Items Page[edit]

Just checking, but should the Items page(s) be continued? I've had mixed opinions on it. Check it here. It will look better sooner, I hope.

I saw it. you might want to sign your comments btw. i'm not sure it's a good idea. it'll basically just be a humongous list of pictures. Can't put much info for most of the items. Maybe if you wanted to do just event items or something, but listing every item in the game seems like a waste of space to me. IsaacGS 21:57, 3 March 2007 (CST)
lol, this is so noobish, how do I sign comments?

Title[edit]

It was moved as per wikipedia:Talk:MapleStory. Enochlau 14:08, 2 October 2005 (UTC) Im copying the text from there to here for reference sake.... --Prod-You 04:22, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Should this be called MapleStory instead? On the game's website, it's always spelt without the space, and staff sign with "MapleStory staff" on the news. Enochlau 06:02, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
Yea you are right. I looked through the website and it always refers to it as MapleStory. One thing to consider before changing the name is that the wikibooks link probably will break if the name is changed -- Prod-Me 12:08, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
That should be ok - we should be able to move the wikibooks article, or failing that, put a redirect in place. Enochlau 14:02, 2 October 2005 (UTC)
Done. Enochlau 14:09, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

Armor and Weapon pages[edit]

As was said a while ago, it would be pointless for this book to turn into a hidden street or sauna, so lets try to do something different. My view is that these pages should have recommendations of which items to get and when. Perhaps even to be merged into one "shopping" page or something since they are fairly closely linked. -- Prod-You 06:25, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

There are a few pages with listings of armors and weapons from the game which can be found linked from MapleStory/Items. All of this info can be found on Hidden-Street and Sauna already. Initially this stuff should be moved to the specific class section(s) that would need to wear those items. However, we should move towards discussing the advantages and disadvantages of wearing certain items. Perhaps a guide to which armors to buy and when, based on amount of money, and enemy trained on. --Prod-You 06:42, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
I moved most of the info to the MapleStory/Beginner/Armor page since they are mainly beginner items. Those lists need to be cut down so that only the important items are included, rather than everything (which is already covered nicely on hidden street). Also got rid of the items link from the main TOC. -- Prod-You 01:21, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

I'm thinking of merging the Armor and Weapons pages into an Equipment page, and moving all the equip guides to those pages. I'm thinking that the main job pages should only be for training locations and discussions about the classes. -- Prod (Talk) 23:32, 9 March 2007 (CST)

Unused images[edit]

I'm not going to list them all here (because there are hundreds of them), but Special:Unusedimages is full of MapleStory images, and it might be a good idea to get them used in the MapleStory guide before duplicates get uploaded. --DrBob (Talk) 07:17, 27 January 2007 (CST)

Some already have been duplicated. The rest are skills that should go on the guide pages... a section that's been fairly neglected as of late :X We'll work on it some. IsaacGS 20:48, 8 February 2007 (CST)
Actually, I don't think any have been duplicated. I made sure I only uploaded one of each (based on checksums). It's taking a little while to use them as there is a lot of content on the pages. So far I've finished the Beginner, Warrior, and Magician pages. Next is Thief since Bowman may take some rearranging. -- Prod (Talk) 00:36, 9 February 2007 (CST)

Amoria[edit]

Talk:MapleStory/Towns/Amoria I put it there, but i'm not sure anyone would see it. not sure it'll be seen here, but i figured this is more often viewed.IsaacGS 20:44, 8 February 2007 (CST)

Congrats on your wedding :P. One pic should be good enough. -- Prod (Talk) 23:58, 8 February 2007 (CST)

AMORIA PQ! data has started to appear in the GlobalMS's files. Not much known yet, just the names of the items. Definitely an expansion coming soon. IsaacGS 13:17, 19 April 2007 (CDT)

Quests page[edit]

I split it up according to locations. I think Omega Sector and Ludi quests should be combined into one level list. When KFT comes out in Global, it'll go there too. Riprey, Wuling, and Hundred grass can go on a separate page, and all the Original areas too. Perhaps break Victoria Island down into high level quests, and low level quests. IsaacGS 22:16, 7 March 2007 (CST)

I renamed the Orbis/Ludi to East and West Ossyria (based on the direction the train seems to go). I think you're right about merging Ludi/Omega Sector, since it's already done for the other places. It might also be useful to add a complete quests list to the main MapleStory/Quests page, similar to the monsters list. Perhaps a Maple Island list at the beginning, then sections by level, with columns for each continent. -- Prod (Talk) 23:48, 7 March 2007 (CST)
In the last global patch, a number of level requirements for quests were changed. In addition, the EXP rewards for a lot of them were also changed (Curse Dolls comes to mind). May need to investigate further in this, as i believe it's occurred in some versions already. IsaacGS 20:29, 15 April 2007 (CDT)

About the "East and West Ossyria" renames by Prod. Now that we have Ossyria maps. This should probably be changed. West Ossyria is not Orbis/El Nath/Aquarium, or East Ossyria is not Ludibrium/Omega Sector. Should we split the Quest up via Regions? Orbis and El Nath quests on "El Nath Mts." quest page. Aquarium quests on "Aqua Road" page, and Ludibrium/Omega Sector/Korean Folk Town quests on "Ludus Lake" page? Or, since Orbis/El Nath/Aquarium quests are already on one page. Just change "West Ossyria" to "El Nath Mts. and Aqua Road"? -- Takiten 21:37, 15 April 2007 (CDT)

Let's change it to the new area names. IsaacGS 22:10, 15 April 2007 (CDT)

Towns[edit]

The info from the "old page" needs to be merged into the separate towns pages. The header in the toc also needs a major clean up. It might actually be better to merge them into a few island pages, similar to the way the quests are split up, since each page on its own is fairly small. -- Prod (Talk) 23:48, 7 March 2007 (CST)

