Style

You can choose between Long ball, Pass to feet, Counter-attack, Continental, or Direct ball. It is best to check what style your opponent is playing and counter it.

  • Long Ball is best against Pass to Feet
  • Pass to Feet is best against Counter Attack
  • Counter Attack is best against Direct Ball
  • Direct Ball is best against Long Ball and Continental

Formation

You can either use one of the pre-defined formations or create your own formations by rearranging player positions. The match engine favours formations which use central players, not wide players. An offensive formation tends to work well. For example, a great formation is to line up your players in a 3-3-1-3 formation. 3 Central Defenders, 3 Centre Mids, a Support and Three Centre forwards. This formation will work well in any version of CM1.

Win bonus

A win bonus may be set for your players to be extra motivated for the next game. Best to use when playing tough opposition, in a cup final, or in a local derby.

Captain

When choosing a captain, choose a player with a high level of influence, preferably close to 20. This increases your team’s ability to create chances and to convert chances into goals.
