Stage 8-1[edit]

  • You've made it to the final castle. The battle only intensifies from here. Maintain your composure, and you'll rescue the princess in four short stages.
  • You'll encounter four enemies here: Princess Cats, Gunmen, Buffalo Bison, and a type of Hakaiden that will be invisible to you unless you collected the Beads from Stage 7-4. All of the enemies can be defeated with Kicks except the Bison fighters, so stay in the air unless you need to defeat a Bison.
  • There is absolutely nothing to find in this stage, so don't bother searching. Just steer clear of the pits.

Stage 8-2[edit]

  • The biggest challenge of this stage is getting across the stream to the side of the stage with the door. Bubblins shoot across the bridge making it a very risky prospect as a method of crossing. Your best bet is to perform a Miracle Kick across the far left or right side of the stream, but watch out if too many enemies are waiting for you on the other side.
  • You will be facing Medusa Cats, Princess Cats, and Hakaidans, all of which are vulnerable to kicks fortunately, but Uni-gons will appear from time to time. All you have to do is pace back and forth and simply outlast them.
  • There is a hidden 1-Up in the far left side of the stream, but it can be difficult to reach, let alone collect once it appears due to heavy enemy presence.

Stage 8-3[edit]

  • An astounding variety of enemies will appear on this stage before you are through. Wild Cats, Dragon Men, Dabugons, hopping Isoginchack, and even the Dragon will all show up to fight you. Stay on your toes and keep your sword drawn.
  • The floor is icy, and there are pits about. There are no items to search for, so keep your focus on remaining stable and not sliding to your death. Only one stage lies beyond this one.

Stage 8-4[edit]

  • You've finally made it to the last stage, and the enemy is going to put up a fight. Every type of Dragon, including Dragon Men and invincible Dragon Heads will make an appearance, in addition to the occasional Uni-gon. Four Bubblins will bounce around making travel around the stage quite perilous.
  • As soon as the stage starts, move up immediately as a Uni-gon will show up right away. Out last the Uni-gon by bouncing back and forth between the warp tunnels. There is no need to risk fighting it at this stage.
  • There are actually a few items that you can collect, but considering how late in the game it is, you should have everything that you need at this point. The Gun Ball can be used strategically if you find the enemies are ganging up around you, since they will back off while you are powered up. The hidden Scroll B in the center won't even help you too much.
  • If you manage to open the doors to this stage, congratulations. You've rescued the Princess. Like many other old school NES games, the game will start over after a short ending. You get to keep all of your treasures, but the game will be no more difficult than before.
