Knuckles' Chaotix offers a wide variety of items, both new and old classics from the Sonic series. They can be acquired through either the Bonus Stage, or from Item monitors scattered throughout levels.

Monitor Items[edit]

  • Partner Change
This item changes who the partner is. It scrolls through the possibilities in a timed, set manner, and changes the partner for a set period of time. These can be used to great effect to get past certain areas of stages.
  • Swap Partners
This switches the Player Character and the Partner Character. It allows for the player to use the partner's special abilities for a short time.
  • Shield
Gives the player a shield. If the partner hits the box, they will receive the shield instead. Both characters can have a shield at once.
  • Grow
Causes the character that hits the box to grow to a huge size.
  • Shrink
Causes the character that hits the box to shrink to a tiny size.
  • Combi-Ring
When this item is collected, it remains with the player until hit. Then, instead of all the rings flying across the map, one giant ring comes out, and when retrieved, all rings are returned.
  • Super Ring
Awards 10 rings.
  • Invincibility
Grants immunity for both characters for a short time.
  • Speed Shoes
Give the player high speed, increasing the tempo of the music and movement speed. Only lasts for a short time.

Bonus Stage Items[edit]

These items appear during the Bonus Stage. Some help while others hinder the player's progress. All boxes are roughly the same size, but increase or decrease with distance.

  • Super Ring
Grants ten rings. Helpful in negating the ring-eating effects of the Bonus Stage.
  • Ring
An ordinary ring found in the Bonus Stage.
  • Slow Level Select
This item slows the level selector's spinning down, making it easy to select the desired level instead of one at random.
  • Slow Combi-Catcher
Slows the Combi-Catcher's claw down, so that the player has full control over it. Allows for the player to choose which partner they want, instead of at random.
  • Red Spring box
A Red spring on a floating box. Bounces the player very far back. It disintegrates a little after each hit, meaning one box can only be used three times before it disappears completely.
  • Yellow Spring box
A Yellow spring on a floating box. Bounces the player far back. It disintegrates a little after each hit, meaning one box can only be used three times before it disappears completely. This box has one hit used.
  • 500 Points
a box from the Bonus Stage. Awards 500 points when destroyed.
  • Red and Yellow Obstacle
Red and yellow blocks that make up obstacles. Often surround the item boxes. Permanent, and can't be destroyed.
  • Exit
Kicks the player out of the Bonus Stage. Good to use when a lot of items and rings have been acquired, to prevent losing them.
  • Down
Knocks the player back and down. Destroyed on impact.
  • Up
Knocks the player back and Up. Destroyed on impact.
  • Trap
A trap box in the Bonus Stage. If the player hits it, it eats a large number of rings out of the total. The most dangerous obstacle in the Bonus Stage.
  • Brick
A gray brick. It is solid, and knocks the player back when they run into it.
  • Blue Block
A Blue block, that is already crumbling. It knocks the player back when they run into it, and is subsequently destroyed.
