Furnaces[edit]
Wood Furnace[edit]
Burns wood, makes Charcoal or Ash
Wood -> Ash -> Lye -> Potash The last two occur at the Ashery, first at Wood Furnace.
Smelter[edit]
Makes bars from ore. You'll need a source of fuel, most likely charcoal from the wood furnace.
- hematite = iron
- malachite = copper
- galena = silver (well, it should have lots of lead I think, but that's not in)
- sphalerite = zinc
- cassiterite = tin
You can turn all of these into bars except zinc.
Also:
- tin ore + copper ore -> bronze
- zinc ore + copper ore -> brass
Bronze makes stronger weapons/armor than copper. Brass is useful as usually only to please specific people. Perhaps it can be used for instruments later or something. Silver is more valuable, and easier to obtain and use.
There's also a steel making process, using limestone, coal and iron ore to make pig iron, and then again to make steel.
