==Level 34: Cypher II==
Go down and push the top left block into the button. Push the other block left into another button. Reveal the chip below and pick up all the chips on the left side. Step D2RLDL2D2R6URURL3RDLDUDRDU2D2LRLULRLD. Push the bottom two blocks up to the top buttons. Move the right block onto the east button and push the other block up. Take the remaining chips and put both blocks onto the buttons. Run past the traps below you and go left of the red door. Go 2UDRLRL2U7R2DLRLRU2DR3D2LDLRLU3LDLRL and pass the blue door. Continue L3U2RD2R2URLR2D2RU2R6D4LULRL and down through the teleport. Pass the next trap and use the two blocks on the right to blow up two bombs. Step RDR4D and do the same. Go 2R2ULDRD and push left. Push the far right block into the top row, and then the next block SE of you. Push the far right block down and then the block above you. Now, move the free block right and the block on the far right of the central overhand up. Blow up the last bomb on the bottom and get the chip. Continue U4R and push the block up and left. Get the chip under the dirt and step up. Run right to the next set of traps. Pass over them and go to the last section. Circle right to the top right blue wall. Pick up the chip and go through the wall. Push the top block and then the bottom block. Reveal the two chips to the left and push the other two block right. Pass the wall and step 2DUD2LRL2R2DUDR2D2LU5L3U2RLR2L3D3R2U. Hit the tank button twice and move left to the trap button. Open the trap, go around the tank, and run right to the exit. You score 404. If you look closely at the level when it is finished, the blocks (in the left two rooms) and the walls (in the right two rooms) spell out MAER, the password to level 145 (Gauntlet).
This level is rather similar in concept to the original Cypher, but has absolutely no resemblance stylistically. If you look closely at the level when it is finished, the blocks in the left two rooms and the walls in the right two rooms spell out MAER, the password to level 145 (Gauntlet).

To arrive at this, step past the hint and push the closest block downwards, then the block east of that onto the button to the left as well.

Reveal the chip below and pick up all the chips on the left side, from top to bottom, and from the lowest chip, step D2RLDL2DR6URU3RDLDUDRDU2D2LRLULRLD in order to clear out the west and center. Push the first two of the blocks on the bottom up to the top buttons, shunt the third up, and move the fourth onto the east button. At this point, push the third block upwards and hug the central area to collect all but two of the chips in the area (one available and one under a dirt). Take the first chip, reveal the second, and move both loose blocks onto the buttons, which will collect the second chip in the process. Move eastward and run over the bottom pathway of traps to exit the "M" and move to the "A".

Run further upwards (avoid the traps!) and open the wall to the west of the red door to reveal a chip. Continue moving: 2UDRLRL2U7R2DLRLRU2DR3D2LDLRLU3LDLRLU, to collect the yellow and red keys, then escape through the blue door and resume: L3U2RD2R2URLR2D2RU2R6D4LULRL, down over the trap, and through the teleport, which will transport you to the E.

Begin by peeling off the two blocks on the right to blow up two bombs; step RDR4D and mirror this on the bottom. Resume 2R2ULDRD, push left, then touch the dirt above you on the way up. Use the now-loose block on the right, which releases another block just next to you. Follow with that one, then use the now-loose block on the right (again) to blow up another bomb and free more blocks. However, collect the loose block that is one square diagonally from you and push it into this row first, so as to begin from the location of bomb five instead of four (which wastes two moves). Shove the freed block two spaces east, and then divert north; the far eastern block on the center of the E is usable. Resume using the other block to finish the lower row, and dig into the last reserves of the E, which will uncover a chip under the dirt. Finish the top row and collect the chip under the dirt, then walk over the traps to enter the "M" section.

