Age of Empires III focuses on the colonization of the Americas, and takes place in a much smaller time frame. There are five ages, ranging from the Discovery age to the Imperial Age, and there are eight different nations to choose from, all of which have attempted to colonize the Americas.
If you haven't played this series before, you will want to enter the tutorial to learn how the game works. If you have, you can either play the campaign, or choose "Try a Game" for an overview of game mechanics.
The most important item of note: The Discovery Age has no military units, and as such, you should collect enough food as quickly as possible in order to advance the technology tree.
Technical information[edit]
- On 64-bit versions of Vista, you may get an error message stating that Protection Stub has stopped working. Do not close the application; instead minimize this error notification to let the game continue as normal. For a more permanent resolution of the issue, you need to disable Data Execution Prevention within the operating system, and reboot the computer.
