I was editing the move list for Duck King in Real Bout Fatal Fury, but for whatever reason his picture didn't show up. Can you help me?

With regards to your edit of the Walkthrough page, I feel I should tell you the cabinet has a special "life" setting; by pushing Tab in [[MAME]] and picking "Dip Switches", you will find it (it is set to "2" by default, but can be upped to "3"). == [[User_talk:Abacos#Japanese_vs_English_titles|Japanese vs English titles]] ==

Hi Procyon. First of all, happy new year!

When I wrote to Sonic Hussein, I applied some psychology. I listed five corrections, and I expected him to follow just some of them, to probe what was really bothering him. As it turned out, he followed four out of five, leaving out just the less meaningful (Jap-Eng), and that is way better than what I hoped! I think he was too hasty in editing and too lazy to read all the website rules. If the guy avoided the ban, everybody wins.

About the English vs. Japanese titles, I know the Strategywiki policy and I agree with it. In fact, I used the subtle specification "the <u>due</u> priority", that is different from "an <u>absolute</u> priority". I explain. I feel that writing, e.g.: ''"Mega Man, also known as Rockman in Japan"'', sounds like: ''"Mega Man was made in a Western country, but the Japanese changed the title to Rockman"''; so I would prefer, e.g.: ''"Mega Man was originally released in Japan as Rockman"''. It is just my whim, so I won't get anal about it. Therefore, I decided to leave alone the last edits by Hussein Sonic for the time being, even if "or known as" is outright wrong. --[[User:Abacos|Abacos]] ([[User talk:Abacos|talk]]) 10:44, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

== Bruh. ==

Sooo.... why was the Melee tier list deleted? I was adding that in to be consistent with the Brawl page having it's tier list added, and I was gonna fill it in. I wasn't gonna leave it in it's current state!

== I'll definitely look at point No. 2 again; I kind of forgot about that during my hiatus ==

And yeah, the bold-face was to draw attention; I'll see what I can do about that.  Thanks for pointing that out so graciously; I really appreciate that, and I will fix the issue!  Have a happy Easter, and God bless you!

EDIT: Oh yes, btw; what's the reasoning for marking a page as "Minor Edit"?  Each edit requires you to provide a summary regardless, so I'm wondering if that's something for the mods?

== Re: Signing and minor edits ==

Ah, I see.  Good to know that I've been using the "Minor Edit" box correctly.

As for reducing the bold-face, it's my pleasure man.  I want this guide to be as great as it can possibly be; so I'm more than happy for every bit of editing assistance you've got.  Thank you so much, and God bless you.

== When you update an image; how long does it take for the changes to take effect? ==

About a day ago, I realized I wanted to add more information to one of the images I uploaded, so I did so.  But, looking at it, it seemed the updated image didn't reflect any of the changes I made; so I just assumed I accidentally uploaded an old version, and replaced it again.  I got a message saying that I was uploading a duplicate, but I chose to save it anyway...

And then, lo and behold, the previous one suddenly had the changes I made...for some reason.  So it seems to me like there's some sort of lag that happens before the first version is swapped out for the updated version; but I don't know how that works.  Would you mind explaining that to me?

Thank you so much, and God bless you.

== I wish to update my guide so that it better keeps track of collectables; is it ok if I use the bold-face font for that? ==

So for example, instead of this specific passage reading like this...

{{Quote|Current Verson|Goowain can be recruited where the northwest Mini Medal is in the remakes!}}

I would want it to read more like this:

{{Quote|Updated Verson|Goowain can be recruited where the '''24th''' Mini Medal is in the remakes!}}

Would that be ok?  That's the convention that the latter half of my guide uses, but I could simply change the latter half if that's more desirable.

== Re: Mini-Medals ==

Sounds good!  I also updated the SNES Mini Medal icon to be higher quality; the original was fine, but I knew of a way to make it even better while still keeping it the exact same size.  Thanks for all your help!

==Saw your comment on my edit to Digimon World: Dawn And Dusk/Controls==

What I said in email was that, it being my first edit on StrategyWiki, I felt it'd be less of a faux pas to reference a page with identical content rather than get someone angry at me for plagiarism of their work.

