The Walkthrough is Dead to Me[edit]

I believe I'm the only person who's added anything to the walkthroughs (though I haven't touched them for six months)... Just for anyone who might care, I don't plan to complete the Main Walkthrough or Dark World Walkthrough sections. A player can easily defeat anything and everything by leveling up a little. Disgaea's always placed more emphasis on level-stacking than actual strategy, so it's rather pointless to add strategies for the ridiculous amount of stages when there's no point in reading or making them. I'll still attempt to finish and improve the other sections, sooner or later... --DekuGuy 09:57, 16 July 2008 (CDT)

Someone will do it someday, but tips for leveling seems to be the best thing at the moment (also special enemies/boss strategies/info is important). Thanks for the help, --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 16:06, 17 July 2008 (CDT)
Just stumbled across this page (now I know how to find it. honestly I didn't even notice the Toolbox on the right side of the screen until just now.. -_-). Anyways, agreed with Deku, the walkthroughs for the stages is fairly pointless. There are perhaps 3 or 4 stages in the game that have "secret" strategies or tips that aren't immediately obvious (one of which I did fill in). The rest are just a matter of each player using their specific-tailored party to its best ability given terrain and opponents, etc. So I won't be putting any energy into those either unless I get really bored. ;) But there are still quite a few aspects of the game that aren't covered well by other online guides and faqs (either being partial, inaccurate, or formatted as a series of a difficult-to-read/search forum posts), and those are the gaps I've been focusing on for the most part. -- Air 14:54, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for clarifying that Air. In this case what we do is remove all of the unnecessary links from the ToC and add info to the Walkthrough page. On the Walkthrough page (this page is a StrategyWiki standard and MUST exist on every guide), please explain how the guide is laid out. For example, what you just said should be noted (how each stage is practically the same, but it just comes down to strategy), and there should definitely be links to the pages that detail strategies. Also, explaining that some stages contain special strategies is important, and explaining which pages those are (at least, which ones they are in the ToC). It looks like the content of the ToC is pretty minimal, so I'm suggesting that we move the Darkworld Walkthrough page down to a subsection of Walkthrough. This will also help simplify the description on the Walkthrough page. Let me know if I missed anything or if you have any questions or whatever. If one of you can confirm that this is a good idea, I'll modify the ToC immediately (unless you wish to do it yourself). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 23:36, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
I don't have any objections. I never completed many of the Dark World stages (just unlocked them, then went back to power-leveling), but if any stages in this game need guides, it would be those. Some of the Dark Sun reports are just... ludicrous. --DekuGuy 01:22, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Alright so I have the new layout up. I wasn't sure if the Dark World levels should be numbered. Alternatively, if we have a walkthrough page for one stage, we could set up the ToC for that stage similar to Diablo II's where you can see an additional page right next to it in parenthesis. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 05:34, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
If we were to do it the Diablo II way... Well, there are actually three versions of each story stage: normal, Dark World, and Land of Carnage. (From what I've seen of the Disgaea community, the latter two versions are usually referred to as Dark and Carnage, respectively: Carnage 13-1, Dark 4-2, etc.) But I haven't gotten to the Land of Carnage yet. (Damn that Treasure Map. ]:<) --DekuGuy 22:05, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Alternatively, if a stage doesn't require much content, you could just put the related Dark World and Land of Carnage content on there too, under its own level 2 header. How many stages are in the game? I'm guessing hundreds? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 00:18, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

There are around 65 story stages, then the Dark and Carnage versions of those. But technically, the last story stage doesn't have a Dark World version, just a normal and Carnage. There's also 12 Extra stages, each of which (I believe) only have the standard version. Finally there's the Item World, which is just an endless string of randomly-generated stages.
But the story stages are divided into 12 sections, which for the most part correspond to the chapters. As the ToC stands, the Walkthrough has the 13 episode numbers and names, and the Dark World Walkthrough has the 12 section names... --DekuGuy 00:35, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
So, technically we could have pages for each of the main sections (like we do now) that contain the content of all of their 12 sections/alternate versions? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 02:03, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
You mean just one page each for the story, dark and carnage walkthroughs? ...I guess you could, but those pages would end up being enormous. --DekuGuy 03:13, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I guess that wouldn't work. I think the Diablo II style ToC might work then (see below). Also, I think we should make sure we have info on every stage, so however that needs to be set up it should be done (at the minimum, simply enemy info should be listed). I'm also confused about how the Dark World/Land of Carnage names are set up; is The Overlord's Daughter episode the same as Town Fields? Another option is to go back to a multi-column layout, and give Land of Carnage a column for those levels as well. If you could make a section (level 3 header) below the Mock ToC that lists the level hierarchy for all 3 that would be awesome (it goes top tier, episode, then stage; right?). --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 04:57, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
The names of the chapters (The Overlord's Daughter, Rozalin the Liar, etc.) are for storytelling purposes. As the game's story progresses, each chapter comes to a conclusion and a new chapter begins, telling a different episode of the overall story arc. Town Fields is the name of a collection of maps associated with the story chapter, selectable on the map select screen. The Dark World and the Land of Carnage have no story, they only have a separate map select screen with identical names for each map, and defeating any map in either of those worlds will not progress the story. So if playing normally (trying to progress the story), go to the Dimension Guide (map select screen) and select Town Fields. If you want to play a more challenging version of those maps, go to the Dark Dimension Guide and select Town Fields to play the Dark World version of those maps. -New User 15:08, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Yep, but the section Battle Arena spans all of Ep6 and Ep7, so the sections and episodes don't perfectly correspond at that point. --DekuGuy 16:36, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm, so does Battle Arena and Colosseum Depths overlap across episodes? Or does BA take up all of Ep6/7 and Colosseum starts at Ep8? Like I said, please make a listing of these things in a new section below the Mock ToC. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 19:18, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm not sure exactly when it went back to normal, but I remember it being uneven. Until someone proves me wrong or starts on Land of Carnage, perhaps it would be better to leave it as is. --DekuGuy 21:24, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Double DoubleJump?[edit]

(Yay for bad puns~!) What's the difference between Category:DoubleJump and Category:DoubleJump Books, and why is this categorized into both? --DekuGuy 01:22, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Because I fail ='( --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 05:16, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
