Infinite money by re-entering levels[edit]

You can quickly gain money by replaying the start of certain levels. Choose "Chapter Select" from the menu and pick your preferred chapter. Play until you've acquired the items and money that you want. Now pause the game and select "Quit." When prompted to save select "Yes."

  • Chapter 2-1 can reap you about ₦1,100 + ₦480 (₦1,580) ( from selling the H&K MP5 in just the first room.
  • Chapter 3-1 can get you two Jeweled Beetles (₦1,000 each), another jewel (₦1,000), a "Chalice (Silver)" (₦2,000), two white eggs (₦250 each), and possibly additional eggs (white, brown, or gold). However, you will have to visit the island in the center of the marsh, which requires some additional travel time.

Infinite money through duplication[edit]

The goal of this technique is to acquire a full, 45 stack set of Gold Eggs (₦45,000) or Rotten Eggs (₦90,000) that can be re-sold as often as necessary (about once every 5 minutes; about ₦100-₦300 per second).

The downside to this method is that it is time consuming (it can take about an hour to prepare, and another 1-4 hours to acquire enough money to buy what you want, or buy everything in the game) and it cannot be applied to weapons (they cannot be traded).

Duplicate trade-able items (Xbox 360) and acquire Golden Eggs easily
  1. Sign into a profile (refer to this as profile #1) and choose "Chapter Select." Begin Chapter 3-1 (it is the safest and offers treasure and eggs at the start) or your preferred chapter (2-1 is often chosen because it loads quickly because there are no cutscenes involved). Choose Chris. If profile #1 is Sheva, the game will rearrange items in the inventory, which can be confusing.
  2. After the chapter has loaded, press Start button on the second controller and sign in a different profile (refer to this as profile #2).
  3. When the preparations menu appears, have profile #1 do the following:
    1. Move any items you want duplicated to profile #2's active inventory (not the stored area). You can have up to 9 items or stacks duplicated at a time.
    2. Make sure that profile #1 has enough inventory slots to hold the number of items/stacks to be duplicated (i.e. if profile #1 wants to use a weapon, they can only duplicate up to eight things).
  4. Ready up and start the chapter.
  5. When you can open up your inventory, have profile #2 hand over all of the items to be duplicated to profile #1.
    • If you are going for eggs and have loaded 3-1, acquire the two jewels on the first island (one on the left inside the skull, and one on the pillar on the right) then hop in the boat and drive to the island in the center (go around to the left to avoid all of the barriers). Note that there is a BSAA emblem here, located underneath the hut. It can only be seen by stand on the lowest part of the dock. On the island, acquire the jewel on the left that is on the pillar by the small area by the water, then grab the Silver Chalice in the treasure chest inside the hut. Grab the two white eggs on the right side of the hut, and then chase the three chickens around for a bit. Also chase the chickens inside the pen. Give them some time, then kill them. Chickens lay eggs randomly when spooked, and sometimes when killed. The goal here is to acquire Gold Eggs and Brown Eggs, and then start to duplicate them through this process. Going back to the island in the center while duplicating will allow you to make some money off of white and brown eggs (for every 30 or so white eggs, you will probably get a few Brown or a Gold egg).
  6. Have profile #1 acquire any other items they want to save (e.g. the H&K MP5 from Chapter 2-1), then pause the game, and choose "Quit." Be careful: the game will prompt you to confirm that you want to quit. If you select "Yes," you cannot back out, so don't try and press B button afterwards. A second prompt will appear, but this time for both players. It will ask if you want to save your profile. Have profile #1 select "Yes" (A button) and profile #2 select "No" (B button).
  7. The game will return to the main menu. The trick is done, but if you want to continue the duplication cycle (for money), head back to the Chapter Selection and choose your preference (again, 2-1 has a short loading time).
  8. Repeat step number 2 (sign profile #2 in). If you happen to sign out one of the profiles, the items have already been saved so don't worry.
  9. At the inventory screen, notice that profile #1 has the items that were given to them by profile #2, and that profile #2 has the items that were in their active inventory at the last inventory screen. That's it. You have successfully duplicated something.
Possible negative outcomes

The only issue that can arise from this is if you mess up step #6. When quitting the level, if either player chooses the incorrect option, it will either set them back, or lose all of the items. If one player chooses the incorrect option, the other will still have the items (for example, if profile #2 chooses yes, then when they load their profile, they will not have any of the items that they gave profile #1; likewise, if profile #1 says no, then the items they received from profile #2 were not saved).

How it works

This "glitch" relies on the ability for players to not save their profile. If RE5 mandated that you save the items in your inventory when you quit the game, then it would not be possible.

Basically the key areas of interest are the inventory screen and quitting the game. At the inventory screen, anything in your inventory gets saved to your profile. The reason you can only duplicate 9 items at a time, and that they have to be in your active inventory, is because to use an item during gameplay, it must be in the active inventory. When you go to start the chapter, the profile's entire inventory gets saved. Thus, profile #1 saves itself as no longer having the items (having given them to profile #2), and profile #2 saves itself as having the items. During gameplay, profile #2 hands over the items and then quits. Profile #1 now has the items, and since profile #2 didn't save that it lost the items, upon re-loading it will retain the inventory that it saved before the chapter started.
