There are six characters to choose from in the game. The game manual says there are no advantages or disadvantages between them, despite also saying there are differences between weight classes and displaying what these differences are for the game modes.

There are three weight classes. Lark and Kiwi are light–weight, meaning they can be easily affected by the wind and react easier to the control stick. Goose and Ibis are middle-weight, meaning they tend to handle pretty well without any real strengths or weaknesses. Hawk and Robin are heavy-weight, meaning they are not easily affected by wind, but they're a bit more difficult to control.
