| :::Unfortunately, it's a notorious problem with fair use… The guy has copyrighted his effort to compose the maps, not the content of the maps themselves. However, (and Najzere was probably unaware if this fact,) Rick Bruns has given us permission to reproduce his work on this site. He is [[User:Snesmaster]]. Personally, I would prefer if the maps on this site did not contain any copyright watermarks. Those images can be cropped to remove them and reuploaded. | == KOF names ==
| |
|
| |
| Is there a special reason you are changing the names of the KOF charactes? I allways used the first names of the characters as a reference on purpose, since that way, it works exactly the same everywhere on every character. I know that some charactes are are usually refered to by their last names (for example Goenitz), but why did you use Daimon instead of Goro?--[[User:Bmuig|Bmuig]] 13:40, 18 January 2009 (UTC)([[:User Talk:Bmuig|talk]])
| |
| :Because he is always, ALWAYS, referred to as Daimon. The same with Goenits, Krauser, Kensou and Yamazaki. I think arbitrarily using first names is an incredibly bad idea, you might as well call [[Street Fighter II/Characters/E. Honda|E. Honda]] as Edmund, [[Street Fighter II/Characters/T. Hawk|T. Hawk]] as Thunder, [[Final Fight|Hagger]] as Mike, [[Mortal Kombat 3|Stryker]] as Kurtis, ect. Those without background knowledge of the games wouldn't know who your talking about.--[[User:Blue Phoenix|Blue Phoenix]] 14:17, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
| |
| ::I just rechecked KOF'94 to '96 and it's always ''Goro Daimon'' in all three games. But that's really not the point: whenever I refer to a character I allways use the full name or the common name (take for example Geonitz), the first name rule only applys to the directory where the characterinformation is stored. So yes you are right, People who don't have backround information won't know what I'm talking about, but they also won't ever see Goro or Leopold anywhere.
| |
|
| |
| ::To summ this up: I only wanted to have a rule as to where to put those characters and I didn't want to use full names and using last names is a problem when multiple characters have the same last name (Terry and Andy). So I went with first names ... if you think you need to change that go right ahead, that's what Wikis are for^^. I was only asking if there was some special reason... <br />

| ::Keep up the good work :) <br />

| Are the conditionals really required? If it was a template it'd be fine, but these are pages and should depend on things like that. We have added complexity so that we don't have to add the same information multiple times, but if it gets too complicated, noone will be able to maintain it. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|Talk]]) 18:04, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

| == Image cleanup ==
| |
|
| |
| Hey Blue Phoenix, great job with all the cleanup you've been doing on the images around here. I spend a lot of time on them myself so I appreciate all your hard work. Here's a couple tips:
| |
| *{{c|Characters}} and {{c|Icons}} are sub-categories of {{c|Artwork}}, so images shouldn't be tagged with both. Just the most specific tags should be on there (i.e. Character is better than Artwork in narrowing down the kind of image it is).
| |
| *Image names don't have to contain only full words and spaces; as you can see on the [[StrategyWiki:Images|policy page]], abbreviations are fine! For example, PM_Mario.jpg is okay, it doesn't have to be Paper_Mario_character_Mario.jpg.
| |
| I hope you know that you are a ''de facto'' member of the [[StrategyWiki:Cleanup project|Cleanup project]]! If you want, you can put a <nowiki>[[Category:Cleanup project members|B]]</nowiki> tag on your userpage to represent. Thanks again for helping to fix some of our more retarded images! - [[User:Najzere|'''naj''']][[User_talk:Najzere|<font color="green">zere</font>]] 17:16, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
| |
| :Ahh, now we have a problem. Please don't create your own image categories, like Paper Mario badges. Also don't remove proper image categories from images (like Sprites). Technically, almost every image should be categorized as either {{c|Sprites}} or {{c|Models}}. Then a descriptive category, such as Items, Characters, Icons, etc. Finally, they should be tagged with the guide-specific category (i.e. ''Game Name'' images). Images that don't use Sprites or Models categories are images like Photos, Box artwork, Screenshots. You're making a lot of edits right now, and I have to come through and fix too many of them. Familiarize yourself with [[StrategyWiki:Images|image policy]] and let's be a little saner about categorizing and renaming. Thanks, - [[User:Najzere|'''naj''']][[User_talk:Najzere|<font color="green">zere</font>]] 19:08, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

| ::Okay, last warning. I hate having to do this, because I think your heart is in the right place, but I really don't feel like having to delete 50+ redirects from unnecessary page moves. You need to look at what I've been saying about our naming policy and stop creating unneeded hassles by renaming images that are fine. Something like "Paper Mario nutty cake.gif" to "Paper Mario item nutty cake.gif" is ridiculous. The image should be tagged with the Items category, plus I think it's fairly obvious it is an item. It doesn't need to say so in the name of the file. Please stop renaming images that already conform to our policy. Please read through the links I've been posting on your talk page. If this continues, I will block you for a couple days. Let's not have it come to that. |
| |
| Marvel and DC are Comic book companies, that fall outside of the scope of StrategyWiki. {{c|Marvel}} is a "series" category relating only to games that essentially have the word Marvel in their name. Technically, Iron Man and Spider man should be removed since they have their own series'. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|Talk]]) 23:01, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
