Yuko Asou[edit]

Yuko Asou is an otherwise ordinary high school student who was walking to school when she discovered a sword. The sword was in fact on of the Valis Swords who sought a savior to rescue Queen Valia in the dream world, which was invaded by Rogles. When Yuko grabbed the sword, her city was suddenly descended upon by demons sent by Rogles to reclaim the sword. Almost instinctively, Yuko jumps into action to defeat the demons in the city. When she clears the area, she finds herself at a fountain where she hears a voice. Before the voice is done talking, she finds herself transported across dimensions and standing in the dream world, her school-girl uniform replaced with mystical armor.

Yuko is a competent warrior, capable of swinging the light blade with destructive force. The original sword is capable of firing projectiles that are just as dangerous to the demons as the blade itself. Subsequent swords found by Yuko increase the power of these projectiles, either in quantity or quality. In addition to attacking, Yuko can jump to reach higher platforms, or avoid ground based enemies. Yuko herself can only sustain so much damage before she is defeated. A health bar shown at the top of the screen indicates how much damage she has taken, and how much health she has remaining. If the meter is depleted, she will die. Yuko only has one life, but you can continue any time, starting over from the entrance to the current stage with any key items she has managed to collect, but no other inventory.
