Left 4 Dead/Cheats
From StrategyWiki, the video game walkthrough and strategy guide wiki
In the PC version of Left 4 Dead, cheats are enabled on the server by typing sv_cheats 1 in the developer's console (accessed by pressing ` when enabled in the options menu). As this game is based on the Source engine, you can attempt to use some console commands within Half-Life 2.
You cannot earn achievements if sv_cheats is enabled.
Windows version[edit]
Console command | Effect |
---|---|
Player activity | |
god [0/1] | Enabled/Disable invulnerability. Note that you may still get pinned or constricted by hunters and smokers. |
noclip | Allows travel through walls. Bots will travel by foot, and in most cases, you have to wait for them to catch up. |
give | Gives a player an item. Common items are ammo, autoshotgun, first_aid_kit, pipe_bomb, molotov, rifle, hunting_rifle, pain_pills. |
sv_infinite_ammo [0/1] | Infinite ammo for survivor weapons. |
boom | Spawns an active pipebomb |
fire | Spawns an active molotov |
z_spawn | Spawns a character or monster at your location. |
Zombies/difficulty | |
director_stop | Stops director zombie spawning. Use director_start to re-enable. Note: Zombies can still be spawned through map triggers, even if the director is disabled. |
director_panic_forever [0-1] | Forces the director to constantly panic — thus creating endless zombie waves. |
skill [0-3] | Adjusts the difficulty of the game. |
z_common_limit | Adjusts the maximum number of "common" zombies deployed at once. Higher means larger swarms. |
z_mega_mob_size | Adjusts the swarm size of a panic event. |
director_no_human_zombies [0/1] | Prevents humans from joining as infected. |