Circle eastward to the top right blue wall, which hides a chip. Take this, go through the wall, and push the top block followed by the bottom block in the second battery. Reveal the two chips to the left and push the other two blocks right to escape. From the pop-up wall, step 2DUD2LRL2R2DUDR2D2LULR5L3U2RLR2L3D3R2U, which collects all the chips, opens a toggle wall for a tank to escape from, clones a block which destroys a bomb (in place of the tank) and reveals a tank button. Hit this twice, move left to the trap button, and release it. Make sure to dodge upwards because the tank is now coming; after taking this precaution, slip past the tank, which will hold a trap open for you, and exit the level to the east. You score 404.

Swim down to the bottom of the pool and enter the dirt. Go right to the tanks. Run through and get the chips. Wait for them to change again, then pass through. Pick up the red key at the left and run right. Exit the land and swim up. Pass the toggle door and go to the beehive at the left. Get the three chips below, but leave the others. Turn left to the chips, and then right for more. Return to the beehive and get the remaining chips to the left. Then run up to the sockets. Get the two keys and exit to the pool. Swim right to the blue door and open the toggle walls. Re-enter the center; this time pass the yellow door and balls to the exit. You see an image of 446 seconds in the mirror.
Swim down to the bottom of the pool and enter the dirt, then dig east to the tanks. (You have a choice of a corner in the tank's path or one that isn't; take the latter, you'll have to wait less for the tank when it reverses on the way out.) Run through the tanks and get the chips, then sneak through after they change. Pick up the red key at the left, then circle all the way to the opposite corner of the level, between the blue door and a toggle door. Pass the pop-up wall into the beehive; take the first three chips, then step into the lower section. Hug the west wall to the left side to collect four chips at the bottom, then take the east path through the red door to take two more chips. Return to the beehive and get the remaining chips to the left, then run up to the sockets to take the two keys.

With this accomplished, escape back to the water, swim right to the blue door, and open the toggle walls. Re-enter the center through the open toggle wall and run to the bottom, but this time pass the yellow door and balls to the exit. You see an image of 446 seconds in the mirror.

The boosting is difficult, so keep your shirt on and go U2RDR3U2RDL2U2LU2L to the upper room. Step 6ULR2D3RLU4DUR4LR3D. Prepare for boosting. Continue 3LUL2U2RURURL2U2LDL2UD5R2DL2D2LDLDL3UL4D and return to the teleport. Step through it and continue RUR4U2RL4URL2D2LU2RL3DL2DRLDLD2L. You arrive in another room. Press on: LU2D4LRD3URL2D2RD2RUR2L2U3R. You arrive back in the start room. Step RD3R and you arrive in a new room. Move in a clockwise circle around the room to get the remaining chips. Go back to the teleport and go LR through it. You arrive in the second (other) room you visited. Go to the top and swim to the exit. 447 is pretty good with spies watching you!
The boosting is difficult, so keep your shirt on and go U2RDR3U2RDL2U2LU2L, which moves you to the upper room; continue 6ULR2D3RLU4DUR4LR3D (get ready!) 3LUL2U2RURURL2U2LDL2UD5R2DL2D2LDLDL3UL4D. This section is now gleaned; return to the teleport, which brings you to the exit room, and continue RUR4U2RL4URL2D2LU2RL3DL2DRLDLD2L. You arrive in the last main room; resume LU2D4LRD3URL2D2RD2RUR2L2U3R. You arrive back in the start room. Step RD3R, which opens the doorway to a room of chips. Move in a clockwise circle around the room to get the remaining chips, and then take the flippers from the chip socket. Go back to the teleport and go LR through it, which brings you back to the exit room. Walk and swim to the exit. 447 is pretty good with spies watching you!