It might be sufficient to create a page for each island that links to the towns on that continent. Maybe even have the towns pop up in the TOC like they do now, but only those on the proper island. what do you think?IsaacGS 20:41, 8 March 2007 (CST)
I'm somewhat undecided, since each island has very little information apart from "it has these towns" if all the info goes on the specific towns pages. I was thinking, we leave all the transportation/icons on the main page, with links to Maple Island, Victoria Island, East Ossyria Island, West Ossyria Island and Marriage Towns in the All Game Nav. Then have all the towns in each Island on their page. Come to think of it, perhaps we should put the transportation stuff on each world page, and use the icons table as a form of Table of Contents to the other pages (like the Character classes table for the jobs). I can take care of getting the pages set up, I'll just need help cleanup up the pages after. -- Prod (Talk) 22:37, 8 March 2007 (CST)
Sounds good to me. Eventually though we'll have to integrate new towns like the Wuling/hundred grass island and Riprey. Also the original areas, as GMs continually drop hints that a global original area is on the way. IsaacGS 13:55, 9 March 2007 (CST)
Someone created Coke town, Adventurer Course, and i created an Herb Town page. all the towns now have their own pages, and i watched several videos of them to get a feel for the areas in the write-ups. Most of them are fairly long. Time to clear the main page. Another point: Should we use Wikipedia's Version Content page on here as well? it might help clarify what towns are available or unavailable. IsaacGS 20:00, 12 March 2007 (CDT)
I created the Coke town and the Adventurer Course pages. - Wkkim9292 22:17, 12 March 2007 (CDT)
I think that we should put the new Versions template on the main Towns page, along with the icons. In fact, i think we should combine the two templates by putting each icon next to the appropriate town in the Versions chart. That gives that page a purpose, and provides the launching point for each of the individual town's pages. Not to mention it'll allow the removal of those "This town is available in *version* only.* from each page. Now that it's on here, I also think it's fit to be expanded. IsaacGS 16:53, 19 March 2007 (CDT)
I was thinking the same thing. The only problem is that it has all sorts of other information as well. Maybe it needs to be split up into multiple templates? -- Prod (Talk) 17:26, 19 March 2007 (CDT)
yeah. Maybe remove features and just leave the towns and areas. I'm gonna look at it now and see what can be done with it. IsaacGS 19:22, 19 March 2007 (CDT)
I did a mock-up of the new tables on my user page. I added a few other areas with incomplete availability as well. Check it out and tell me what you think. IsaacGS 20:02, 19 March 2007 (CDT)
Is the Versions Content going to be put on the MapleStory page? - Wkkim9292 23:23, 19 March 2007 (CDT)
At some point. We're trying to decide how to do it right now. IsaacGS 13:45, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

I would prefer if we could find a place to keep the whole table together, to show an overall comparison of the versions, perhaps the patches page. I think that we should probably merge the Minigames and Other features templates. The locations stuff from this template should be merged with the location images and info from the /Towns page, and extra boxes added to show that they are in all versions. Also, the tables only need one heading each (I prefer the smaller ones, what do you think?). Finally, what are we going to name them all? Template:MapleStory/Versions/Areas or Template:MapleStory/Version area availability (Accompaniments, Jobs, and Other for the remaining groups). -- Prod (Talk) 17:54, 20 March 2007 (CDT)

Check This out: [1]

That's KMS' new town in the April patch. pretty cool. IsaacGS 18:34, 26 March 2007 (CDT)

GM events[edit]

Can/should we include these on here? a while back i had the opportunity to do a few different kinds of GM events, have some screenshots to go with it. They're all different, some operate like PQs, and others don't. IsaacGS 22:31, 25 March 2007 (CDT)

Do you mean that a page about the GM events should be created? It would be good if something about the GM Event is included. - Wkkim9292 02:44, 26 March 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, that's what I meant. Something like the Quests page, but geared toward GM events. IsaacGS 14:33, 26 March 2007 (CDT)
How do you think about creating a page MapleStory/Quests/GM Events? - Wkkim9292 15:48, 26 March 2007 (CDT)
Sounds good to me, maybe wait for a few more people to weigh in. My pics are of the Ola Ola event and coconut collecting. If anyone else has screens of different events that would help. IsaacGS 17:47, 26 March 2007 (CDT)

Coke Town no longer available in KMS.[edit]

I was wondering if we should change the town availability table for Coke Town from "Exclusive" on KMS to something else, since KMS doesn't have it anymore. We could either take Coke town completely off the chart, or put something like "Exclusive (Retired)" or simply just change it to "No"?. Any ideas? -- Takiten 00:17, 27 March 2007 (CDT)

I like retired. maybe there should be another section called "Limited Availability" which would have Happyville and coke Town in it? IsaacGS 13:41, 27 March 2007 (CDT)

Ludi Maze PQ[edit]

I heard this is now in KMS. is that true? or is it coming with the april patch? IsaacGS 20:59, 29 March 2007 (CDT)

Did you see this from the old town/areas template at wikipedia? Someone marked it as yes, but it was false, and reverted. -- Takiten 21:59, 3 April 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, that's where i saw it i believe. Ok. Hopefully i'll be able to get some info on it soon. -- IsaacGS 22:01, 3 April 2007 (CDT)
I just found Ludi PQ data in TaiwanMS's files. Doesn't look like it'll be exclusive to JMS much longer. IsaacGS 16:30, 26 April 2007 (CDT)

EuropeMS patch v0.22. (Big Update)[edit]

Anyone hear play EuropeMS? I heard they got a huge 220+ MB patch, and released a whole slew of things, including Adventurer Training Course, possibly Aqua Road, possibly Omega Sector, possibly Perion Excavation Site and Ruins, possibly Henesys Party Quest, possibly Sharenian Guild Quest, and inside the data, they have Leafre and Zipangu (not released yet). Most of these are unconfirmed, so we need someone to actually check this out. The patch notes revealed nothing. They also got placeholders for the World Tour Guide NPCs, and the Maple Home Delivery Trucks, without the NPC. Also Beginner Skills are confirmed, and Sign Posts in the towns. -- Takiten 11:50, 5 April 2007 (CDT)

