being wiped out, in which case you'll need to restart from way back before entering the Moogle forest. The key is to deal damage as fast as possible so Tyrasaurus doesn't have time to do much harm. To do this you need jobs that allow you to use the brand new spells from Lugor. A combination that works well is two or three Time Mages and one or two Red Mages, preferably with Summon ability. The Ninja ability Twin may be useful for any characters who an earned it. If you want to learn a new Blue Magic spell, Tyrasaurus uses the Blue Magic spell ???, which does set damage of the difference between the caster's maximum HP and current HP.

Tactics: If you do not want to use the Phoenix Down trick, have your Time mages cast Demi twice and then switch to Comet for the rest of the battle. Meanwhile, have your healers take care of any damage with Cure2 and Raise, or use Fire based attack spells such as Fire2 or Ifrit when not busy healing. Note that even though Tyrasaurus is undead, it is not weak to Holy, so you are better off using Fire based magic than using healing magic. Note also, even though Phoenix Down kills the monster, Raise has no effect on it at all. Tyrasaurus can use the Blue Magic spell ??? which can instantly knock out one of your characters even if fully healed, so letting the battle continue too long will cause you to expend unnecessary MP. If your characters have the !Twin ability, have them use it every other move to avoid Tyrasaurus's physical attacks.

After the battle, the Moogle exits the cave and shows the path to take to its home. Follow the Moogle out of the cave.

Moogle Village[edit]

You can now cross the desert following the same green paths as the Moogle. If you step into the desert and encounter monsters, the battles can be easily won if you use the Aqua Rake spell, but you cannot escape them so be sure to save beforehand. If you stick to the paths there are no random encounters at all.

When you reach the valley where the Moogle disappeared you'll notice that there is nothing to mark where it went. So the easiest thing is to just search back and forth a row at time until you hit on it. There are no random encounters here.

As you enter you can spot Moogles, but they scatter as soon as they see you and then you will only see a glimpse as they rush past. Head to the northeast corner of the village to find the Moogle you helped in the cave. Talk to it and it starts a sort of conversation with you. The Moogle invites you into a hollow tree filled with treasure chests; you can help yourself as a reward for helping it the cave. When you exit the other Moogles are no longer afraid of you and you can now enter the other hollow trees. Start with the one in the center to find a Moogle costume. Try it on then enter the tree to the west. Talk to the Moogle there and it will be so taken with you that it unlocks a final treasure chest.

Exit temporarily to take off the costume, then go back to the tree with the Moogle you helped and it starts to climb the tree. The scene then shifts to another location.

Krill happens to have a Moogle living with her and she can communicate with it. She and the Moogle make the journey to Moogle Village and she reunites with Galuf. Everyone boards the dragon and you are taken to Val Castle.
