As one of the guide pages, can i create a random fact page, or is that to random? It would say about that people don't breathe in Lake Miniwahwah, and things like that. It was just a thought, but I'm not going to make it yet.

I'm not exactly an expert at completion stages, but do you think Dog's Life should be at completion stage 2? The walkthrough doesn't exactly take you 'halfway' through the game, but the game is so simple you could finish it even without a walkthrough. Well, The walkthrough is over a third of the way through, i'd say it's about 6/17 done.[[User:Melon247|Melon247]] 05:33, 13 July 2008 (CDT)

Do there ''have'' to be maps in this guide? I don't have any of those fancy programmes for making maps and stuff and you can't just do what you do in The Dog Island and find a map from the menu, because Dog's Life has no maps in gameplay. SO if the guide ''really'' needs maps, you'll have to settle with them being done in paint. --[[user:Melon247|Melon247]], The [[Dog's Life]] Expert 16:26, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
:I don't see why maps are even necessary; Melon did a good job explaining where everything is. The maps aren't referenced even one time in the guide and the ones that are up right now look like crap. Unless we get some cleaner versions, those map images only make the guide less appealing. - [[User:Najzere|'''naj''']][[User_talk:Najzere|<font color="green">zere</font>]] 16:55, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
::It'd be nice if we had someone available who is good with Photoshop/GIMP/etc. and plays the game.  Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like we do.  I say forego the maps for the time being (it's not like they are completely necessary for a featured guide anyway) and then maybe add some in the future.--'''[[User:Dukeruckley|<font color="blue">Duke</font><font color="red">Ruckley</font>]]<small>[[User_talk:Dukeruckley|Talk]] <nowiki>|</nowiki> [[Special:Contributions/Dukeruckley|Contribs]]</small>''' 16:57, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
I'll take the current maps off the guide and I'll probably put delete templates on them, because if we do need them again (though I'm not sure why) I can always re upload them. --[[user:Melon247|Melon247]], The [[Dog's Life]] Expert 09:27, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

I added things to the empty spaces. I think it should be called 'Smellovision' because in the guide leaflet thing that comes with the game (and every game) it is spelt 'Smellovision'.

Najzere, you seem to have added stuff about the St. Bernard to the Bull Mastiff. How come? The Bull Mastiff is the local dog in the Mountain Tops and the St. Bernard is the local dog in the Mountain Slide. They are different dogs! You don't get the same dog in two different levels! --[[user:Melon247|Melon247]], The [[Dog's Life]] Expert 18:00, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
:Sorry, my fault. I thought the picture was the same in both and I think they both said "St. Bernard" so I got confused. I'll put it back. - [[User:Najzere|'''naj''']][[User_talk:Najzere|<font color="green">zere</font>]] 18:18, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
An anon changed it, they obviously got confused. --[[user:Melon247|Melon247]], The [[Dog's Life]] Expert 18:20, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
:Okay, fixed! They were both titled "St. Bernard" and the pictures were similar, so I tried to combine them. Sorry 'bout that. By the way, as you can see I'm going through the guide implementing the consistency issues from the table above, and I've come up with a couple more questions you can clear up for me.
# What is the local dog's name on the [[Dog's Life/Village Houses|Village Houses]] level? She is originally referred to as "Snooky", then later as "Shnooki" and the image file name says "Snooki".
# Is the guitarist's song on the [[Dog's Life/Park|Park]] level going to be "The Awesomely Wicked Dog" like it says, or "The Wickedly Awesome Dog", which makes more sense to me since Jake's a nice dog?
:- [[User:Najzere|'''naj''']][[User_talk:Najzere|<font color="green">zere</font>]] 18:28, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Ok, the first question I have no idea how to spell her name (considering there's no subtitles in this game), and that anon came and spelt it Snooky (which looks right, so that's probably how to spell it). And for the second question, the guitarist says he's going to call it 'The Awesomely Wicked Dog', so I guess he means wicked as cool, not as an evil witch! --[[user:Melon247|Melon247]], The [[Dog's Life]] Expert 18:35, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
What else needs to be done to get it to featured guide status? Loads of people have been copyediting and there's lots of images and stuff. And also, should I take out the images of Jake in the able of contents? And I wonder if Skizzers still opposes the guide. --[[user:Melon247|Melon247]], The [[Dog's Life]] Expert 09:58, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
:I didn't have a problem with the images, in fact I've seen them used in plenty of other guides. I changed the ToC to remove them though, so take a look and see if you like it that way. It has a sleeker profile when expanded, but if you want the pictures back, we can just revert it. - [[User:Najzere|'''naj''']][[User_talk:Najzere|<font color="green">zere</font>]] 17:05, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Ok, pictures are sorted, but what else do we need to do? --[[user:Melon247|Melon247]], The [[Dog's Life]] Expert 18:04, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
I just read through the questions you put at the beginning of this bit. The guy on the radio has a stake but later he's eaten it and can't decide what to do with the bone, so he tells Jake to bury it or something. And also, naj, I hope you don't mind I tried using the template thing you use for your signature, except mine just looks... wrong. Have any ideas on making it look better (sorry I'm going off subject)--[[User:Melon247|'''Melon''']][[User_talk:Melon247|<font color="orange">247</font>]], The [[Dog's Life]] Expert 18:14, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

