Sword of Fargoal has three versions:
- The Commodore 64 version, currently available as a disk image and requires an emulator.
- The Windows/Mac OS version that has balance and interface updates
- The Vic-20 version
As of this time, two of the three versions are available from the official homepage as a freeware or shareware.
After downloading and launching the game, the interface is simple to use; the character is moved solely by the keypad or joystick, and spells or items are by pressing the appropriate key:

In some cases, you may need to cast a spell instantly (such as teleport to escape a monster attack). In these cases, you can press the action button to cast the spell.)
