Before reading the Walkthrough for Suishou no Dragon, understand that it is a very linear game, and any solution provided on this page may spoil certain aspects of the game that you may wish to learn for yourself. In order to help you proceed through the game more independently, here is some advice on playing the game.
- There are no secret entrances or items that cannot be seen while playing the game. Every path, and every item is presented to you visibly.
- Some items come on the space craft that you obtain from Dr. Obaba. Make sure you examine your inventory once you gain a craft from her.
- Two sections of the game, space and the desert on Alias' moon, are maze-like, and it's possible to get lost while exploring. The solutions aren't complicated, but it may help to draw a map or keep a record of the movements you have made.
- If a door appears locked, try to use the items in your inventory. Even though a door may not open with a type of key, it may be opened by something else.
- When it doubt, look at various objects or people on the screen, and talk with as many people as you are able.
- Don't forget that you can only leave your home planet through the space port. You can leave any other planet by choosing the arrow pointing up and to the left when you move, provided you are capable of flying away.
- If you find yourself in a life threatening position, don't be afraid to fail. If you do, the game will back you up and few steps and let you try again.
The crashed shuttle[edit]
The game will begin right at the moment that the space shuttle is under attack by a giant crystal dragon in the middle of outer space. You black out just before the shuttle is utterly destroyed…
…and wake up to the site of a mysterious woman with piercing eyes. She introduces herself as Jean and informs you that she rescued you.
- Look at Jean
You will notice that she has eyes like crystal. She casually mentions that she's thinking of changing their color.
- Talk to Jean
When you inquire about the dragon, Jean doesn't seem to know what you're talking about and mentions that she found you alone. Then she will let you know that you have arrived home.
You find yourself in the airport. It's empty, and if you talk to the airport personnel, he will inform you that the shuttle is closed on account of the dragon.
You will find yourself on a quiet street that leads to the plaza.
In the town plaza, they broadcast the news on a large screen. If you watch the screen, you will hear news about a shuttle that vanished after encountering a dragon, and how the government of the neighboring planet Alias has denied any involvement. Talking to the crowd in front of the screen will invoke a variety of reactions.
You find yourself on another quier street which leads to the research institute.
Here you will meet Dr. Obaba. You inform her of all that you know, and she will present you with the Space Scooter UXV, which she happened to have used personally sixty years ago. She will also provide you with a Magnetic Key. She expresses great concern for your friends and tells you to get going. You must now return to the airport.
With the scooter, you will be able to blast off into space on your own. You will now be flying through the emptiness of space, so there is little to guide you. Your ambition is to find any clues as to the whereabouts of your friends. To accomplish that, you'll need to explore around.
You will be confronted by the Crystal Dragon once again. No matter what you do, even if you attempt to attack the dragon with your laser, you will sustain a critical hit, and you will have to attempt an emergency landing. You will end up touching down on Alias' desert moon. Any attempts to blast off the moon will fail due to a damaged fuse on your scooter. Your only option is to explore the desert in order to find clues or information.
You will notice something up ahead in the distance.
You will locate the reckage of Cynthia's shuttle. There's no signs of any life nearby, but it's worth exploration.
- Look at the shuttle
You will find a small fuse.
- Look at the shuttle
If you look a second time, you will notice a jewel.
- Use the fuse
It turns out that the fuse you found by the shuttle can be used to repair your scooter and allow you to fly back into space.
You will see your home planet off in the distance. You must return there now.
The mystery of Jean[edit]
You will land back in the airport. You will notice Jean at the airport counter. But as soon as you react to talk to or look at her, she will disappear. Return to the plaza.
Once you're at the plaza, turn around to face the opposite side of the screen.
You will find Mr. Gee, the old peddler with some wares for sale.
- Talk to Mr. Gee
He will tell you that he recalls a similar situation occurring sixty years ago.
- Talk to Mr. Gee
He will then tell you that he has a pistol for sale, which he just recently obtained from a pretty woman with red eyes. He will let you know that everything for sale is 25 credits. With five objects, the total would come to 125 credits, but you only have 100. But you happen to have something which he might be interested in buying.
- Place the Gem
Mr. Gee will be ecstatic about the fact that you found the Dragon tear, an item he gave up looking for sixty years ago. He will insist that you take money for it. You will now have 125 credits, enough to buy everything.