The colour just looked a bit odd, that's all. But anyway, what else is there to do? (for the third time) --[[User:Melon247|'''Melon''']][[User_talk:Melon247|<font color="orange">247</font>]], The [[Dog's Life]] Expert 18:34, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

: I'd be against this. The amount of information per character is trivial at most, and the template as it currently stands moves the page away from the standard appearance of StrategyWiki pages. It also does not use standard headers, meaning the page markup makes less sense. This has the benefit of removing the ToC from the page, but you could've simply put <nowiki>__NOTOC__</nowiki> at the top of the page to achieve the same effect. I think time would better be spent simply making that edit (and perhaps adding thumbnail sizes — 200px) to the page itself. Keep editing! --[[User:DrBob|DrBob]] ([[User_talk:DrBob|talk]]) 16:42, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

::I disagree on one point DrBob.  I think that straying away from the standard appearance of SW pages can be a good thing in some cases.  In this particular case, I think it is a bit overkill.  However, I think the guide as a whole could use something a little different.  The idea of SW is to provide a cleaner, nicer look than plaintext guides.  This should come across in a manner similar to what Najzere proposes.

:::::I could use a little clarification on some of these terms. What do standard headers consist of? And what is the userspace? Also, when a template is considered "overkill" is that in terms of using nothing but the template on the page, or the way the template itself looks? I just threw together random shades of blue for that, and I think it looks kinda ''heavy'', you know? I like the idea of putting the local dogs' info in the guide, but I was thinking maybe something a little smaller and less attention-grabbing. Something between the current template and a sidebar. Is that what everyone has in mind? One more thing, is there a place where I can see standard formatting info for the site in general? Things like the colors, fonts, weights, etc. so I can make things look more like they belong here. Thanks, - [[User:Najzere|'''naj''']]<font color="green">[[User_talk:Najzere|zere]]</font> 06:26, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
::::::I actually don't know what Prod meant by that... but a standard header is sentence, word, or phrase that follows sentence grammar but does not end in a period. By "header", I'm referring to wiki markup such as: "<nowiki>==HEADER==</nowiki>". I like the current format of the template, as seen in the guide with Lopez, but it could probably be better suited as a sidebar. If you're going for colors, you can check out [[MediaWiki:Common.css]] (see the talk page for readable stuff) OR if you have a graphics program you can screenshot SW and use the program to pinpoint specific colors. We try to rid our content of extra colors most of the time just for... standardizing purposes but if it looks good I dunno. For example [[Chrono Trigger/Techniques]] used to be complete colored (see one of the older versions of the page) until we started using {{t|prettytable}} for table layouts. --{{User:Notmyhandle/Sig}} 00:49, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
:DrBob was referring to using standard headers like == xxx ==.  Userspace means that any tests you do shouldn't really be subpages of the guide, but subpages of your userpage (like the sandbox you have).  It's overkill mostly because it isn't necessary.  The [[SW:GUIDE]] should have some info about colours and things like that, but we try to stick to bluish colours. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|Talk]]) 04:02, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
== Image Categorization ==
I had a thought, and that is are the images from the guide supposed to be in the Screenshots category? I don't mind going round and changing them, but I'd like to find out first so I'm not wasting my time. --[[User:Melon247|<font color="red">Me</font><font color="green">lon</font>]][[User_talk:Melon247|<font color="orange">2</font><font color="purple">4</font><font color="blue">7</font>]] 08:58, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
:If they're screenshots, then yes. Screenshots are captures from the game that haven't been cropped much, if at all. Usually they will show more than one game element and in a lot of cases the user interface can be seen. The images being used for the characters, though of course taken from a screenshot, have been cropped down to only show one game element, so don't belong in the category. But just from memory, I'd say most of the ones in the walkthrough are definitely screenshots. From a broader perspective, all the images should have at least one descriptive category tag to go along with the Dog's Life images category.
