Walkthrough

This walkthrough follows both Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield's story mode. The entire walkthrough will be split into six major areas, each following every version of Biohazard. Each area will be split into smaller sections of rooms, with each room being numbered consecutively. Some versions of Biohazard will only follow certain rooms, which is why they are numbered (for example, Chris can skip ahead to Main Hall (3), while Jill has to go to L-Shaped Hallway (1), and later on Chris can skip to L-Shaped Hallway (2) and Jill to Main Hall (4)).

Make sure you know the controls for Biohazard first, because the control system may be confusing for some at first.

If you have the original Biohazard (Resident Evil), just select New Game to start right away. If you have Director's Cut, either select Original (the original Biohazard), Beginner (original Biohazard but much easier), or Arranged (completely new story mode). For the Nintendo DS version, either select Classic Mode (original Biohazard) or Rebirth Mode (new story mode). Once you start the game in every version of Biohazard, you'll be asked to choose either Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine.

Character Differences

Jill and Chris are two completely different characters, and you may want to decide which is better for you. If this is your first time playing a Biohazard game, you'll defitenly want to start off as Jill. All of their differences are listed below:

Jill

  • Has eight inventory spaces instead of six.
  • Receives a lockpick that will open almost every major door and any drawer.
  • Barry helps Jill several times throughout the game.
  • Can get the Grenade Launcher but not the Flamethrower.
  • Takes much more damage than Chris.
  • Starts off with a Beretta M92FS, First Aid Spray, and Combat Knife.
  • In Rebirth Mode, she'll have sixty Handgun Bullets, twenty-eight Shotgun Shells, a Green Herb, a Blue Herb, and a Red Herb in one of the item boxes.

Chris

  • Has only six inventory spaces instead of eight.
  • Has to unlock drawers with small keys instead of lockpick (each small key takes up one inventory slot).
  • Rebecca will sometimes heal Chris for free.
  • Can receive the Flamethrower but not the Grenade Launcher.
  • Takes much less damage than Jill.
  • Must use the Sword Key to unlock the Bar, L-Shaped Hallway, and Employee's Bedroom.
  • Only starts off with a Combat Knife and First Aid Spray (and an extra First Aid Spray in Rebirth Mode).
  • In Rebirth Mode, he'll have thirty Handgun Bullets and fourteen Shotgun Shells in one of the item boxes.

Once you select a character, the introduction movie will play, and the game will immediately start once it is over. Enter the survival horror...
