7.The Great Cave Offensive
Kirby finds himself in a deep cave full of peril… and treasure.
Now, If you want to find all the treasures, You can check out my alternate Great Cave Offensive Treasure Guide. For now, I’m going to tell you how to get out of this mode and on to the Revenge of Meta Knight.
Part 1: Sub Tree Area
Kirby will appear at the entrance to a shaft. Go right and go throught the door. Kill the Knuckle Joe and advance to the right, dodging enemies in your wake. Enter the door at the end. Dodge the Birdons and head down into the water shaft. At the end of the shaft, enter the door. Go right, and avoid the lava. Go up and avoid the Bronto Burts. Enter the door that looks like the level end door in Dyna Blade for a save point, which by the way also restores your health fully. Exit and continue right. Alog the way you’ll see some rocks above some water. Break those with an ability for a life. Continue right. You’ll come to a room with a boss fight. It’s the boss we’ve fought the most so far, Bonkers.
Boss: Bonkers
Bonkers looks like a pink chipmunk kind of thing with a big hammer. In this specific battle, there’s a breakable floor and a pit. Destroy the floor and simply let Bonkers fall into it to end him quickly. His attacks include the usual mindless mini boss jumping, and attacking you with his hammer. Occaisonally, he’ll throw those annoying explosive nut things at you. Avoid those. I recommend Melee attacks, because Bonkers likes to stay still and plan out his attacks.
After you’ve put an end to Bonkers, continue right. Climb both ladders and go right until you reach another ladder, descend about halfway and continue right. Ascend the ladder and turn left. Ascend the next ladder and turn right. You’ll appear in a long corridor with a few pits in it. Continue right, and watch out for the T.A.C.s that patrol the area. Enter the door and you’ll appear in a room with several Copy Esscenses. Continue right. You’ll appear on a dock of some sort. Continue right and whats this? Boss Music?
Boss: Fatty Whale
A bigass Blue whale with a pipe in his mouth and a lucky red Handkerchief. His main attacks are somewhat centered on moving back and forth on the platforms in different ways, once as a saw, once as a spinning jump sort of thing, and sometimes face towards the wall, using his blowhole to drop debris. He’ll also jump back and forth from side to side. Sometimes he’ll jump from the background at the dock, creating a gigantic Tidal wave and sending a bunch of rock debris dwon from the ceiling. Range attacks work better on him mainly because he’s always on the move.
After you’ve terminated Fatty Whale, continue on to Crystal.
Intro to mine cart tracks:
You’ll end up on a minecart course. Simply jump on the mine cart, and you’ll be invincible, killing all the enemies that get in your way.
Part 2: Crystal
Go to the right and drop down, and enter the door. You’ll end up in a room with 4 exits, 3 leading to different paths to treasures, and one leading to another save point. Enter the one on the bottom right. Go up to the right, and climb the ladder. Go across the boardwalk and jump up. Duck through the platform and descend the ladder. Head to the right and ascend to a second boardwalk. Keep going right, staying as close to the top as possible. You should end up at a door inside a hill. Enter for another Copy Esscense hall. Continue on ti the next room. What’s this? A sort of 8-bit remix of the battle music? This can mean only one thing… Boss Battle!
Boss: Computer Virus
3 mini-bosses done in time turn battle style gameplay.
Boss 1: Slime
A very wimpy boss. It just sits there waiting to let you kill it. It will either try to run (and fail), get distracted, or shoot a star at you.
Boss2:Puppet
Mostly stalls, will sometimes try to hit you with a star. Even wimper than the slime.
Boss 3:Magician
Can cast both fire spells (Which hurt you) and an ice spell (Which freezes you). He also does the traditional star attack we all know and love. He’ll also cast a guard spell from time to time, making it hard to casue much damage on him for one turn. Shouldn’t be any thing you can’t handle.
Since the bosses can’t move while you attack them, both Melee and Range attacks should kill them easily.
Once you’ve finished off the computer virus, head right to the old tower.
Part3: Old Tower.
We’ll only stay here for a few seconds, because this part can be easily skipped. The old tower is mainly a treasure spot, so it can be skipped by heading right from the enterance while outside the tower. If you want to save, head right from the entrance.
Part 4: Garden
Head left from the entrance. Enter the door and descend. Enter the door and you’ll face another multi exit room. You’ll land in front of another save point. Head in the bottom middle one for the path out of this cave. Head right, and enter the door at the bottom right. Enter and descend, being careful not to land on the springs. Enter the door next to the Noddy, and you’ll end up in another hallway with copy esscences. Enter and what’s this? Dyna Blade’s music?
Boss: Wham Bam Rock.
A freakin’ annoying boss. She’ll attack in many different ways using one of her hands. She’ll try pounding, slamming, she’ll also try the Master Hand attack where she’ll grab you and squeeze you. Whenever she comes out pointing at the wall opposite of her, that means she’s going to drop rocks. She’ll also drop the little rocks that make up her hands. Since she’s always moving her hands, you’ll want to use Range attacks. It will take forever to kill it. Trying melee attacks will result in some pwnage, so don’t try that.
Exit and head to the mine cart shaft.
After you exit the shaft, you’ll come upon some elevators. To operate the elevators, simply press up on the pad to go up. After ascending 2 elevators, enter the door to come across a familiar room. Puff up next to the bomb block and spit out the air to blow open the section above. You’ll end up in the exact room you started in. This time, you’ll move to the left and grab the Warp Star at the end. Congratulations on beating another mode!