The adventurer training course is confirmed. Perion Excavation Site is on the Victoria world map, but not released yet. I've seen a screenshot of the Henesys PQ NPC, but people say it says nothing when you click on him/her, so not sure if Henesys PQ is released yet. Since characters where wiped, I guess this is going to take awhile for people to find all the new stuff added in this version. -- Takiten 12:17, 5 April 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, i was just looking at all this too. Wow, who'd have though when we were kidding that EMS would pass global, it'd end up being true. >_> IsaacGS 13:38, 5 April 2007 (CDT)

Looks like the "Adventure Training Course" name in English is "Mushroom Town Training Camp"... Should we change it? -- Takiten 14:38, 5 April 2007 (CDT)

Yes, I think it is good to be changed. - Wkkim9292 21:40, 5 April 2007 (CDT)

In KoreaMS Tespia Patch 1.2.80...[edit]

Coke Town is available again. - Wkkim9292 21:55, 5 April 2007 (CDT)

We should probably wait and see if Official KMS gets Coke Town back before changing everything back to the way it was in the article. -- Takiten 23:34, 5 April 2007 (CDT)
if it does come back, it's still worth mentioning that it was temporarily removed, as that's never happened before. IsaacGS 01:18, 6 April 2007 (CDT)

The Road Names in KoreaMS Tespia are changed.[edit]

For example, Orbis used to be Orbis:Orbis, but now it became Sky Road:Orbis in KoreaMS Tespia. Leafre's Road name is changed too. After the world maps had been added in KoreaMS Tespia Patch 1.2.80, they were changed. And by the way, Ariant is Burning Road:Ariant. - Wkkim9292 22:05, 6 April 2007 (CDT)

Wow, you gotta get all that information. We used to keep all the road names in the Icons chart awhile back, maybe with these new road names, we can re-add them. -- Takiten 23:30, 6 April 2007 (CDT)
Currently, there are very few informations in KoreaMS websites. It has been only 1 or 2 days since the the street names were changed. I will get all of these informations when the official KoreaMS changes the street names in this month's patch. - Wkkim9292 00:17, 7 April 2007 (CDT)
It's really hard to get info from Tespia... We may have to wait until it comes out officially to get all the names. IsaacGS 13:41, 7 April 2007 (CDT)

I got a friend (you know who you are) to extract every single road and map name from KMST. I sorted through it and sent all the road names to Wkkim9292's email to be translated. From what I've translated on my own:

  • Omega Sector and Korean Folk Town have the same road names = "Ludus Lake"
  • Mu Lung and Herb Town have the same road names = "Mureung Garden". Might be changed to Mu Lung Garden in English, who knows.
  • Each of the towers have their own road names. Orbis Tower, Eos Tower, Helios Tower, ect.
  • Orbis is now Sky Road, as already mentioned.
  • El Nath's new road is "El Nath Mountain" or something like that now.
  • El Nath Dungeon is a road name now from the first level 50+ map onward.
  • Ludibrium and Upper Clock Tower has a new road name. Might be "Ludibrium Castle"?
  • Deep Clock Tower has a new road name.
  • Leafre has at least 2-3 different road names now. I think the main road is "Minar Forest".
  • Aqua Dungeon didn't get a new road name, just keeps "Aqua Road", along with the rest of Aqua Road. But I noticed the main town isn't Aquarium : Aquarium anymore, it's Aqua Road : Aquarium.
  • The main towns in all of Ossyria have the new road name, but all the subtown maps like houses, market areas, village portions of town, ect, keep the old road names. Like Burning Road : Ariant = Main town. Ariant : Ariant Village = One of the subtown maps. All the orbis shop maps, houses, station maps, ect keep the old "Orbis" road name. All the houses and subtown areas in Ludibrium have a "Ludibrium Village" road name, the shops keep "Ludibrium".
  • All the hunting grounds for every ossyria town have the new road names.
  • Maple Island and Victoria Island didn't have any road name changes. Still says "Dungeon" for the Sleepywood and Ant Tunnel.
  • Coke Town didn't get a new road name. Just keeps "Hidden Street".
  • All the world tour maps keep their old road names: Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand.
  • Basically, there are tons and tons of road names now lol. -- Takiten 17:01, 7 April 2007 (CDT)
I don't think we should change it all to "Aquarium". Aqua Road is Aqua Road, that's what everyone has always called it. Aquarium is merely a tiny portion, while Aqua Road includes everything underwater, up to B2 of Orbis Tower. I think it even refers to the area on the map as Aqua Road... IsaacGS 17:23, 8 April 2007 (CDT)
But, every other town's hunting ground area as a whole is called by the main town name. I think we should put the Road names in all the town specific pages. Now that I have all the translations. Now we can say "You can find Lucidas at the very end of Sky Road" rather than "At the end of Orbis's hunting grounds". But I guess changing it now might confuse people, since only KMST has the new road names. If we call all the towns by what they are called on the world map, then we'd have to change Korean Folk Town and Omega Sector to "Ludus Lake"... I guess there are just some things that can't change. -- Takiten 19:02, 8 April 2007 (CDT)

I updated the Aquarium Page. I think that might work. -- Takiten 19:28, 8 April 2007 (CDT)

That's good, it starts to transition to the new names. I think one reason other areas may be referred to by their town's name as opposed to the road's name is because towns like Orbis and El Nath and Ludi are enormous, and Aquarium is almost more like a restock spot along the way, like the 24 hour store. IsaacGS 19:53, 8 April 2007 (CDT)

Minigames[edit]