== Re: Image Name ==

Yeah, that was a typo. I meant for the new name to be "DQ6 Murdaw's Keep Part 1.png"; but I guess I goofed.  I was also typing that from my iPad, which is prone to crashing on Strategy Woki, so I forgot to use the Preview button, once again.

== Templates for Dailymotion? ==

This is Fionordequester, and I'm now covering the final boss of Dragon Quest VI.  He is by far the hardest, longest, most complicated fight in the game, so I wanted to make a video walkthrough of that fight like I did for the "VS. Murdaw, Round 2" page.  Actually, I wanted to make two of them; one for those who followed the guide, and one for those who didn't.

However, Youtube does not allow annotations to be made anymore, so I can't commentate on everything happening in the fight like I could for the previous video; so I uploaded the two videos to Dailymotion instead.  But it doesn't look like there's a template for Dailymotion.

Is there any possibility that one could be created, or is that something that would take a while to do?  Thank you for your time.

==Questions. mostly about Final Fantasy X==
1. Can I use information from another wiki - wikia to be exact, to add to this walkthrough, if I don't use this information verbatim? Is most of the information on strategywiki user generated? meaning, it's completely researched on the user's part? Or are there other sites I can quote if I leave a source?
2. How do I know what type of information to add to a stub? I'm specifically referencing the main Final Fantasy X page, I would like to edit that, but I'm not sure where to start.
3. Are any walkthrough videos hosted on this site? Can we add personally made videos, or links to good walkthrough videos?

==Pre-load buttons==
[[File:StrategyWiki Template Page Buttons.jpg|thumb|The pre-load buttons.]]
In order to keep pages on the wiki neat and uniform, we employ certain formatting and templates to help us accomplish this. When creating a new page, please use one of the pre-load buttons located above the edit text box (e.g. click on "Guide page" to add {{t|Header Nav}} to the top and {{t|Footer Nav}} to the bottom), which will insert the needed templates and formatting for you. These templates are very handy because they include the templates that are required for each page type. If you are unsure about how to use them, or what pages to use them on, please let me know. Thanks for keeping the wiki organized! — '''[[User:Procyon|<span style="color:red">Pro</span>]][[User talk:Procyon|<span style="color:grey">cyon</span>]]''' 01:11, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
:Every new page you added is missing the Header and Footer Navs.  Could you please go back to each new page and add them to the top and bottom of the pages respectively?  When editing the page, you can use the Guide markup insert box below the edit box.  You'll see <nowiki>{{Header Nav|game={{subst:BASEPAGENAME}}}}</nowiki> and <nowiki>{{Footer Nav|game={{subst:BASEPAGENAME}}|prevpage=|nextpage=}}</nowiki> in there.  Just click on them to insert them into the page.  It would be nice if you could fill in the prevpage and nextpage links, but it's not required.  Thanks.  '''[[User:Procyon|<span style="color:red">Pro</span>]][[User talk:Procyon|<span style="color:grey">cyon</span>]]''' 01:11, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
::Hello Procyon. I am sorry but I didn't knew that. I had the idea of adding links to the military units and other similar pages with it as it is lacking in the AoE2 walkthroughs.

== Reply on writing quality. ==

Thank you for your honest opinion. I guess I haven't really done the editing, the right and proper way. I'm just trying to hard to add as much gameplay info as I can including spoilers and such. Perhaps I should tell you I have mild autism. I just need a place to exert my creativity. I have no complaints against you since you're obviously normal.

I'll do my best to follow your example. By the way, I saw like gold stars on the top of those games. Are those featured guides? What makes a feature guide? There's still more for me to learn. And if "Trial and Tribulations" gets a gold star, I'll be very happy.

It won't be easy but I'll try not to be such a nuisance when it comes to editing in things that you wouldn't like me to do.

== Advice on horror games. ==

It might be just me but I'm still figuring out how to do this without being scared of those games. Games for example like Doom, Resident Evil etc can take a while to accomplish. Of course I live in Australia and the current climate is very hot. So I'm taking a break until the heat cools down. Believe me, it's hard working in the heat, especially if the humidity is high.

