Dragon Slayer is a series by [[Falcom]]. It is actually made of games whose plots and settings are unrelated. The main link between the various games is the main author, '''Yoshio Kiya'''.
The earliest titles are considered some of the earliest Japanese role-playing games. Actually, they lack any form of dialogue or plot, therefore they would rather belong to the American/computer RPG genre (focused on overabundant character attributes and dungeon exploration).
The series currently counts 22 games. Only seven games were released outside Japan, but actually twelve titles are available in English today. The following table summarizes which games are available in English.

''The Legend of Heroes'' originated its own spin-off series of the same name, that lists 14 games.

The first two titles were released in '''English''', even if they were released in Japan only. Hence, the English icon {{icon|uk}} in the table below. Although they are officially labeled as "role-playing games", Dragon Slayer 1 and 2 hardly fit in the category. They both lack any dialogue with non-playable characters; DS1 also lacks permanent upgrades (some enemies can lower character attributes).

The following table lists original games only (remakes are included on same row); expansion packs will be described within the specific game guide. ''The Legend of Heroes'' originated its own spin-off series of the same name, that lists 14 games. Two online games were released in Japan, but are now defunct: ''Sorcerian Online'' (2006-2012) and ''Dragon Slayer: Warriors of the Crown'' (2012-2014).

<!--The most apparent difference between ''"Dragon Slayer 2: Xanadu"'' and ''"Dragon Slayer: Legend of Xanadu"'' is the fact that the player controls a single hero in DS2 and a party in DS8. For this reason, ''"Xanadu Next"'' can be considered related to DS2, and ''"Tokyo Xanadu"'' as a spin-off from DS6<ref>[http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/tokyo-xanadu/ www.hardcoregaming101.net/tokyo-xanadu]</ref>.-->
