Purity Forest is automatically unlocked after clearing Pitfall Valley and obtaining the Blue Sky Meadow Friend Area from an optional mission.
This dungeon is also one of the few level one dungeons, meaning that you start off at level 1, have no items, and have only your first four learnable moves in your roster. the only thing you keep is your form; if you head in as a Swampert, you will stay a Swampert.
Level one dungeons are extremely hard, for several reasons: One, you have no level advantage over your enemies, and way more often than not they will have level advantages over you. Two, your Belly will drain quickly, so you will only survive if you are lucky enough to find ample Belly filling items throughout your journey. Three, the dungeon is 99 floors long, leaving plenty of room for you to be KO'd by enemies or by loss of Belly. Finally, no Pokémon will join you in Purity Forest, adding to the difficulty.
Items[edit]
One very important item is found here: the rare and invaluable Tight Belt! Make sure to immediately pick one up if you can find one. If you can't find one, but you do happen across a Joy Ribbon, pick it up and equip it, because then any damage done to you, even as the result of recoil, becomes Experience, which can make a lot of difference between success and failure.

Recruiting Celebi[edit]
Yes, there is more reason to come here than to test your luck. Waiting at the end is the Legendary Pokémon Celebi. Never fear, you will not be forced to fight a strong legendary and risk dying after your arduous 99 floor trek. Celebi will ask you if it can join your team, so say yes. You will have a level 45 Legendary Celebi on your team now. Unfortunately, it has more recovery moves than fighting moves, so it's better as a team mate than a lead Pokémon. Celebi comes with its friend area when recruited, The Healing Forest.
