Speed Racing[edit]

Time: 50 seconds
Record: 1'30"068

Once Skier #27 has appeared at the top of the slope, with four other CPU-controlled skiers (Skier #3, Skier #7, Skier #8, and Skier #11) on either side of him, the text "READY" will appear upon the start line, as the view changes to first-person (but you can change it to third-person by pressing the Decision Button, and back again by pressing it again); once it has changed to "GO", you shall have to push the inner edge up to make Skier #27 start his descent down the slope. You will then have to turn to the right, as you pass a billboard with a right-pointing arrow on it on the left side of the track - and once you have done so, you shall have to turn to the right again as you pass another billboard with a right-pointing arrow on it on the left side of the track. You will then have to pass between two more billboards with flying snowboarders on them on both sides of the track, as Skier #27 skis off the end of a ramp and through the air; once he has landed, you shall have to pass between six trees. You shall then have to turn to the left, and pass under a checkpoint - and once you have done so, your remaining time will be extended by twenty-seven seconds as the text "TIME EXTENDED" appears on the screen. You will then have to turn to the left again as you pass seven more billboards (the fifth has a left-pointing arrow on it, but the next six have left-pointing chevrons on them) on the right side of the track; once you've done it, you will have to turn to the left once again as you pass a twelfth billboard with a left-pointing arrow on it upon the right side of the track. You now have to turn to the right, as you pass three more billboards with right-pointing chevrons on them on the left side of the track - and once you have done so, you will have to pass four more billboards with right-pointing chevrons on them on the left side of the track, then pass between four more billboards for Goldwin upon both sides of the track. You will then have to turn to the left as you pass four more billboards (the twenty-fourth one has a left-pointing arrow on it, but the next three have left-pointing chevrons on them) on the left side of the track, and pass under another checkpoint; once you have done so, your remaining time will be extended by twenty-eight seconds as the text "TIME EXTENDED" appears on the screen for a second time. You will then have to turn to the right as you pass a flashing billboard with a right-pointing arrow on it and six more regular billboards with right-pointing chevrons on them on the left side of the track - and once you've done so, you shall have to turn to the left as you pass a thirty-fifth regular billboard with a left-pointing arrow on it upon that right side of the track. You now have to pass between two more regular billboards with flying snowboarders on them on both sides of the track as Skier #27 skis off the end of a second ramp and through the air for a second time; once he's landed again, you'll have to turn to the left, as you pass six more regular billboards (the thirty-eighth one has a left-pointing arrow on it, but the next five have left-pointing chevrons on them) on the right side of the track. You'll then have to pass under a railway bridge as a five-car diesel multiple-unit passes over it - and once you've done so, you will have to turn to the left as you pass four more billboards (the forty-fourth one has a left-pointing arrow on it, but the next three have left-pointing chevrons on them) on the right side of the track. You will then have to turn to the right as you pass six last flashing billboards (the forty-eighth one has a right-pointing arrow on it but the next five have right-pointing chevrons on them) on the left side of the track and pass under the finish line; once you do so, your position and total time shall be displayed on the screen as Skier #27 comes to a halt. If your total time was less than 1'34"452, the game will go into "best-time" mode so you should enter your initials on the course's table with pride (regardless of position) by using the Selection Buttons to select the letters then pressing the Decision Button to confirm them - and once you've done this, the text "GAME OVER. Look behind you before stepping off the steps" shall appear on the screen before the game goes back into attract mode.

Gate Racing[edit]

Time: 60 seconds (1:00)
Record: 1'32"257

Once Skier #27 has appeared at the top of the slope with a timekeeper (but no CPU-controlled skiers), the text "READY" will appear upon the screen, as the view changes to third-person (but you may change it to first-person with a press of the Decision Button, and back again with a second one); once the on-screen text has changed to "GO", you will have to push the inner edge up to make Skier #27 start his descent down the slope. In this mode, there are no checkpoints, but there are thirty-eight pairs of gates which must be passed through (the odd-numbered pairs are blue, while the even-numbered ones are red, and each time Skier #27 passes between one, his time shall get extended by one second as the text "EXTENDED" appears under it) - and once you have passed under the finish line the text "GOAL" will appear on the screen with your gate percentage and total time below it as Skier #27 comes to a halt. If your total time was less than 1'36"804, the game shall go into "best-time" mode so you should enter your initials on the course's table with pride (regardless of position) by using the Selection Buttons to select the letters and pressing the Decision Button to confirm them; once you have done it, the text "GAME OVER. Look behind you before stepping off the steps." will appear upon the screen before the game goes back into attract mode (but if you were unfortunate enough to not pass through even one of the gate pairs, the game will not go into "best-time" mode after finishing even if your total time was less than 1'36"804). Once you have mastered this course in both modes, you will have to move on to the Intermediate Course, which is 3.1km long, and in Speed Racing mode, you shall have 55 seconds to finish it (however, in Gate Racing mode, you shall, much like this course, have 60 seconds).