Should we make a minigames section? Now that MSEA has Fishing we can get some real information on it. Gachapon, Match Cards, Omok, Rock/Paper/Scissors, Fishing system and then Fishing king, PVP, plus Pachinko in JMS, so there's rather a lot of them. Could be more on the way, too. IsaacGS 13:40, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

Sounds good to me. -- Prod (Talk) 19:43, 12 April 2007 (CDT)

English Names for Xi Men Ding and Korean Folk Town[edit]

I have extracted MapleSEA Map.wz and found Taiwan maps related files. One of them were called Seo Moon Jeong. In KoreaMS, Xi Men Ding is called Seo Moon Jeong(서문정) as well. In MapHelper.img, it has Korean Folk Town's map icon and it is called Folkvillage. Should the names of these maps get changed? - Wkkim9292 18:09, 14 April 2007 (CDT)

If you look in the string.wz, you can see all the road and map names for everything currently in the data. Korean Folk Town main town map, street and map name is "Korean Folk Town". There are no Taiwan related street/map names in the string.wz. So I think we should just keep Xi Men Ding the way it is until we get the english street/map name. Folkvilliage.png is just the icon's name. Like Mushroom Shrine's icon is "jipangu.png" and Showa Town's icon is "shouwa.png". Lith Harbor's icon is "Rith.png". A lot of the icon filenames are weird/misspelled/untranslated. -- Takiten 18:12, 14 April 2007 (CDT)

I found in the MapleSEA data, a few possible map names for Xi Men Ding called "Back Ally of Taipei" and "Taipei Route". Compared it with JMS's data, and found "西門町裏道2" "西門路". They are not actual maps, but the first one does say "West Gate Town Side Street 2" in English, which could translate to "Back Ally of Taipei" by Nexon's terms. I'm thinking this will be the official English name of Xi Men Ding. "Taipei". I also made this suggestion a few months ago on wikipedia discussion. But we can always wait till we get the map names from one of the english versions is added to the street/map portion of the data. But this looks promising that Xi Men Ding will be named Taipei. Taipei is the capital of Taiwan in the real world. Night Market is also listed in there, but we already have that name down. -- Takiten 22:20, 20 April 2007 (CDT)

New monster on Tespia KMS 1.2.82[edit]

I have no idea what its name is I can't read korean but here a picture and its korean name its a reaper or something I also add the new pet in the pet page "Sonokong"

- 리치 Lv.?? Click Here

DarkNShadow 20:32, 18 April 2007 (CDT)

It is not a pet and it is a new monster. 리치 translates to Leech and it is absolutely not a pet. - Wkkim9292 21:26, 18 April 2007 (CDT)

I was wondering about this. Finally found it. It's a Lich, it appears on Zombie maps. Still don't know what level it is though, but presumably close to 57 like Zombie. IsaacGS 23:09, 18 April 2007 (CDT)

I think you misunderstand him he say he also added a new pet to the pet page call "Sonokong." ~MΛRXΘΓ~ =] Want to?/Wi-Fi Gaming 23:21, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
That was added as well. There's also a new level 200 mount, anyone got a pic of that (not that pixelized one on the KMS site). IsaacGS 23:42, 18 April 2007 (CDT)
A picture of it? The level 200 Characters in KoreaMS Tespia are created yesterday and they are the characters which are created by the administrators. Its picture can't be seen unless the administrators take the picture of it and upload it to MapleStory website. - Wkkim9292 00:29, 19 April 2007 (CDT)

I'm not really talking about the NPCs. I meant that level 200 Dragon can be ridden so... Must be a separate image. IsaacGS 13:16, 19 April 2007 (CDT)

TaiwanMS .50[edit]

Does anyone know the contents of this patch? the only thing i can find evidence of is the fishing system. There's got to be more than that, after all this is Taiwan we're talking about, they caught up to JMS in like 8 months. IsaacGS 17:01, 20 April 2007 (CDT)

Didn't TaiwanMS get the fishing system awhile back? It's been marked as "Yes" since v0.46. -- Takiten 17:56, 20 April 2007 (CDT)
That's what i thought too, but the 4/25 link takes me to the fishing lagoon. They've got some new cash items featured there from KMST. That's all I can see though. TaiwanMS, as far as i Know, has never gotten a patch without at least some content. IsaacGS 20:52, 20 April 2007 (CDT)
Would 4th Job Advancement be added on that patch? Because KoreaMS, JapanMS got it after getting Floating Market and ChinaMS is going to have 4th job for next patch and got Floating Market for last patch. - Wkkim9292 21:52, 20 April 2007 (CDT)
I would think there would be some kind of picture evidence of 4th jobs being released though. It's possible it could be a run of the mill "no new content" patch. But there was a specific page on their website that showed them releasing Henesys PQ and the Fishing System back for v0.46. -- Takiten 22:23, 20 April 2007 (CDT)
Well, because it's a stupid annoying flash thing, i can't translate it... I really wish we had some players of CMS/TMS on here helping. IsaacGS 22:40, 20 April 2007 (CDT)
I agree with you IsaacGS. I have been trying to find CMS/TMS users in Sleepywood and sent messages but they said they don't play CMS/TMS and they play GlobalMS. It is hard to find CMS/TMS players. - Wkkim9292 02:47, 21 April 2007 (CDT)

A TaiwanMS fansite added info for the Tengu Mushroom Shrine monsters and Maps and the Showa Hideout monsters and maps. So I think it is safe to say TaiwanMS v0.50 will probably add the rest of Zipangu (minus the new Maple Castle from JMST). -- Takiten 23:27, 23 April 2007 (CDT)

As far as I can tell, TaiwanMS didn't get any new maps at all in this patch. -- Takiten 09:21, 25 April 2007 (CDT)
You're right, They still don't have Showa Mansion or Black Crow (that's Tengu's name now, right?) Boss area. IsaacGS 18:27, 26 April 2007 (CDT)
Hi, just got here. TaiwanMS released a new character info window with their marriage status and other info. There is also the VIP fishing rod and bait. and Mother's day quests and 2 men PQ located in Night Market(Not sure if its a permanent add). And a lvl 70 quest redoable and gives out large amount of EXP. Lancerex6 09:01, 22 May 2007 (CDT)