==Level 37: The Mystery of the Seven Chips==
==Level 37: The Mystery of the Seven Chips==
Wait to pass each of the tanks. Take the upper path and push the block L. Wait for the glider to hit it, then push it again. Run! Take the down, then the left fork. Get to safety on the gravel. Get the first chip and go up through each of the first 4 ports. Then go left, right, and left. You now have all the chips. Beat the gliders to the near gravel, and pass the next set of tanks. Go RDLU through the ice and run up. Pass the gravel and hit the toggle button TWICE. You must stop the paramecium from passing the toggle door and hitting the tank button again. Run past the gravel and take the other fork. A path is now open for you (from the block). Pass the first set of tanks. Go into the room with the rwo of tanks. The exit is at the left. Mystery solved! 322.
Wait for each tank, and when you're out of that, take the upper path and jam the block west two spaces. Get away from the glider as it gears up to chase you, and keep running all the way to the bottom of the level, where you can dive west onto gravel.

You are now in a telenet; take the first chip and go through each port: U, U, U, U, L, R, L, in order to get the seven chips as fast as possible. Exit this room and continue moving upwards to another set of tanks, then an ice rink. Go RDLU at each turn, then run upwards to the workings of the tank mechanism. Touch the toggle button to free the paramecium, then hit it again to ensure it can't get back to the tank button again. Now scat!

Take the eastern fork to the room with the block in it (which you couldn't pass with the block in its original state). Move through that, pass the start, and go into the room with the (stationary) row of tanks. The exit is at the left. Mystery solved! 322.

== Level 38: Mads' Rush I ==
== Level 38: Mads' Rush I ==

Very simple. Follow the ice and force floors to the boots and get the yellow key. Pass the thieves, glider, and yellow door. Circle right and pass the sliding ball to get the green key. Return and pass the green door. Hurry, now! Run down and left to the exit. The rash rush has paid off: 11 seconds!
This is a lot simpler than the second one, and probably one of the easiest levels in the set. Then again, there's only 30 seconds, so it doesn't score much either.

Follow the ice and force floors to the boots (wait for ''all four'' gliders to bounce off them before proceeding) and get the yellow key using the fire boots. Pass the thieves, glider, and yellow door, and continue to hold east. This takes you to a sliding ball; hang right and you should be fine. Take the green key, return to the squabbling paramecia, and wait for the ones on the left to pass upwards before dashing through the green door. You have only 15 seconds now, and you can hear the ticking...

But the exit is in the south-west corner. Pfft. The rash rush has paid off: 11 seconds!

== Level 39: Yike-O-Matic ==

Revision as of 02:41, 6 October 2008

This is a continuation of the walkthrough for Chip's Challenge Level Pack 2. Levels 21 (Block Away!) through 40 (Traps II) will be discussed on this page.

Level 21: Block Away!

Collect the chips from the top, then bottom, until you reach the bottom of the fifth row, after which you push the block on the left onto the toggle button before collecting the last row of chips. This sets in motion a series of block clones that are done automatically by balls rather than touching each button manually, and costs absolutely no time in waiting for bouncing blocks. Collect the last six chips without pausing - you don't need to - and then move to the north-east corner, where you will open the chip socket and enter the teleport from the left. Step: RL2R (red key) 2LRLD3RU (red key) 2LR (pause, then R to get red key). Ignore the yellow key; you can get one later.

Exit the telenet by going left through this teleport, then go to the bottom right. Get the blue, yellow, green, blue and yellow keys, in that order (to minimize wait to only one move before collecting the latter). Run to the left and enter the *bottom* chip socket, then continue 6LU2LD into the exit. All the other doors and sockets are booby-trapped and foil your 264 seconds.

Level 22: How Goes?

This level consists of only simple moves at the beginning, followed by one monster blue-wall maze.

Run upwards to the green key, and use this key to take the chips on the left and the right. Continue downwards, unlock the first green door, and follow this route to the exit: 3D4L2D5R2D5L2D3L3U2L2U3LDL2DL3D5RD12RUR3UR4U2RDR2DR2D2L3D5R7U4R23U15LU5LD5LU4L2DL, which should yield 27 if used with as much as one mistake.

