Adminship

You know, I think it's definitely about time you were nominated for adminship. If you're OK with it, I'll put you up as a candidate for sysopness, for all the good work you've done here. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 17:58, 26 June 2007 (CDT)

OK, I've made the nomination page here, and it's just waiting for you to fill in a few things. --DrBob (Talk) 06:39, 27 June 2007 (CDT)
As a sysop, you must now show up on IRC. -- Prod (Talk) 20:37, 8 July 2007 (CDT)

Re: Firefox Add-ons

Thanks for the note, and sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. SW was out again, or at least it wasn't working on my computer. Myth 16:58, 27 June 2007 (CDT)

SC: BW

The BW link can be removed from the toc completely, it's linked on the main page. noinclude won't work because that toc is transcluded on every page in the regular StarCraft guide as well, not just the BW guide. -- Prod (Talk) 18:54, 27 June 2007 (CDT)

How about that? -- Prod (Talk) 19:03, 27 June 2007 (CDT)

Sysopiness

Hey, congrats on becoming a sysop. You deserve it after the massive amount of work done. I'm kicking myself for not being around to vote in your election, I'm got to try to be around a little more often. Anyway, congrats and have fun with your new powers. :-) Lunar Knight (Talk to me + Contribs) 10:38, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Don't worry, anything you do we can undo (I haven't tried banning myself....Rocky or Lunar might have...). Only thing to be careful with is Special:Import due to what you are importing and proper attribution. As long as you don't try to ban everyone, play around with your new powers :P. -- Prod (Talk) 21:48, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
You can unban yourself, don't worry xD, Just don't do anything to provoke this, and be careful editing the MediaWiki namespace pages cuz they effect the whole site. Click on contribs and there will be a block button at the top of the page, you can also see it in ppl's names in the recent changes or use this form.--Rocky http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/7/78/Rally-X_Rock.png/25px-Rally-X_Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 01:39, 30 June 2007 (CDT)

My pleasure

You're quite welcome NMH. Unfortunately, my badgering is a sign of my intolerance which is really something that I should be working to improve in myself. Nevertheless, your own improvement here has been remarkable, and can easily serve as a model for the self-improvement that I must also make. So your promotion was well deserved, and I'm glad to be a teammate of yours. Procyon (Talk) 19:08, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Personal Edits

You mentioned "100 or so" and "10 or so", but I didn't understand; 100 or 10 or so what? Could you clear that up? Thanks. --Myth (talk) 20:52, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

I see. Thanks for the note. I'll try and remember that in the future. --Myth (talk) 20:57, 2 July 2007 (CDT)

Images

Will being in the Screenshots cat do? Or do I need to give more info, also the guidelines don't say anytrhing about it.--Rocky http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/7/78/Rally-X_Rock.png/25px-Rally-X_Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 00:18, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

it did before, does this mean I have to go back and add this to all my images or just the few I got from Bulbapedia?--Rocky http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/7/78/Rally-X_Rock.png/25px-Rally-X_Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 00:31, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
Also Do I need to link to the image otr just say the site.--Rocky http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/7/78/Rally-X_Rock.png/25px-Rally-X_Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 00:34, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
I'm not really sure, since it's not a policy at SW yet, but I would try and follow whatWikipedia does by noting fair use/public domain images. So yeah, you have to do this otherwise we are obligated to remove your images since we don't know the legality of potentially copyrighted images. We know pokemon screenshots are owned by the developers/publishers, and that by using them it's fair use and we would have to take them down if they asked us to; but if someone else actually creates it, please put their name down. Go back and add credits where need be. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 00:57, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
All my images are my own except the mountain (which has attribution) and all the Pokédex and sprite images. There are about 500 of them so it would really help if I could just link to BP's cat for Pokémon images--Rocky http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/7/78/Rally-X_Rock.png/25px-Rally-X_Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 01:14, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
What do you mean by the "Bulbapedia thing would be ok", leave them alone or link to them? Thanx for the explanation--Rocky http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/7/78/Rally-X_Rock.png/25px-Rally-X_Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 01:22, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Images are solely the property of the copyright holders of the assets and/or intellectual property depicted therein. Crediting the source is considered a nice thing to do, but it isn't a legal requirement since these images aren't released under the GFDL. GarrettTalk 04:57, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

