This civilization is is part of the Alexander the Great scenario. They are located in between the cities of Athens, Delphi and Sparta. They get two city states on the Alexander the Great scenario, Corinth and Dyme. This civilization was born in 280 BC after breaking away from the Corinithian League after the Persian civilization ended after being conquered by the Macedonians under the command of the game player.

If you add a few hundred more turns to the scenario you can play out the rest of the game after Alexander gets a heir into the late 200s BC. In the 270's BC Roman civilization expands rapidly at the conclussion of the Pyratic war between Greek city states and Carthiginian empire. the Greeks lose the Pyratic war and the Romans unite the Italian Peninsula. If you're playing as the Macedonians your goal should be to defend the Achaeans from a Roman or a Carthiginian invasion. Historically the Romans conquered most of the eastern Mediterranean world by 100 BC but you would have to add over a thousand turns for the game to extend that far.

This Civilization replaces American Civilization on the Alexander the great Scenario.

Cities with Coordinates
  • Corinth: 002,042 (includes Argos, Sicyon).
    • Megara: 003,041.
  • Dyme: 000,042 (includes Pharae).
    • 001,042 Patrae, Naupaktos, Aegium and Tritaea.
    • N. Elis Ter: 000,043. Includes City of Elis, protectorate of the Achaeans.
    • S. Elis Ter: 001,044. Includes Olympia, protectorate of the Achaeans.

The Megara region starts off the game being controlled by Athens, part of the Corinthian league and formerly the Delian league in the Peloponeseian war scenario. To gain the Megara territory you must use the cheat menu to lower Athen's population to zero (0). Then tweak Corinth's population so that it controls the Megara tile on the map. Re-found Athens in order for the Acheaeans to control Megara region, which was historically ruled by the Achaeans before being conquered by the Roman civilization.

Achaeans in the Peloponnesean war scenario[edit]

The Achaeans replace the Independents, which are the original American slot in the default game. Peloponessean war is one of the original user made scenarios downloadable from apolyton.com, right after the game was made. In this scenario, the map uses medium sized Greece rather then the Middle East map from the Alexander the Great scenario but the Achaeans are present in this realm as well, none the less.

The Achaeans are neutral in this scenario, along with the Aetolian civilization to the north across the sound on the mainland of greece.

Achaean Cities in 280 BC, with coordinates[edit]

Legend
  • *: exists only in 280 bc.
  • a: heartland.
  • al: allied wth Achaea.
  • oc: ocupied from Spartan League.
Cities
  • Corinth (*/oc): 001,051.
  • Naupaktos (a): 066,048. A serious battle was fought here in 429 BC, where the Delians were victorious. If the Delians win this battle on the scenario, your goal should be to re-take it because it's part of your core heartland.
  • Aegium (a): 067,047.
  • Argos (Al): 067,059. This city is allied with the Achaeans as part of the neutral factions. It is completely en-circled by the Spartans. A major battle was fought just outside of Argos in its area of influence at a place called Mantinea in 418 BC with a Spartan victory. Your goal should be to not give Argos to the Spartans to win favor. Argos is one of your core neutral allies (the other being the Aetolians on the mainland).
  • Megara (*/oc): 004,051. This town borders the city of Athens and is constantly under attack by the Delian League. It begins the game under control by them and is named Piraeus. You could give it to the Spartans to gain favor because they occupied it historically at the time and troops were sent from here on their campaign to march on the Macedonians 429 BC to gain them as an ally. Strategy: rename Piraeus to Megara and abandon the original Megara. Found Chaeronea near it. In the extended game, a major battle was fought here in 338 BC before the Alexander the Great scenario began in 334 BC.
  • Elis (oc): 059,053. This village is on the border of Achaea and the Spartan League historically it was controlled by the Spartans you could give this territory tohe spartans to win favor.
  • Chaeronea (oc): 006,045 -3. Decisive battles were fought here in 480 BC with Persian victory over the Spartans. This war occurred a few decades before the scenario begins. The scenario takes place in 431 BC. The Spartans were victorious against neutral factions, but they lost a battle in 338 BC against the Macedonians. If you're playing as the Neutrals, your goal should be to give this territory to the Spartans to gain favor.

Strategies[edit]

If you play as the Neutrals in the Peloponesean war, your goal should be to make a military pact with the Creatan civilization because that civilization remained neutral. You must also assist the Spartans with their offensive against Macedonia. Your third objective is to resist Delian expansion.

Largest map[edit]

On the largest map which is the Omni Greece map, the Achaean civilization is even greater with an increased number of city placements. This map is centered on Greece and is around 200 by 200 tiles in size.

No Scenarios feature this giga map sized Greece so playing on it is only available in a default game because loading new maps on any scenario game will cause the game to crash. Within each scenario, you only get one map and all of the civilizations that come with it in the selected time period.

Default game: Civilizations of Omni Greece[edit]

Ancient, Classical, and Middle epochs (4000 to 1500 AD)
  • Greece: A major Power, a united Greece came into existence from 1830 AD to 1947 AD after the Turkish empire reached its largest size after Rhodes Island was gained from the Italians, which are not in the default game.
  • Rome: A major power from 130 BC to 1000 AD. The Romans make an appearance after the Pyratic War (in the 270s BC) and before the fall of Constantinople in 1453 AD.
  • Persia: Persia makes an appearance by 490 BC by starting a war with Greece.
  • Mongolia: central Asian invasions in the 400's AD (by the Huns), 600's (by the Avars), 800's AD (by the Magyars/Hungarians), and the 1200's (by the Mongolian civilization).
Contemporary (1500 to 2300 AD) from Renaissance to Diamond epochs
  • Turkey: The Seljuks came to power in 1030 AD they conquered part of Omni Greece in the 13th century, but thats 200 years later in the 1200's. Coincidentally, the Mongols made an offensive on Omni Greece. At first the Turks were a minor power but eventually became a super power after 1453 AD when it dominated the entire map. By 1930 AD, Turkey returns to being a minor power.
  • Russia: Soviet Union occupied 1945-1992. A brief existing minor power, at least land wise.
  • Germany: triple alliance (1882-1915 AD). Axis alliance (1920's to 1945) from the 1880's to the 1930's: the civilization was limited to the Italian territory, which is the heel of the Italian boot-like landmass. In the 1930's Italy conquers Albania and the Germans are defeated at the end of World War II. As a result, Omni Greece only has two civilizations: Greece and Turkey.

The number of civilizations present in the Omni Greece map is limited to Greece on default scenarios.
