Controls[edit]

  • Joystick: Use the 4-way joystick to direct Pac-Man (1P), or Pikachu (2P), around the mazes; if they fall into a hole, they'll come out of the other one.
  • 1 or 2 Player Buttons: Push these buttons to begin the game as Pac-Man (1P) or Pikachu (2P); the difference is graphical, and they play the same.

Characters[edit]

Pac-Man and Pikachu[edit]

PP Pac-Man.gif PP Pikachu.gif Namco's signature character needs no introduction, but for this unofficial sequel game, he is joined by Nintendo's signature Pokémon, Pikachu; both players must guide them through the mazes and on to victory, while avoiding contact with both the four original ghosts (the second one is still depicted as a male here), and the various other Pokémon that chase them around them (a touch from an enemy Pokémon is just as lethal to Pac-Man as a touch from a ghost is to Pikachu). As in the official Pac-Man title Pac-Mania (which used a Yamaha YM-2151 as opposed to a YM-2612), they both move at a constant speed, regardless of whether they are eating or not - and they will not receive the points for the pellets they eat until the current stage is cleared, but the one who ate the most shall gain a 10000-point bonus. They also receive an extra life at 100000 points, which can't be changed.

Ghosts and Other Pokémon[edit]

The four original ghosts from the Pac-Man series, and two other Pokémon from the Pokémon series, are the enemies of the game (although only four of them are present on any stage); Pinky is also still depicted as a male here, and a touch from an enemy Pokémon is just as lethal to Pac-Man as a touch from a ghost is to Pikachu. The two enemy Pokémon also do not resemble any official ones - so they will be referred to as "Blue" and "Green Pokémon".

Bonus items[edit]

  • PP Cherries.gif PP Strawberry.gif PP Apple.gif Fruits: Three of the fruits from the Pac-Man series shall appear in the ghost/enemy Pokémon regenerator and move around the mazes (and disappear after a while if uneaten); Cherries are worth 800 points, while Strawberries are worth 1000 and Apples are worth 2000.
  • PP 1UP.gif 1UP: This powerup will give the player who eats it an extra life (depending on how the cabinet is set you can start it with as many as eight).
  • PP Tai Chi Mark.gif Tai Chi Mark: If you see this one, avoid it like you would a ghost or enemy Pokémon; it will reset the maze to its original state when eaten.
  • PP Poison Can.gif Poison Can: Again, if you see this one, you should avoid it, as it will cause the player who eats it to lose his sense of direction ("reversed").
  • PP Power Ball.gif Power Ball: This powerup immediately kills all ghosts and enemy Pokémon in the maze, but their eyes will just go back to the regenerator.
  • PP Wings.gif Wings: This powerup will increase the speed of the player who eats it to significantly faster than that of the six enemies, for ten seconds.