So do I or do I not have to credit 500+ images to bulbapedia--Rocky http://media.strategywiki.org/images/thumb/7/78/Rally-X_Rock.png/25px-Rally-X_Rock.png (Talk - Contributions) 07:53, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

All images we have are by default "Fair use". Avoid images with trademarks (like gamespot images) and images not created by the official company and we should be fine (unless that images is PD). If the images wasn't created by bp, then you don't have to (cropping doesn't count as making an images). -- Prod (Talk) 21:47, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Looks like you don't Rocky! I bet you're relieved ahaha. --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:08, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

Hyrule Castle map

Hi NMH. Thanks for the compliment ^_^ It all just a lot of GiMP work. The base image was easily found on the internet, just do a search for Zelda Light World and maybe the word map. From there, it was a matter of cutting out the Hyrule Castel Region, adding a 2-px black border to it, and adding the text. The text in the corner conerning the items was just added on, and I pasted the item sprites in. The labels are different. I made them on a seperate buffer, and cut them out and pasted them over the map. I put them all in one layer, and lowered the opacity to around 70% so that the image behind showed through a little bit. It's all a bit involved, but it takes about half an hour. I will be making one of those every all 16 regions (8 light, 8 dark). Procyon (Talk) 13:22, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

lost page

It was Macalania Temple for Final Fantasy X. I am absolutely sure I wrote it, but it's not there anymore. --MutantJones July 10, 2007 10:04

StrategyWiki:Requests for adminship/Front matter

They are noincluded because I'm including the page into StrategyWiki:Guide/RFA Procedure, as Front matter best documents it. However, having two Header Navs doesn't look really good, and substituting it into RFA makes even less sense, as it just wastes space doing the same function. As for the box-thingy, they don't need to see the successful requests (as they probably don't care), and there are a few links to StrategyWiki:Administrators on the page itself anyway. --Safety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 08:25, 19 July 2007 (CDT)

Re: Chrono Trigger Boss Template

No prob :-) I'm going to do some research about the other bosses' stats and complete the Boss page, and then implement it for them too.

OD Jam

The main reason behind the scope is to avoid us turning into an advertising agency. We're here to discuss the major games, not advertise the fun games. -- Prod (Talk) 22:44, 26 July 2007 (CDT)

Peasant's Quest is highly notable since it is strongly associated with Homestar Runner. I haven't looked at Heli Attack 3, but WP has an article about it, so it must be notable (and I'm pretty sure I've played it before). If we start to include any game just because there are a few people who like it, we're going to get hundreds of pages about flash games no one has heard about, while simply increasing the ranking of these non-notable games (essentially advertising for them). -- Prod (Talk) 23:33, 26 July 2007 (CDT)

ODJ

I have a blue haired sword girl in the early hundreds. Even I can't beat that flying hippo.

I DID have the blue dinosaur with the big head, but it rolled its server back after I got it I suppose because when I went to play again it was gone. when I had that thing I was invincible, fast attacks, long range, 4 or so hits every attack. if I still had it I might be able to take the flying hippo down. the only thing I wouldn't fight would be the level 999 demon girl.

Super Powers handbook

This is what I was looking at. Trying to figure out how to move something, but I discovered that you can't move Images. :P Still browsing it some. --IsaacGS 18:57, 29 July 2007 (CDT)

Mega Man X

Hey, I noticed you were working on Mega Man X and felt the need to tag a long. I'm using ZSNES for screenshots (looks like you are too), so together I think we can create a comprehensive guide full of screenshots and information. The format's looking good so far. Looking forward to working on it. ;-) --Antaios 17:42, 2 August 2007 (CDT)

I can contribute lots of information, probably up to Mandrill by tonight. I think the movies would be pretty cool, especially for the Sigma fight at the end, since that's pretty frustrating. Cya around! --Antaios 18:32, 2 August 2007 (CDT)

IP Block

You the one that Ip blocked User:Mr vandal but you ended up inadvertently block me as well as i was about to do some editing . Cab you explain why you ip block instead of just blocking the user please .Richardson j 19:48, 2 August 2007 (CDT)

Well i ended up being unblocked the next day but i don't know wether the ip changed or not as the ip addresses changes but i don't know how i ended up being unblocked .Richardson j 18:33, 3 August 2007 (CDT)