- Take Pistol
- Take Tablet
- Take Book
- Take Mirror
- Take Transmitter
After you have purchased everything, you're ready to venture off. Return to the plaza.
From the plaza you must explore the residential district.
Once again, you find yourself on an empty street which leads to the residential district.
You will notice Jean standing in front of an apartment door! Yet no matter what you do, she will just disappear again. Your attempts to open the door will fail since the door is locked. On top of that, no key you possess will fit the lock. Yet you must find out what's on the other side, so you'll have to take drastic measures.
- Use the Pistol on the door lock
That will do the trick, the lock will be disengaged.
- Open the door
The door is now open.
The room will appear empty, and there isn't much to investigate. You may notice the closet door on the right. Go ahead and open it.
- Open the closet door
- Look in the closet
To your surprise there will be a computer inside the closet.
- Operate the computer
The computer will begin beeping.
- Look at the computer
You will see a message appear: "That meddler's found out about the dragon. Take him out. I'll be waiting on Alias." At that moment, Jean will appear… or rather, someone who looks very much like Jean, but with fire red eyes. She will say, "So, you know my secret." She means business and she will not let you leave the room alive. Your only option is to defend yourself.
- Use the Pistol on Jean
Jean will fall to the ground, clutching her wounds and promptly disappear. After such a strange experience, it's time to visit Dr. Obaba again.
You tell Dr. Obaba of the recent occurrence, and she redirects your attention to something else. She will introduce you to the Tetride ST. It comes with more firepower, and makes your previous scooter obsolete. With this new craft in your possession, it's time to find that dragon again. Return to the airport and blast off again.
Exploring Alias[edit]
Once you return to space, you'll need to repeat the same process to find the dragon again.
The dragon will appear as predicted. This time, you are prepared for it. Use the Videoscope to see the dragon for what it really is.
You will see the true form of the dragon; a giant war craft using a hologram to create the illusion of a dragon. Now that you can see it's true form, you may be able to do something about it.
- Use the Blaster on the mech
The blaster works, and the mech will be obliterated. When the dust settles you will be able to see planet Alias and it's moon off in the distance. Assuming you have the transmitter, you will receive a message from Nial that says, "Help! We're trapped in a pyramid!" Head down to Alias.
You will land near the dusty ruins of a former town. From the landing site, turn around.
At this time, you may experience a vision of Cynthia running towards you from beyond the ruins. She will yell to you, "Help! We are imprisoned on a planet called Saria. Our energy—" and then the vision will be cut short. You will notice an odd ruin sticking up from the ground.
When the vision ends, you will be standing in front of an odd stone monument. If you look at it, you will simply notice some designs etched into it. To examine it closely, you must use the mirror (in essence, the mirror should have been called a magnifying glass).
- Use the Mirror on the monument
You will notice ancient glyphs written on the monument, but you are unable to translate them on your own.
- Use the Book
With the books help, you will be able to translate the glyphs: "In Alias was handed down a crystal that enabled its keeper to hear the voice of god. It was brought here when…" and the rest will be undecipherable. At this time, you may happen to notice the two missing pieces on the monument, and the fact that the tablet that you purchased from Mr. Gee resembles the missing shapes.
- Use the Tablet on the top hole
The tablet will pop perfectly into place, but it actually yield no further outcome or information. In actuality, the tablet and the monument is a bit of a "red herring" beyond the information that it provides about the crystal. Return to the landing site.
Now explore the region beyond the town.
You will notice a structure off in the distance.
You will find yourself in front of a pyramid. Could this be the pyramid that Nial was talking about? Investigate closer to find out.
Looking at the large hatch that you encounter, you will realize that your scooter can fit inside, but you seem unable to open it. Something in your possession will open the lock.
- Use the Magnetic Key
The lock will disengage.
- Open the hatch
The hatch will open.
You will find yourself in a long passage. The room to your rear contains a door that you are unable to open at the moment, so venture forward instead.
Oddly enough, you will discover a whole town inside the structure. A couple of people will be milling around. If you talk to them, they will insist that you leave because you are on sacred ground. They will even prevent you from exploring further inside, due to their concern over the crystal driving you mad. However, they cannot stop you from turning right.
This time, you will see a tall tower off in the distance. With no one to stand in your way, approach the tower.
