This is the standard controls for both Gamecube and Nintendo Wii.

Gamecube controls

  • Topspin shot: A button (X button has the same functions)
  • Slice shot: B button (Y button has the same funstions)

If you hit these buttons twice, it will add some power to the shot.

  • Change camera: Z button for one player only
  • Cancel charge shots: L button
  • Lunge for the ball: Hold L button, then press A button or B button (technical only)
  • Move character and direct shot: Neutral control
  • Power shots: Hold R button, then A button for offensive shot or B button for defensive shot (normal and technical only)
  • Alternative power shots: X button for offensive shot and Y button for defensive shot

Here's an advanced set of moves purely for experts who mastered the basics of the game.

  • Lob shot: A button then B button
  • Drop shot: B button then A button
  • Smash or flat shot: A button+B button

If you don't know those terms, try out these moves to see what impact it has when playing the game. It will be useful as you go through the tournament, your opponents will get tougher to get through.

Most importantly, if you see a star, press A button then A button+B button to give a very powerful shot to the opponent that makes it hard to return.