Suggestions for MMX walkthrough

Hi NMH. I know that you tend to use a smaller screen width resolution than I do, so I realize that you're not aware of this, but the walkthrough pages look absolutely horrible at a wide resolution (which is totally not intended to be a criticism of you or your work, just an unfortunate aspect of the wiki.) Without image breaks, the images stack up next to one another like a staircase. In order combat that problem and at the same time, improve the viewability and readability of your walkthrough, try adding {{-}}s followed by level 3 header breaks like I did with LttP. The reason it's helpful to do this is say someone got past the first mini boss of a stage, but he's having trouble with the second leg of the level. The way your walkthroughs are arranged now, I have to skim the whole article to reach the info I'm looking. But if you break the articles up into sections, a reader will be able to scan your walkthrough much more quickly and jump right to the information they are interested in. The level 3 headers also help readers avoid spoilers (if I'm having trouble in the first part, but I don't want to read too far ahead, I'll know to stop at the next section break). If you'd like suggestions on how to break the articles up, just let me know. Keep up the great work! Procyon (Talk) 23:46, 2 August 2007 (CDT)

Tempest (SCII)

According to this the Carrier is back and it replaces the Tempest once again. I'll make changes to the SC2 units page, but I'm just letting you know so you can revert it back if you think it's too early to do that (that's such a nice pic of the Tempest!). Baejung92 18:48, 7 August 2007 (CDT)

System browser

I've reverted your edit to {{system browser}}, since they don't look so good without the padding (nothing ever does). It doesn't give us much extra space anyway. --DrBob (Talk) 13:06, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

I've made a CSS edit to the system browser which should theoretically stop it b0rking in IE. Would you mind trying it again please? (I don't want to reboot into Windows.) --DrBob (Talk) 15:32, 10 August 2007 (CDT)
Meh. I can't think of any other way to get it to work simply, and searching for IE problems with overflow doesn't seem to have turned anything up. I think IE users will have to be brave and use it while b0rken, unless there's anything you can come up with? Oh, and please don't edit my talk archives again. :-P --DrBob (Talk) 16:54, 10 August 2007 (CDT)
I've reverted your edit to {{system browser}} again, as overflow:scroll isn't appropriate: it makes scrollbars appear all the time (in Firefox, at least; and this is the correct behaviour), which looks damn ugly. :-( --DrBob (Talk) 03:30, 11 August 2007 (CDT)
OK. Try hard-refreshing and looking at it again in IE; I've applied one of your sandbox changes to the IE-only CSS. --DrBob (Talk) 03:37, 11 August 2007 (CDT)
So it's completely sorted? --DrBob (Talk) 04:39, 12 August 2007 (CDT)

This is me notifying vandal

You seem to be the only sysop active at the moment... so yeah. User: Imtheman has vandalized a page Baejung92 21:47, 13 August 2007 (CDT)

I think the infinite time was a little harsh. He seemed to be a major contributor to that page, and if he ripped the content out, he must have had some motivation to do so other than vandalizing. It might be a good idea to set the block for a day and ask him to explain his action. Procyon (Talk) 22:10, 13 August 2007 (CDT)
Proc, what do you mean? All of his edits were deletions...? --Notmyhandle (talk contribs) 22:26, 13 August 2007 (CDT)
My apologies, I misinterpreted his contribution history. Disregard my comments. Procyon (Talk) 22:35, 13 August 2007 (CDT)
Unless they are doing something offensive try not to be too harsh a blocker. We can only hope that after a bit of testing, they might join us. I know of one or two users who started off badly, but have helped a bit (once they learned how to work wikis). -- Prod (Talk) 22:44, 17 August 2007 (CDT)

Audition

Hey NMH. Is Audition the same game as wp:Audition Online? I'm trying to cut down on the number of guides needing categories, and I can't find any info on a game called simply "Audition". Additionally, if the games are the same, there's some info on WP about Audition Online which can be transwikied. --DrBob (Talk) 09:16, 14 August 2007 (CDT)

If so, why does our article list the developer/publisher as Nexon, while the WP one doesn't? --DrBob (Talk) 15:45, 14 August 2007 (CDT)