Level 23: Traps I

Circle past the row of four blocks, then run upwards and move the second block 2R8U (the central row of trap buttons). Follow this by pushing it into the SE corner of the buttons, then return to the middle chamber (now with only one block in it) and move that U2R8U. Circle back behind the two blocks standing next to you and move the bottom one against the wall, and also jam the top block into the north wall.

At this point, you can set up a one-two combo by moving the lower block 3R and the upper block into the corner, which allows you to push the lower block down on the way back. Jam the last remaining block in this area into the last space on the far right of the button field, and now attack the blocks at the very start.

With one block directly in line to push upwards, start with that one and move it upwards and 2R, then collect the block on the left side and move it as far up as possible. Resume pushing the original block up to the button field, lock it into place, and repeat this pattern with the remaining three blocks. With all the traps held open, run to the left of the chamber and glide over them to collect the level's sole chip. With that objective complete, you are free from this room. Pass the chip socket, touch the green button, and slip just past the fireballs; meanwhile, you released a caged teeth monster that releases a glider and clones a gaggle of blocks that bridge your way out of the area.

Run all the way to the north-east corner, snatch the fire boots from the paramecia, and use these boots to walk over the fire visible from the start of the level, which leads to the exit. You escaped the traps and score 254.

Level 24: Sudden Death

Step down, then up out of the teleport, and hug the bottom and side walls. (This will leave five corner chips behind; you can collect them later.) Squeeze through and ahead of the tanks, then collect the two chips on the right of the three-chip formation in front, followed by the four rightmost chips. (Adapt to avoid the blob if you need to.) Collect all the chips beyond the gravel, plus the green key, and continue to the very bottom section, where you see four block clone machines between force floors. Step opposite the force floors at the top and use the ice to boost your way back up.

When both rows and the fire boots are in your possession, return upwards past the blob, collecting all the chips there, and take all the chips among the tanks as well. (When you're passing the three tanks, turn upwards in the line of the second tank; they're about to change!) Teleport back to the start of the level and take the other way to collect a chip behind the fire.

Walk all the way back to the key-door section above the two tanks, and barter and plunder. At this point, you have everything you need; go back to the blob section and turn east to first collect the remaining eight chips, then to open the blue door, the chip socket, and land in the exit. Suddenly, you've earned 305 seconds...

Level 25: Race for the Chips

[Odd-step helpful, but not required. Just wait one extra move if in even-step.]

Step three steps upwards, then run all the way to the left and raid the ladder up from where you landed. The teeth are almost here when you're finished, so step one step further outwards (three instead of two) and run down to leave the teeth winded. Go back down the ladder and finish it, then begin collecting the chips on the bottom. On the second chip, wait one move before emerging; when you have chips 24 and 25 (with 27 and 26 remaining), wait 2 moves instead.

Take the first two chips, and before emerging from the second niche, wait for the teeth to reach the end and emerge just as it has backed itself in. Resume climbing the ladder, and wait two moves before emerging after collecting every chip, up until where you have 18 left. By then, you have a big enough lead that you can outrun Mr. Teeth all the way to the top. Collect the first two chips, wait one move before coming out, and you are now free to run all the way across without impediment. You win the race! With this guide, it should take only 81 seconds, leaving a score of 269.

Level 26: Work Fast

Get the flippers and fire boots, swim right, and take the first chip that you find, then follow it with DR3D to pick up the bottom chip. Finish circling, making sure to stop for the top chip, then return to the pool and swim south. Push the left block to avoid a fiery death under the right block, then move the blocks into the water to create a bridge to the ice strip. (The gliders won't be a danger, but they will slow you down slightly.) Follow the ice to the exit. That was fast, right? 128 seconds.