Dyna Blade

Stage 1: Peanut Plains

Move Kirby down by ducking on all the platforms. Suck up the Sir Kibble for a cutter. Enter the door, and continue on to the right. At the end of that area, enter the door, and you’ll enter an upwards passage. Suck up the Waddle doo for the beam ability. Go next to the block wall and use the beam for an easy life. Continue left and avoid the Gordo. Go up and use your beam yet again and grab the food to replenish your health. Continue up and watch for enemies. Enter the door at the very top. There are two paths you can take in this room. The lower one starts at a bomb block and winds down and ends up by some food. The top one is short and ends at the same place that the lower on ends. Climb the ladder and continue right. Suck up the Bomber to make this next fight simple. Fall in the hole and go right. Uh-oh, ambush!

Boss: Chef Kawasaki

An orange guy with an apron and a chef’s hat. An easy enough boss. Usually tries to either jump on you, or throw plates at you. Occaisonally, he’ll grab you with a pan and try to cook you. When you see a pan in his hand, float to the top of the screen. If you got the Crash ability like I told you, use it now. Since he rarely moves, both Range and Melee attacks are good on him.

After you’ve given the chef a pummeling he won’t soon forget, suck him up for the one and only Cook ability, which has only appeared in the original Super Star, and the Amazing mirror. Continue right and you’ll see some enemies on a ledge. Use your ability, and they’ll be made into foods. Leave the level and continue to Mallow Castle.

About the end game: When the bar is entirely red, press A to launch Kirby. If you go far, you’ll be awarded with some lives.

Stage 2: Mallow Castle

Continue right and enter the castle.Whatever you do, do not enter the first door in the hallway, it leads to an ambush spearheaded by some Meta Knights! (The little guys you fight in groups on board the Halberd) At the end of the downstairs hallway, you’ll see a bomb block. Destroy that and you’ll have access to a room with a life in it. Press down when you’re on the thin platforms and you’ll fall into some water. Simply let the current carry you to the life. Exit and go up the ladder. Eat the Simirror and use the power to gain access to another secret room. Press the big red button, and you’ll gain access to secret level 1!

Exit and go left. Ascend the ladder and enter the door. You’ll arrive in a fast moving screen room (I call auto screen rooms moving screens). Continue right and stay ahead of the moving screen. At the end, you’ll come across a Warp star. Grab it and exit that room! You’ll end up, mysteriously on the other side of the wall. Go on to the right, and enter the door. You’ll be outside the castle. Eat the wheelie and you’ll be granted the Wheel power. Use the wheel power to go on through the rest of the level. Along the wa, you’ll see a bomb block leading to a Maximum Tomato and a life. Near the end of the corridor, you’ll fight another boss.

Boss: Bonkers

Bonkers looks like a pink chipmunk kind of thing with a big hammer. His attacks include the usual mindless mini boss jumping, and attacking you with his hammer. Occaisonally, he’ll throw those annoying explosive nut things at you. Avoid those. I recommend Melee attacks, because Bonkers likes to stay still and plan out his attacks.

After you kill Bonkers, eat him for the Hammer ability. Go on through the door and you’ll see a couple of food items. At the bottom, you’ll also see a tree stump. Slap it with your hammer, and the Castle will blow up, and you’ll be awarded with three lives.