I just finished extracting it all anyway. It's mostly right. IsaacGS 21:19, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
Wow, JapanMS gets level 180 boss? Does that mean the third town in Zipangu is going to be added? - Wkkim9292 22:31, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
I don't know if there is a town or non-monster maps in this new area or not. I think It's just an expansion to Mushroom Shrine, although the backdrop and foreground don't look like Mushroom Shrine anymore. -- Takiten 23:08, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
Yeah, that place is really something. I don't know if there's a new town or not either, i'll run a check for new NPCs tomorrow. IsaacGS 23:13, 22 April 2007 (CDT)

After checking it out, The first map is a main town map. When you die, or use a return to nearest town scroll, you get sent to the Maple Castle entrance. There are NPCs that sell weapons/armors and give out quests. There are some more NPCs in the first hunting ground map too. Also a hidden potion shop is inside the castle. -- Takiten 09:23, 25 April 2007 (CDT)

A new map was added to the Kaede Castle in the latest JapanMS patch. I wonder how you get there. Oh and It doesn't look like Kaede Castle will get it's own minimap icon. It's still using the Mushroom Shrine icon, and the town map still has no icon. -- Takiten 15:39, 30 May 2007 (CDT)

Monster list[edit]

On the Monster page now we should move "Level 111-199" to "Level 111-200" because of MapleStory/Monsters/Level 111-199#Boulder. -- ~MΛRXΘΓ~ =] Want to?/Wi-Fi Gaming 21:42, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
It's probably some sort of quest monster or unattackable or something. I wonder what it's purpose is. let's leave it alone. IsaacGS 21:50, 22 April 2007 (CDT)

The quest monster page is for all special "quests", not just JQs (this includes pq's and the gq). -- Prod (Talk) 21:59, 22 April 2007 (CDT)

OK but I got a better idea why don't we combine quest and event monster together into one page? -- ~MΛRXΘΓ~ =] Want to?/Wi-Fi Gaming 22:14, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
Event monsters are temporary, quest monsters are permanent (and often invincible). However, MapleStory/Monsters/Events may be useful. -- Prod (Talk) 22:18, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
As long as they still appear in the normal list i'm for it. IsaacGS 22:22, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
I personally don't like duplication, so I'd rather we choose one or the other. I don't think the event monsters are important enough to keep in the main lists since they are typically only there for a week or two. -- Prod (Talk) 22:32, 22 April 2007 (CDT)
OK I am finish with the Event monster page but I didn't delete any from the normal list. -- ~MΛRXΘΓ~ =] Want to?/Wi-Fi Gaming 00:21, 23 April 2007 (CDT)

ChinaMS[edit]

I'm now downloading it, by far it's taking the longest of any version. I think this will pretty much complete my collection. XD I hope i find some other cool new monsters like those i found in TaiwanMS. One of the main reasons i'm downloading it is to find out about that Egg. IsaacGS 19:15, 26 April 2007 (CDT)

Interestingly, I had speculated that ChinaMS would never see Taiwan because the two countries' governments don't recognize each other. However, Taiwan monster data is all over the place in here. Very strange to me. IsaacGS 14:36, 27 April 2007 (CDT) ::While i was disappointed in not finding any new monsters, i did learn another thing: All those strange boss monsters i found in TaiwanMS's data, are also in ChinaMS's. Could they have something to do with Yuyuan? --IsaacGS 15:03, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
Is Zipangu Data in there as well? - Wkkim9292 17:09, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
They have monster data, but no maps. --IsaacGS 18:18, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
By the way, what are the strange boss monsters? - Wkkim9292 17:11, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
I think it is Yuyuan monster, because I saw one of the monster's picture in ThailandMS PVP Patch Preview. - Wkkim9292 17:18, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
That's strange, i thought there were no monster maps there. Is it one of the ones you compete with the other person to kill? It's not located in the same point in the data as the other PVP monsters, though. --IsaacGS 18:17, 27 April 2007 (CDT)

Is anyone here able to download ThailandMS? I've been trying to get this client to extract data and what not, but the FTP always refuses my connection, and the bittorrent version they offer takes 40+ hours to download, and the file is always corrupt when I do manage to get it. ThailandMS is bound to have a few English maps that MapleSEA, GlobalMS, and EuropeMS don't have yet, like the PVP arena maps. -- Takiten 18:46, 27 April 2007 (CDT)

That's true, it's the only version i haven't downloaded yet. Guess i'll give that one a try. --IsaacGS 18:55, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
I have been trying to download ThailandMS, but error keep occurs. - Wkkim9292 19:15, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
Same here, it's not working. Wonder if it's a temporary thing or an IP thing. --IsaacGS 19:25, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
I imagine they only allow Thailand IP/Residences to download it. I've been trying to download it for like the last 6 months. -- Takiten 19:32, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
I was looking for some mirrors online, couldn't find any. Pretty bad that i had to put "-hacks" into my search terms just so i could see legitimate results >_> --IsaacGS 19:40, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
I think that only logged on people can download ThailandMS. - Wkkim9292 19:45, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
Even though they banned Americans from MapleSEA (Which, btw, should be mentioned somewhere in here), i still have the account, which is an Asiasoft passport. Theoretically i can use it on the ThaiMS site. Let's give it a shot. --IsaacGS 20:01, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
I have heard it on Sleepywood Forum that USA/Canada are blocked from MapleSEA. Is New Zealand blocked from MapleSEA? Because I live there. - Wkkim9292 20:08, 27 April 2007 (CDT)
My Asiasoft passport still works for SEA, but it doesn't work for ThaiMS. They have separate passports for SEA games and Thai games, apparently. --IsaacGS 20:13, 27 April 2007 (CDT)