Stepping inside the tower, you notice an abundance of technology and video monitors. With very few other options, you may as well attempt to operate it.
- Operate the panels
An alarm will start beeping. Don't let that discourage you. Try again.
- Operate the panels
Now you will hear a recording: "After all these years, Alias soon will be mine. And it's all thanks to you Jean. To show you my gratitude, I'll even restore your true form — Lucia's. Though I can't guarantee you'll survive the transformation…" No other information can be obtained, so it's time to head back to the town.
When you return to the town entrance, you'll notice the people have left (possibly scared off by the alert). Now there is no one to stand in your way while you attempt to explore further.
Here you will notice some kind of robot standing at the entrance to some structure. It's motionless, but it looks menacing. You can't tell if it's active or not, and there's only one way to find out.
It turns out that the robot is inactive. You find yourself in a chamber with a crystal floating in the middle of the room, most likely the crystal that the townspeople were warning you about. It does not seem to pose any threat to you, so…
- Take the Crystal
With the crystal in your hands, you can return to the pyramid entrance.
Having moved only a short distance from the pyramid, you will encounter Jean once again, and she is pointing a pistol at you. No attempt that you make to defend yourself will result in anything, as she will simply ask you to listen to her.
- Talk to Jean
Jean will inform you that an evil spirit named BANUGA is using her to abduct innocent people, and is terrorizing the planet. The queen is being held captive underground will all of the other people. She provides you with a Card Key that you can use to rescue them. She will insist that you take them.
- Take the Card Key
After you take them, she will disappear with the parting words, "My strength alone is not enough to save this planet…" Now you have the necessary item to open the locked door inside the pyramid, so return to the inside of the hatch.
Now head to the room behind the entrance.
Defeating BANUGA[edit]
You will find yourself in a small chamber with a locked door. Use the item that Jean gave you to open it.
- Use the Card Key on the door
And with that, the door will open for you to head on through.
An odd humanoid figure will appear to and say, "I am Lucia. I come to you like this because BANUGA took over my body. Now he's trying to take over my planet. Using my body — that is, Jean's — he is collecting even more victims. Please prevent—" and suddenly disappears. The room begins to spin until all of a sudden, you have another vision of Cynthia.
You hear her say once more that BANUGA is on Saira, only now she lets you know that Saira is the name of Alias' moon. When you regain control, you will notice that you have been teleported to the shuttle crash site on Saira. You also notice that Cynthia's pendant begins to glow, indicating that she is nearby somewhere. Your transmitter will also begin to work, and you will hear a voice saying, "Where am I? It's dark. Am I underground?" You will have the ability to travel beyond the shuttle crash site now.
You will notice a pyramid off in the distance.
Appearing extremely similar to the pyramid on Alias, you venture closer.
It is so similar, that is has an identical entrance, and fortunately for you, it has an identical opening mechanism.
- Use the Magnetic Key
The lock will disengage.
- Open the hatch
The hatch will open.
You will arrive in front of an interesting looking door, and Cynthia's pendant will glow yet again. It seems that nothing you try will open the door, so once more, you're left to try drastic measures. Try blasting it open.
- Use the Blaster on the door
That seems promising, and you are encouraged to try once more.
- Use the Blaster on the door
That does the trick; you can now pass through the door.
When you enter the chamber, you will demand that BANUGA return your friends. He challenges you, telling you to get them back for yourself if you can. Looking around the chamber, you may notice sparks flowing down into the chamber from the ceiling. It's time to examine the crystal that you obtained from Alias.
- Use the Crystal
Upon using the Crystal, you will hear Jean's voice, informing you that BANUGA feeds upon the light, which is the energy of mankind transformed. There's only one way to stop that from continuing.
- Use the Crystal on the hole in the ceiling.
You will throw the Crystal at the hole, and it will miraculously plug the gap. The structure will start to vibrate terribly, as BANUGA begins to lose power.
As the dome shatters, light will flood the area, allowing you to see all of the captive people awaiting rescue, including Nial and Cynthia. Everyone appears to be safe, and Cynthia begins to weep when she first sees you.
She informs you that an evil spirit had captured them and locked them in a dark star. It was like a long frightening dream that she thought would never end. But a crystal dragon appeared out of the darkness and saved them. She is relieved to see you, and with that, the game will end.