Level 27: Frozen Floors

You need to work even faster than the last one, if that's possible. :)

Something that will help on this level is that there is a consistent pattern to collecting the chips to the left. Start by stepping left, and AFAP (as fast as possible) press LDRD. (This is a pattern you'll need to get used to.) Take the first three chips in this way, leaving the fourth alone for now, and continue down to where a fifth one resides. Turn east from there, collect this chip, and then resume the LDRD pattern to take the last two chips and move out into the ice arena.

Step down off the third east force floor and allow yourself to be carried to chip number seven, then turn the opposite direction and prepare for the most difficult maneuver in this level: U2RU, which uses the rule of force-floor sides (stepping off the side or against a force floor is faster than going with one) to minimize the time taken in heading up.

Take the chip you run into, then turn back to the regular path. This time, however, hold the down key to override the next two force floors. You soon find another chip, and along the path is one final chip. Continue following the path and hold down to be delivered to the chip socket, then step left, which will deliver you to the exit in turn for 276 cold seconds.

Level 28: Madness I

Run upwards and collect the first two chips in the NW corner of the level's ice fringe, and transport yourself across the level to the NE corner. Open the corner dirt to allow the paramecium to run free, away from where you are working, and collect the closest chip on the left side. Walk further downwards to collect a second chip, then east to take a third one, and finally move to the very bottom of the dirt mound to collect the fourth chip. With this section complete, jog straight down to another chip among the bees (they should pose no delay), then veer east to collect the last two pairs of chips in the level's corners. You are now on the west side of the level, with another beehive chip visible.

Move directly under this chip, then collect it, walk straight up, and take another chip. It looks like you'll have to wait for this bee, but you don't if you walk 3R and run upwards.

What the clone buttons in the corners did was hold down traps that allow these four blocks to be moved safely. With all the chips, bust through the chip sockets and use the two western blocks to blow up the bombs. Move the lower block UR, while you push the final block upwards and through the teleport, which causes the teleport to not function to the west due to the two-square blockage. With this complete, you can simply slide over the teleport to exit the level. Madness! 266!

Level 29: Fire and Water

Take the lower two chips on the bottom row of the fire, then move to the SE corner to collect the fire boots. With the boots in your armory, you can take the last seven a lot faster, but leaving an eighth chip doesn't make things any faster. (Theoretically, you could leave all nine alone, but since you can take the corner chip on the way to the fire boots, this saves no time either.)

Insert the block next to the start into the fireball stream and run it all the way upwards to the clone button to completely stop the fireballs from cloning. With nothing blocking the path around the level, you may run clockwise and collect the remaining chips, then sneak past the water to enter the center of the level and exit. (The buttons don't control the machines next to them, so you can walk directly over the button, which will start the cloning sequence again, but not soon enough to stop you from getting inside first.)

The neutralization reaction produces 169 seconds.

Level 30: Chase Race

Step up to teleport to a ring with a bug circling, then walk around the ring to collect fire boots and flippers. With the bug chasing you, wade into the water and sneak past the balls to collect two chips at the left. A long walk is ahead..Eventually, you come to a bug circle with four keys in it; collect all four keys and beat the tank through the ice.

At this point, you're approaching another ring with a paramecium in it; squeeze past him and run all the way to the left.

You are now safe from the teeth, as they cannot pass this water space. With a south force floor on the top path, take the lower path, which leads to both suction shoes and the third and last chip. Take the opposite path and sprint away from the bug, all the way up to a teleport. Step into it, which will lead to a spy, but then to ice skates. Use the ice skates to escape from this prison, return to the bug circle, and continue with the ice and tank maze.

Oops....the tank is in your way. What now? Try something different. Go through the ice corner and hold left. Ta-da! You just completed the level (!) First place prize: 246 seconds.

Level 31: Well of Wishes

Follow the blocks, but take a detour next to the glider room to make a dirt square. Continue from there to the flippers, then swim upwards to the teleport. Get the top chip only, then swim down to and through the circle of gliders. Take the chip past these gliders, then return to the teleport as you take the loose chip.

