Marcello is the main antagonist of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. Like Sephiroth, he is not available from the start and must be unlocked by using coins earned after game victories to buy him from the shop at the Main Menu.

Cloud Strife is a playable character from the start of the game. First debuting in the popular Final Fantasy VII, Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy in Itadaki Street Portable was one of his final appearances in video games with the exception of Dissidia: Final Fantasy. He appears with his Advent Children attire and usual Buster Sword.
Sephiroth[edit]
Sephiroth is popular for appearing as the main antagonist in Final Fantasy VII and is the arch-nemesis of Cloud. He is not playable from the start, and has to be bought from the shop at the Main Menu. He serves as a secret character, and appears with his usual outfit ever since Final Fantasy VII, with his trademark black cloak and Masamune, though the sword isn't as long as it is in his other appearances.
Aerith Gainsborough[edit]
Aerith is a main character from Final Fantasy VII, and experienced death in the game, though she did reappear in Advent Children through Lifestream. Because of her fan-favorite status, she makes an appearance in Itadaki Street Portable, and is very well alive. She is playable from the start of the game.
