You can change the controls in the Options Menu at any time to one of the other preset button maps (you can't choose your own, unfortunately) but the default one is the best for a starting player.

These are the default controls, in context with the Third-Person Camera:

  • Neutral lstick/Neutral dpad - Move/Move target reticle
  • Neutral rstick - Move camera
  • Cross button - Jump
  • Circle button - Fire weapon
  • Square button - Swing OmniWrench
  • Triangle button - Quick Select
  • L1 button - Aim/Scope
  • L2 button - Strafe (hold down and move normally)
  • R1 button - Zoom out (when in scope)/Crouch
  • R2 button - Zoom in (when in scope)/Strafe

Advanced Moves[edit]

When jumping:

  • Cross button, then Cross button again whilst in mid-air - Double Jump
  • Cross button, then Cross button again, and hold - Double Jump and Glide
  • Cross button, then Cross button again (near a wall) - Wall Jump (use this to get up Jump Slots)
  • L2 button and/or R2 button and Cross button (whilst moving sideways) - Sideflip
  • L2 button and/or R2 button and Cross button (whilst moving backwards) - Backflip

Special wrench moves:

  • Square button three times in quick succession - Multi-Strike
  • Cross button, then Square button - Hyper-Strike (a downwards wrench attack that's roughly twice as powerful as a normal attack)
  • R1 button, then Cross button - Comet-Strike (throw your wrench - useful against enemies with close-range weapons)

Other:

  • L2 button and R2 button - Lock-On (explained under Weapons)
