Controls[edit]

  • P, L, Z, and X: Use these four keys to make Yogi walk up, down, left, and right; you can also press Space to make him jump (and, if you press L or P at the same time, crouch and transform into a bush) along with H to pause the game and Q to abort it (but you should only do this if you have no chance of winning it). It is also possible to use the cursor keys (using 0 instead of Space), or a Sinclair or Kempston joystick.

Yogi Bear[edit]

The eponymous protagonist of this game (who is depicted as yellow in the ZX version due to technical limitations) is upon a mission to save his best friend Boo-Boo (who, as mentioned on the main page, has been "bearnapped" by a bloodthirsty hunter, and he is planning to make some money by selling him to a circus); however, searching Jellystone Park to find him shall not be an easy task and his energy will quickly be drained as he does so, so he will have to find plenty of food to keep him going (which usually comes in the form of the show's trademark picnic baskets, but he can also steal fish from the hooks of fishermen if he comes across them). His energy will also get drained faster than usual when he gets chased by bees, snakes, campers, moose, hunters and Ranger Ned Smith, bowled over by frogs, birds and geysers or hiding from his enemies by transforming into a bush (which is something he never did in the show) - and although he is described as "too nice a bear to fight back" by the manuals he can lure his enemies down holes or into rivers and lakes. He can also go into caves to warp to different parts of the Park; however, some of them can cause him to warp further away from Boo-Boo, as opposed to closer to him. And even if Yogi manages to find Boo-Boo, he will have to get the key to his cage by crossing over eighteen square, triangular, and circular stepping stones in the right order - but if he jumps on them in the wrong order, the hunter's burglar alarm will go off. Boo-Boo left a trail of candy apples with a clue stuck to each, and as Yogi collects them he will be able to work out the right order to jump on the stepping stones; finally, at the start of this game, it is January 1987, but when December comes, Yogi shall have to go into hibernation and the game will immediately end as a result, which means that he has to find Boo-Boo as quickly as he possibly can.