Turn left this time to get the chips at the start, then wade into the water space below. Move 3D4RU2R to take a "shortcut" back to the thief, and you can now continue down the southern path.

The first two blocks are forced; run left, down, and finally left again, in order to touch the tank button, which will cause the tank to drown. Backtrack to the original fork and use the eastern path; take the chip on top before you bridge downwards. Take a diversion through this thief to collect the flippers and use them to uncover the chip under the upper right block. (Push the first block right one space, and continue to zigzag RU.)

Resume building downwards as far as possible to start a path to the exit area, then circle back to the tank button and continue moving east through the water. You find that a loose block is on the right, so jam this block east. Build left to the lower left area, then push two of the blocks into the water spaces and follow with the third. Use this block on the top to blaze a trail to the toggle button, which allows you to enter the exit area. Return to the right side, getting any other chips left behind, and push the loose block into the water. Pass the toggle wall and finish: 2R4URLD2R2D2RDU2L3U2RUDL2UL2RU exit. You got your wish of 365 seconds.

Level 32: Tele-Portion

Get all of the chips in the first room except the one above the teleport and the three on the lower row, then return to the block cloner and clone two blocks, pushing both into the teleport. With the second block having slid over the port, push it through the other side. Go LRLRL through the ports, getting all the chips.

Clone another block, push it through, cross to the east side and pick up the stray chip, then move LRLRL to prepare the blocks. Clone again and push through to a new area, and take these chips, then continue LRL and circle around to the other side. Port LRL to more chips, exit R, and teleport up. You will get the last two chips at the end of the trail, so you can simply turn backwards and you can now bust through the chip socket and exit. A block sure DOES seem to be useful. 377 seconds came out of it!

Level 33: The Big Button Quest

Take the upper path on the left side to a square, and do the same at this square to touch base at a path leading to a green button. Go touch the button, wait two moves before stepping right to bounce onto it again, then wait two moves again. Beat the balls to the left and run past the (stuck) tanks to an ice strip. Step off this (long) ice strip and run all the way right to get the chip and yellow key. Use this key and take the left path to teleport to a red key. (The ball on the right side will work the trap for you.) Circle to the other side of the teleport, which will send you through the red door and into the exit. 76 seconds found.

Level 34: Cypher II

Level 35: Mirror

Level 36: Spy

Level 37: The Mystery of the Seven Chips

Level 38: Mads' Rush I

This is a lot simpler than the second one, and probably one of the easiest levels in the set. Then again, there's only 30 seconds, so it doesn't score much either.

Follow the ice and force floors to the boots (wait for all four gliders to bounce off them before proceeding) and get the yellow key using the fire boots.

Level 39: Yike-O-Matic

Go L3U2L2UR and up to the chip. Go right and get the last five chips. Go through the thief and pass by the "exit". Get the chip to the left and go down to the balls. Wait for the balls to bounce, then run all the way down. Go left and onto the ice. Step URLRUDL and pick up the block. Bring it back with you. Push it down to just above the button and then left. Then, take it 2RD, left to the wall, and U. Run to the right and pick up the last chip. Go into the toggle walls and creep towards the exit. When you get there, you score 231.

Level 40: Traps II

Push the block right and move 2L. Get the top block from the "pyramid" and move it right and up. Place it on the lowest button and go back to the pyramid. Push the east block on the right ledge 3R, and the block on the lowest step to the right 2U. Move the top block 5R and push the next block to the right over one. Take the first block up and put it next to the other one. Go back to the lower right corner and push that block down to the lower button. Push the other block in line with the block at the start and push it 3R. Go back to the pyramid and push the top block 2R. Move the last two blocks up to the two buttons. Take the other block and move it to the right. Carry the top block to the last button on the top, and the other block down to the other button in that corner. Push the block from the start onto its button. Pass the traps to get the chip. Open the socket and move ULU. Wait for the fireball, and then go to the exit behind it. 249 seconds are yours.