Does Ariant have a Party Quest?[edit]

Or did we just assume that Monster Carnival was the Ariant PQ? I can't seem to find any info on a Ariant PQ at all. -- Takiten 13:34, 30 April 2007 (CDT)

The carnival is completely separate, it's a temporary thing (Though very cool) for their anniversary. The Ariant PQ is somewhat similar though, from what i remember it's two different parties competing to complete it at the same time, and it takes place inside the Palace. IsaacGS 15:10, 30 April 2007 (CDT)
Ariant doesn't have a PQ. - Wkkim9292 22:44, 30 April 2007 (CDT)
I Figured as much. -- Takiten 23:06, 30 April 2007 (CDT)
It doesn't? I wonder where that rumor got started then. Are you sure it isn't just not out yet? IsaacGS 13:25, 1 May 2007 (CDT)
I think people were thinking the Monster Carnival was in Ariant only, so that's how the whole Ariant PQ rumor started. BTW, the Monster Carnival is level 35-50. -- Takiten 14:51, 1 May 2007 (CDT)
That really sucks... The way i understood how the Monster carnival worked, anyone could go in, but you could only challenge a party made up of people that were +/-10 levels of you. IsaacGS 15:13, 1 May 2007 (CDT)
If there's no Ariant PQ, there's an awful lot of worthless town maps then... Look at the map renders here --IsaacGS 15:21, 1 May 2007 (CDT)
Most of those maps look like useless house maps, like all the useless houses in Ludibrium Village. I think Leafre and Mu Lung have several useless house maps too. The palace maps, could just be a bunch of useless maps to make the palace feel bigger and more grand. Could just be a bunch of placeholders for future NPCs. -- Takiten 17:53, 1 May 2007 (CDT)

TaiwanMS's new version original map, 魔登101[edit]

Looks like they are getting another new original map. Looks like a shopping mall. Check out the main site. I believe it's coming out May 30th. It has level 60~ purfume monsters and Hair/Eye Salons too. No idea what the name translates to in English. Using online translators just gives "Demon Nobori" or "Demon Teng". I think it is based off of Taipei 101. -- Takiten 12:46, 12 May 2007 (CDT)

Sweet! i love that building. When they patch it in i'll extract the data immediately. IsaacGS 14:20, 12 May 2007 (CDT)
Are these maps in their data yet? - Wkkim9292 17:14, 12 May 2007 (CDT)
They haven't patched since the last time i extracted, so i don't think so. IsaacGS 17:15, 12 May 2007 (CDT)
"魔登101" is romanized to "Mo Deng 101" (The Demon Tower). -- PiPU 15:59, 28 May 2007 (CDT)

Anyone think we should use the name "The Demon Tower 101" instead of "Taipei 101"? We can just reference it to the Taipei 101 on the Formosa page. -- Takiten 18:35, 28 May 2007 (CDT)

Hm, let's wait a few more days till it comes out, and see what the community consensus is. --IsaacGS 18:38, 28 May 2007 (CDT)

Either way, this area is going to be like Aqua Road. By that I mean, when people talk about aqua road, they say "Aqua Road" instead of Aquarium. Aquarium is just the town inself, while the area is Aqua Road. Taipei 101's town is just called "101 Avenue" if my Chinese is correct. But chances are, people will call it Taipei 101, or Demon Tower 101, refering to the whole area. All other areas just have the same area and town name by consensus. -- Takiten 21:12, 28 May 2007 (CDT)

I get the feeling it'll probably end up just being referred to as "101", most people just call "Ludibrium" Ludi, "El Nath" Nath, and so on. 101 is short and easy, so I see that becoming it's colloquial name... --IsaacGS 21:26, 28 May 2007 (CDT)
"魔登101" is officially called "Modern 101", and I have the newest release note on TaiwanMS on my userpage if anyone is interested whats in the new patch. - Lancerex6 23:00, 29 May 2007 (CDT)
Are you sure Lancerex6? It says "魔登101" all over the TaiwanMS site, like here. -- Takiten 23:20, 29 May 2007 (CDT)
I know, but 魔登101 is translated into Modern 101 as 魔登 is a commonly used word in Taiwan meaning "Modern" because of it's pronounce Mo Deng. - Lancerex6 23:24, 29 May 2007 (CDT)

ChinaMS Guild Quest[edit]

Most People thought ChinaMS doesn't have Guild Quest, but this thread on Sleepywood Forum shows that ChinaMS has Guild Quest.

This is the link [2] - Wkkim9292 23:53, 13 May 2007 (CDT)

Yeah I figured ChinaMS had that all along, I guess they just never made a huge announcement of it on the website, or we would have spotted it. -- Takiten 18:18, 14 May 2007 (CDT)
We should have noticed this when they got 4th job, after all most skill books come from it in some form... IsaacGS 21:30, 14 May 2007 (CDT)

I'm willing to bet ChinaMS has Legendary Spirit, Mounts, and maybe Henesys PQ by now too, but did not announce them on their site. -- Takiten 22:36, 14 May 2007 (CDT)

I'll check my extraction of CMS again... IsaacGS 13:49, 15 May 2007 (CDT)

Henesys PQ, only a limited time event party quest?[edit]

I noticed JMS does not have Henesys PQ anymore. I wonder if other versions took it out too. Or maybe they just moved the NPC? I couldn't find ウサチャン where she normally is, in Henesys Market, Mushroom Park I meant. -- Takiten 22:04, 16 May 2007 (CDT)

It's not a limited event because KoreaMS still has it. - Wkkim9292 22:43, 16 May 2007 (CDT)

That's weird... Not sure what to say. Guess JMS just doesn't have it anymore, unless the NPC is somewhere else. I'll try looking around Henesys for her. -- Takiten 13:14, 17 May 2007 (CDT)

ThailandMS Patch 0.34[edit]