Stage 3: Cocoa Cave

Before you go to the next level, or the secret level, a moving boss will appear on the map. If it happens to touch you, here’s the boss strategy.

Boss: Iron Mam

Iron Mam has very basic attacks. She’ll either try to slam her round fists into you, or slam her tiny body into you. Sometimes she’ll try to grab you. Melee attacks work the best on this boss, mainly because it stays still so much.

After Iron Mam is dead, you’ll be awarded with a life.

Now for reeeal! Stage 3: Cocoa Cave

Kill the knuckle Joe and enter the cave. Go to the right, near the end you’ll see a door. In side the door, you’ll find a couple Gordos, a Maximum Tomato, and a life. After you’ve got what you came for, exit and enter the door next to it. This room is along windy passage with a few enemies between you and the door. Go right and avoid the spikes and holes. Enter the door to find a passageway down that curves left and right. Along the way, you’ll see another Bomb block. Underneath you’ll see a door. Enter it for yet another life chamber. To get this one, position yourself above the life and detonate the bomb. After you hear that life sound, puff up to the top of the room. Exit the door and go left, then down, then to the right. Near the end of the room, you’ll see some lave. Avoid that. You’ll end up in a room with 2 Chillys. Avoid them and go to the right. Head down and you’ll see a little gray platform on a track. These things move you while you do your guard move, making you temporarily invincible. Move along and grab the Warp Star. You’ll finally be outside that stupid cave. Go right and you’ll fight the boss.

Boss: Buggzy

A beetle with an attitude. When it’s jaws are facing outwards, that means he’s going to try to grab you. Avoid those. He’ll also make some babies appear in midair and try to have them attack you. He also tries to fly and land on you. Range attacks are more effective on him, since he’s always moving.

Stage 4: Candy Mountain

Candy Mountain Charlie, Candy Mountain! Go right until you see some watermelons in a dwon arrow shape. Then, take a hint and you’ll bypass a little bit of the next room. Enter the door and go on to the third room. In the third room, use a go through walls ability if you have one on the left for a shortcut up, and an invincibility lollipop. If you do not have one, continue right and head up. Destroy the bomb block to reveal a door. Eat the Burnin’ Leo and light the fuse back at the beginning of the room for a life, and 2 maximum tomatoes. Exit. In this room do not, repeat not blow up any bomb blocks unless I tell you to. If you do, some lava will appear and I guarantee that’s not going to make this an easy rest of the level. Go left as soon as you enter and go throught the door. You’ll be awarded with another big red button, and the Copy ability. Exit and climb up. You’ll find the door near a pool of water. Enter, and go right. You should see a Walky (Walking microphone). Suck him up for the Mike ability. That ability should make it easy to go through the corridor full of Scarfies. Enter the door at the top.

Boss: Mid Boss all stars

You’ll start out near a miximum tomato and a Rocky. Go right and you’ll face a Mr.Frosty.

Boss: Mr. Frosty

A walrus with a bad attitude. He mainly attacks by trying to jump on or slam into you. If you want to use an ability, I recommend Range attacks. Being next to Mr. Frosty for too long can be dangerous, considering his hyper personality. He also does this attack where he’ll put you in his mouth and shoot you into the wall at the other end of the room.

Continue on and you’ll face another Bonkers.

Go on and you’ll face 2 Poppy Bros. Seniors!

Boss: Poppy Brothers senior pair

2 big Poppy Bros. They’ll occaisionally throw bombs at you and jump about on their oversized feet. When they jump backward, that means They’re going to jump forward, so either get out of the way or duck. They’ll also slide tackle you, so jump over them when he tries that.

That should have been too easy to accomplish. After that exit the level.

Stage 5: Dyna Blade’s nest

Go right and climb up the mountain. Enter the door, and grab the Sword ability, then grab the Warp Star.

Boss: Dyna Blade

Enjoys stomping around more that Bonkers. She’ll also try to spit hot air pockets at you,, and grab you with her talons. If she grabs you, she’ll try to strangle you also. This boss is really easy, despite her size.

After Dyna has been given the beating she’s been asking for, the game will automatically move Kirby forward. What’s this! Baby birds? So that’s why Dyna was stealing the crops!

Kirby will push the babies to Whispy woods, who gladly donates his apples to feed Dyna’s young. Kirby also teaches the babies how to fly. And that my friends is the end of yet another mode.
