Swords

Sword Description Projectile

Beam Sword
This is the sword that appears before Yuko on her way to school, and thus the sword you begin the game with. Although powerful in its own right, it is the weakest sword that Yuko will wield. It fires a single projectile straight ahead, enough to damage enemies that are hovering enemies in front of Yuko, but not those crawling on the ground.

High Beam Sword
Shortly after you enter the ruins of the dream world, you may find a house with a man inside who recognizes your need for a greater weapon. He will swap your old sword for his improved sword. It fires two projectiles in parallel at a slightly longer distance, boosting Yuko's ability to fight at a distance.

Wide Beam Sword
This sword can be obtained in the jungle. It has a considerably wide range of attack, sending three projectiles out in an expanding fashion. However, because the projectiles fan out, it can be difficult to use against enemies who are directly in front of Yuko. Use it carefully.

Laser Sword
A blacksmith in the ice world can convert the wide beam sword in to the laser sword, concentrating it's three projectiles into one focused wave. It's offensive power is pretty considerable, capable of defeating most minor enemies in one hit. But it is still not the strongest sword in the game.

Valis Sword
The Valis Sword is the only sword that has the ability to defeat Rogles. It is found in the ice world, although it is necessary to defeat a boss in the underground first to obtain it. Despite the difficulty in collecting it, it's worth the effort for the increased power.

Inventory

Hammer Jar
The Hammer is an item that you obtain in the ruins which, oddly enough, enables you to talk to the stone faces. The faces are able to tell you your current distance from the boss. Furthermore, it is required in order to witness an event in the ruins where you must talk with one of the stones.
The Jar is an item in which you can contain the healing waters of a waterfall, and then use to restore your health. They are indispensable in the later half of the game. You can find them in various locations throughout the game, and you can carry up to five of them.
Valis Boots Power Boots
Normally, Yuko can jump the height of three blocks. With these boots, she can increase her leap to the height of five blocks. These boots are found in the jungle, and they are required to clear certain sections of the game.
The Power Boots will substantially increase the speed at which Yuko runs. This can be especially helpful in wide open areas that you must run through. It is found in the ice world. Be careful when using these not to run into enemies or fall into holes unintentionally.
Boomerang Bomb
When utilizing the boomerang, the projectiles thrown by the sword will loop around and come back to Yuko for approximately ten seconds. As the swords strength grows, the usefulness of this item increases, even late into the game, unlike bombs. It is required in order to collect the Jar in the ruins. You can hold up to three of them.
When activating the bomb, Yuko will lob grenades in a parabolic arc for approximately five seconds. This is incredibly useful against bosses when you sword power is considerably weak. However, it is not so useful against fast or small enemies since its attack range is narrow. You need it to collect the bubble in the underground world. You can hold up to three of them.
Map Valis Quake
The map is an indispensable item throughout this game. In order to navigate the non-linear pathways that are present throughout the game, it is essential that you collect the map for each area as quickly as possible to avoid running in circles and getting lost. Later stages are sometimes composed of more than one area.
This item will completely release the power of the Valis Sword an annihilate every small enemy on the screen. It will also momentarily freeze strong enemies and bosses. However, it can only be obtained in the later half of the game, and it is quite difficult to collect. You are only allowed to hold one at a time.

Key items

Cape Shield
This magical cape is the Mantle of Sunshade. It prevents Yuko from taking physical damage simply due to exposure to the desert to the east of the ruins. It's possible to collect it from the west side of the maze zone in the ruins.
A very valuable item that decreases the damage Yuko receives from enemies in half. You obtain it from the jungle. Without this item, the game is quite difficult to complete.
Float Spikes
These special shoes are provided to Yuko by someone in the ruins. They enable Yuko to walk on top of swampy marsh areas without getting bogged down by the water.
These shoes will enable Yuko to walk along icy surfaces without sliding. They make getting through the ice world much easier. They can be obtained in the jungle.
Lamp Bubble
A lamp will naturally lighten a dark place. This item is needed in order to see around in the underground world. You can collect it from the ice world.
The bubble is a required item that allows you to walk around the underwater section of the underground world. You can obtain it with the help of a bomb from the higher portion of the underground world.
Flower Herb
The flower itself does not serve any purpose to Yuko, but she is completes the task asked of her by the person who gives it to her, it will help her in the end.
The herb will immediately restore all of your energy. However, it will not appear unless you are actually down to three points of life remaining or less. Therefore, unless you happen to be nearby when this occurs, it is not worth seeking out.
Jewelry Barrier
These are the five broken jewels which contain the remaining essence of the power of Valis. Rogles broke them and now Yuko must fight to reclaim all five of them in order to rescue Queen Valia.
This item will grant Yuko with ten seconds of invulnerability. It can be obtained from the locations where a maps is collected once that map is obtained.
Drink Cat
A drink will restore Yuko's health by two points. They are obtained in various places throughout the game. Try to remember their locations.
Finding a cat will completely restore Yuko's health. Sometimes when Yuko enters the location where a cat should be, she may not find it. But by simply entering and exiting these predetermined locations, she will eventually find it and have her health restored.