ThailandMS is getting Formosa(Xi Men Ding and Night Market) and World Tour Guide. The official name is Formosa and Xi Men Ding is an official name to. Here is the link about this information. [3] - Wkkim9292 01:45, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Formosa is probably like the name of the whole area, similar to Zipangu, whereas Xi Men Ding is the Town's name. IsaacGS 13:32, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Yeah I already went through and changed "Xi Men Ding" to "Ximending" and most of the mentions of "Taiwan" to "Formosa". -- Takiten 14:04, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

World Tour Names[edit]

I think we should change all the links that say "Japan" and "Taiwan" in the article(s) and just change them to the english names "Zipangu" and "Formosa". We can always keep the road name differences in the individual articles, but I think it would be easier to just say "Zipangu" and "Formosa" instead of "Japan" and "Taiwan". Floating Market's continent name will likely stay "Floating Market" in English too, instead of being changed to "Thailand". -- Takiten 14:04, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

I had thought about this, and while I like the idea in some respects, it leaves a few problems. I tend to think that the names in our world tour section more refer to what version the area come from than the area itself. For instance, a global area would be called "Global" on our chart instead of whatever its name is. IsaacGS 14:27, 23 May 2007 (CDT)
I don't know, I like to think if I were someone coming to this article looking for info on Zipangu, I would be looking for the name "Zipangu" rather than "Japan". Same for the other names. We can always note in the individual pages which version each continent originated from. -- Takiten 14:48, 23 May 2007 (CDT)
Well, as long as it doesn't involve moving the pages that works for me. IsaacGS 15:15, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

New Maple TVs.[edit]

The latest MapleSEA patch added Maple TVs for: Lith Harbor, Sleepywood, Omega Sector, Korean Folk Town, Leafre, Mu Lung, Herb Town, Amoria, Mushroom Shrine, Showa Town, Kaede Castle, Shanghai Wai-Tan, Yuyuan Garden, Ximending, Night Market, Floating Market, and one or two more that I cannot identify. One might be for Ariant, and the other looks like another chinese town that I haven't seen yet. Doubt it could be for the Taipei 101, since that town is so new. -- Takiten 18:11, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Wait, MapleSEA doesn't have Amoria, and last i checked no traces of it, either. O_O IsaacGS 23:34, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

MapleSEA doesn't have a lot of what I just listed. But I think they are making Maple TV's for every town in the game, and just bundling it all together. So even though MapleSEA probably won't get Amoria, they got the TV for it anyway. This is the maple tv I cannot figure out what town it goes to. I believe the only towns that don't have a maple tv yet are the Maple Island towns (obviously), florina beach, coke town, ariant, and taipei 101. -- Takiten 23:41, 24 May 2007 (CDT)

Ximending spelling[edit]

Just played TaiwanMS Tespia, i found out that Ximen is spelt Hsimen in the 101 station. I know for a fact that its spelt with Ximen in real life. So which one is the right spelling in MS? Lancerex6 02:25, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Ximending is the right spelling in MapleStory because ThailandMS is getting Ximending with the name Ximending (they use English for Road/Area names). - Wkkim9292 04:30, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

Thailand New Map?[edit]

I have read through this article and a guy call PiPU talked about new Thailand map (Thai Temple Map) released in ThailandMS. I know that PiPU plays ThailandMS because he is a member of Wikipedia and Strategywiki and I think he owns a ThailandMS info website. He said that one of the new MapleTV is on Thai Temple Map's theme. Does anyone know if the new town exist in ThailandMS or not? - Wkkim9292 21:41, 25 May 2007 (CDT)

I wouldn't be surprised. Since JapanMS and TaiwanMS extended their original maps with new towns, It's only natural that ThailandMS would do the same. Maybe ChinaMS will extend their original area as well. -- Takiten 23:08, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
ThaiMS has IP restrictions on even downloading, so I can't look at it... I'm very interested in finding out. That TV definitely looks Thai to me... IsaacGS 23:09, 25 May 2007 (CDT)
Then, let's find out guys. How about one of us contact PiPU? - Wkkim9292 01:49, 26 May 2007 (CDT)
Go for it. :P --IsaacGS 18:37, 26 May 2007 (CDT)

Hi All ^^~, I have found the map tile "templeTH" in ThMS 0.29 Data.wz but Wizet got removed it in 0.30. Then in 0.30, I found new Thailand-related item in Character.wz and Item.wz... They are "Red Goblin 's Axe", "Baby Monkey's Nursing bottle", "White Monkey doll", "Blue Goblin's crown", "Stone Goblin's Red Pants" and "Thai Boss Mob Hat" [4] All item looks like Thailand epic "Ramakien". the boss hat is "Thotsakan (Ravana)" hat that use in Thai dance "Khon". And in the wall of "Wat Phra Kaew" have the paint representation of "Ramakien". In my opinion, this map will patches for ThailandMS before October. Because GM in ThMS said "Leafre for October and then 4th Job (in this year)" ^0^ -- PiPU 15:51, 28 May 2007 (CDT)

Awesome. Nice work. Can't wait to see how it looks. IsaacGS 17:23, 28 May 2007 (CDT)

References[edit]

I'm quite surprised to see that StrategyWiki is much different from Wikipedia because it doesn't cite references. Should we bring this good habit back to here? OhanaUnited 05:56, 1 June 2007 (CDT)

There's no reason to cite sources, most of it really is what Wikipedia would call "Original Research". It's the author's recommendations and idea of how the game should be played. Now, when it comes to things like our MapleStory MapleStory/Monsters/Complete List list, we always provide our source for adding new monsters or towns here. Personally, i find some ideas on Wikipedia, like the absolute necessity of citing sources, to be rather restricting, and its one reason I like editing this a lot more. There is NPOV to an extent, and entries do need to be encyclopedic, but the nature of this wiki requires a bit of a more personal perspective with writing. I hope I've explained this well, if not someone else can step in to correct me. --IsaacGS 13:43, 1 June 2007 (CDT)

