Welcome to Paradise is the first mission in the Lord Roberts Island chapter, and the first mission in the game. This mission serves as the game's tutorial.

This guide is written for Ace difficulty. Lower difficulties may have lower enemy counts, and some Bonus Objectives will be inaccessible.

Introduction[edit]

Downtown is given his first deployment orders to fly to Lord Roberts Airbase, under the command of Commander Picasso, and await further instructions.

For this mission, the player is given an F-22 Raptor V1 armed with only SRAMs.

System Checks[edit]

As you fly in, Picasso will contact you to perform in-flight system checks, effectively teaching the player basic controls.

First, Picasso will have you ascend to 1000 meters. The altitude display will now appear in the top left of your HUD; simply ascend using your control stick or Wii remote until the number in the display reaches 1000. Next, the compass will appear at the top of the screen. You will be flying south initially; turn to the right to face west as per Picasso's orders.

A cutscene will then play showing two Yak-141 Freestyle fighters pursuing a T-45 Goshawk flown by a pilot named Divot.

Destroy the Enemy Fighters[edit]

The fighters and Divot will be off in the distance approximately 6000 meters away. Accelerate until you are 1000 meters away from the first fighter, then decelerate to minimum speed in order to engage. Once you are within 1000 meters of the target, your SRAM will automatically lock onto the target. Once the target indicator turns red, the missile is locked on; press the fire button to shoot down the enemy. Repeat this process with the other fighter.

Destroy the Incoming Wing of Fighters[edit]

Four more Freestyles will attack. Approach them, lock onto the first plane, and shoot it down like you did the previous two.

Note that because the planes in this section are flying toward you, you will need to turn around to clean up enemies left over from the initial pass. Get behind each enemy fighter, lock onto them, and take them out one at a time.

Destroy the Attacking Enemy Aircraft[edit]

After the cutscene, you will be near Lord Roberts Island, which is under attack by multiple Freestyles. The allied anti-air defenses and planes will take out some of the fighters, but you will likely destroy them much more efficiently. Two more waves of Yak-141s will spawn afterward, and when all are destroyed, this objective completes.

During this section, all three of the mission's bonus objectives will become active. Look for lone green dots on the radar and approach them to trigger the bonus objectives. Bonus objectives are marked with a yellow outline over their targeting indicators.

  • Bonus Objective: Destroy the Saboteurs - The saboteurs can be found in the northeast section of the island driving toward a radio tower in a UAZ-469 jeep. Remember that SRAMs can lock onto ground targets as well; one missile will destroy the jeep.
  • Bonus Objective: Destroy the Enemy Boat - A PT Boat will appear near the south end of the island. It will take three SRAMs to sink.
  • Bonus Objective: Destroy the Unauthorized Aircraft - A light aircraft can be found to the northwest of the island high in the clouds. Shoot it down to complete the bonus objective.

Defend the Civilian Medical Transport[edit]

A C-130 Hercules transport now spawns, being attacked by four Freestyles. If the transport is shot down, the mission fails, however the enemy planes are a fair distance away, giving you time to engage, and have low firepower, so this objective is unlikely to fail unless the player is very negligent. Fly toward the enemy fighters, and shoot them down.

Note that the bonus objectives are still active at this point; if you have not completed all of them yet, then destroy three of the enemy fighters before searching for the ones you missed.

Once all of the Yak-141s are down, the mission is complete.
