Wii U VC configuration: It's basically the same as the Classic Controller with the ZL button and ZR button on the backs instead of the top middle. In addition, you're allowed to configure the controls with the exception of the Neutral dpad. You can access the Virtual Console menu by touching the Wii U Gamepad screen.

The best recommendation in setting up the controls follows like this:

  • ZL button for using items (Z button)
  • ZR button for drift (R button)
  • L button for change music (L button)
  • R button for change on screen display (Right c)
  • Minus button for Virtual Console menu
  • A button and Y button for Accelerate (A button).
  • B button for Brake (B button).
  • X button for change camera (Up c)
  • Neutral lstick for control stick (Neutral control).
  • Neutral rstick stick for the C Buttons.
  • Plus button as a pause button (Start button).