Attacks on WP article.[edit]

A user called "Anti-Maplestory" has registered on WP and seems pretty intent on disinformation in our article... I figured it was better to talk about it here out of his/her sight. --IsaacGS 23:32, 3 June 2007 (CDT)

I'll keep an eye on him and if he starts vandalizing the article (that is putting up non-sense or wrong info) then I'll message the admins. OhanaUnited 00:41, 4 June 2007 (CDT)
He is called Anti-Maplestory and he is suspicious. He didn't start of with vandalism but he came to Wikipedia to do what he has planned to do. Isaac, do you think that he could be Cedricong? - Wkkim9292 01:01, 4 June 2007 (CDT)
Hope so, (kinda) they've got checkuser over there so if sum1 can say to an admin that'd be really good. P.S Read Wikipedia's naming conventions and he's breaking the first point of rule no.5, if it becomes a request for comment situation then pipe in about Cedricong--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 02:41, 4 June 2007 (CDT)
Seems too literate to be Cedricong, he couldn't even spell or manage wikimarkup very well. The style reminded me of an angry parent more than just an ex-mapler. The information on that page was pretty limited. --IsaacGS 09:51, 4 June 2007 (CDT)
If he is not Cedricong and someone else, he could come here(StrategyWiki) by the link and add controversies in here. How can we prevent it? - Wkkim9292 02:42, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
Why would he, we're doing a guide, not info on MS, anyway we can always block him.--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 03:35, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
His goal is to stop people from playing, and a guide where new players would be reading is a good place to stop them. Just precautionary. --IsaacGS 11:56, 6 June 2007 (CDT)
I'm going to request admins for deleting this username. OhanaUnited 08:36, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
You can't delete usernames when they've made edits but on WP you can have your name and contribs moved to another name. I also really hope that you're talking about Anti Maplestory :P--Rocky Rally-X Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 09:12, 9 June 2007 (CDT)
Na, an admin already started questioning why he (assuming he) uses this username and if he doesn't give a good explanation that username has to be renamed =) OhanaUnited 12:20, 10 June 2007 (CDT)

TaiwanMS 4th Job[edit]

Looks like TaiwanMS will be getting 4th job this month. There's a countdown clock that says 17 days right now. --IsaacGS 22:34, 9 June 2007 (CDT)

They are getting 4th Job in 27th of June. I have already updated the versions content template. - Wkkim9292 22:41, 10 June 2007 (CDT)
Eh, I'd hold off on that for a while, i know a lot of people are still coming through to see the Taipei monsters. man, two really awesome patches in a row, just like JMS. --IsaacGS 02:44, 11 June 2007 (CDT)

Quest differences between MapleSEA and GlobalMS Zipangu.[edit]

There are several NPC differences between each versions Mushroom Shrine maps. The NPCs Hikari and Hanako are have totally different uses between JapanMS/MapleSEA and GlobalMS. Hikari runs the Showa Bath House in JapanMS/MapleSEA, while she gives out quests at Mushroom Shrine in GlobalMS. Hanako is a NPC armor shop in Showa Town in JapanMS/MapleSEA, yet she is in Mushroom Shrine giving out quests in GlobalMS. Thunder the Samurai is a NPC in MapleSEA and JapanMS that sells a few weapons at Mushroom Shrine, yet this NPC does not exist in GlobalMS's Mushroom Shrine, not sure about KoreaMS. All the quests that are given out by Kino Konoko, Hikari, and Hanako in GlobalMS don't exist in JapanMS or MapleSEA. These quest do however exist in KoreaMS's Mushroom Shrine. Anyway, I just wanted to point this out because I was thinking we need to mark these GlobalMS quests in the Japan/Zipangu quest article as KoreaMS/GlobalMS Only, to keep MapleSEA players from being confused why they can't find these quests in their version. -- Takiten 11:17, 14 June 2007 (CDT)

KoreaMS has Hikari and Hanako in Mushroom Shrine as well. KoreaMS has Thunder the Samurai. If Hikari and Hanako are in Mushroom Shrine in KoreaMS and GlobalMS, does this mean that it has been confirmed they are not getting Showa Town? - Wkkim9292 22:39, 13 June 2007 (CDT)
No, it's just a bad sign... but there's some subtle hints on the Nexon page (between crashes anyway >_>) about Showa, so i'm still optimistic it'll be added eventually.--IsaacGS 22:49, 13 June 2007 (CDT)

Guild Quest[edit]

We're lacking information on this. Can someone provide more details? OhanaUnitedTalk page 07:25, 14 June 2007 (CDT)

I've only done it once on a very weak character, so the info I had was limited by the fact that I had to go kill devil slimes and missed several stages. Also I never got to see the boss cause I died instantly, and before I could walk back they had killed it. My own guild is pretty tough to motivate so I haven't been able to even get 6 people on to try it. Since Guild Quest doesn't give EXP it's not very popular, so it's hard to get enough people to do it sometimes. The fact that the boss is pretty strong also makes it hard. It would be a lot better if we could find someone who did it regularly. On a side note after all the emergency server checks I hope to try Amoria PQ today.--IsaacGS 13:24, 14 June 2007 (CDT)

Is EuropeMS still Beta?[edit]

I thought EuropeMS officially opened on 31 May 2007 and it is no longer Open Beta and now it is official. Is EuropeMS officially released yet or not? - Wkkim9292 17:33, 15 June 2007 (CDT)

Not sure, but I just glanced at the EMS page, and didn't see anything saying Beta anymore, so it might be in Official mode now. -- Takiten 17:59, 15 June 2007 (CDT)
When a version opens the cash shop, it becomes official. so yeah, No more beta. I've been meaning to remove the beta tags. --IsaacGS 20:12, 15 June 2007 (CDT)