I've already accomplished in dealing with the Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy with a few other similar games. So because Christmas and New Years is a few weeks away, I'm going to wait until February to start working on much tougher Nintendo Switch projects I wanted to do.

I appreciate the advices you gave me and I have no grudge against you. Instead, I want to say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Thanks. From [[User:Johnnyauau2000|Johnnyauau2000]] ([[User talk:Johnnyauau2000|talk]]) 07:44, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

== RE: DW3 Party Article Complexity ==

Looking at the page before and after I started my edits, I see your point.  But I also have one request.  Could I edit the parts that conflict with whatever advice I give in the "Advanced" page?  Because otherwise, you have two pages that contradict each other in rapid succession.

Also, I contacted the original page writer, Koweja, to let him know that I had begun changing the page he started.  I realized I wouldn't feel terribly good if someone started editing my own DQ6 walkthrough without talking to me about it...so I reached out to him to keep him in the loop.

:Oh no, I wasn't asking if YOU could find someone to do that FOR me.  No, I was asking if I could do it myself, after waiting for Koweja to respond to me.  Even then, I'm not going to change anything till I've finished my own page.  I was just asking for the future.

== Much Obliged for the greetings ==

Thanks for the little welcoming and what not. It's greatly appreciated. I do want to apologize if I come up as editing multiple pages or such on the system. Still getting used to wiki markup and don't always have the spur of the moment to finish editing pages. I will get as much as what I started finished to the best of my ability if it can be minded. Though yea, really this is mostly a thank you notice. Was actually afraid I might've been yelled at for the WIP control page of Sonic Colors or something haha. I hope this will be published in the right section, if not I'll at least know which buttons not to hit next time.[[User:FancyJozie|FancyJozie]] ([[User talk:FancyJozie|talk]]) 01:46, 15 December 2017 (UTC)

== RE: External Linking ==

Yeah, my apologies.  I knew it wasn't a perfect solution; but the information I linked there was really important information...Too important to leave out for too long.  I'm not comfortable doing really heavy duty page formatting.  Plus, it seemed like that guide would have taken a while to reconstruct.

So if I run into a similar situation in the future, what would you recommend I do?

:I am very sorry to have caused you such frustration.  I seem to have a very difficult time understanding how this all works.  Would you prefer that I run my pages by you before posting anything?  At least till I've managed three or so page edits without incidence?  I truly don't want to make life hard for you...

A user made modifications to a number of move lists linked from this page. They definitely messed up where the {{t|Special Move}} template closes, but it doesn't seem to have broken the layout. Most of the changes seem cosmetic, so I'm wondering if you can verify his changes before I subst them to the main page. -- [[User:Prod|Prod]] ([[User talk:Prod|talk]]) 09:01, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

== Metroid (NES): Mistake in map of Kraid's Lair / Hideout I ==

Hello,

while replaying Metroid (NES) I enjoyed your detailed maps of the game. Unfortunately I have found a small mistake in the one of Kraid's Lair / Hideout I. To be more exact, I mean the room left of label 4. You can bomb the floor there to get to the room below, but the map does not show that there is a passage (you actually have to go through there if you want to battle Kraid without the ice beam).
Maybe you can connect those two rooms. :) [[User:Rob-in|Rob-in]] ([[User talk:Rob-in|talk]]) 23:34, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

[[User_talk:Abacos/Archive:_2012-2017#Guide_completion|Long, long ago...]] you asked me if I wanted to propose for "featured guide" one of my Ultima guides. I finally completed the guide for ''[[Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar]]''. Actually, since I just cleared the game four times in a row on four different platforms (Amiga, Master System, NES, Atari ST), I started getting a bit sick of it. Nevertheless, if there is an ''Ultima'' that deserves to be put under the limelight, this is the one. The player can learn actual '''''philosophy''''' from it! == The editing features on Strategywiki are too complicated for me. ==

To the user Procyon and the Strategywiki staff.

As I was trying to build up the strategy guide for Final Fantasy VIII I was going to have the Weapons page and Enemies page built in a column form like other strategy guide websites. But the editing features on this website are very complicated, complex and overwhelming for me as I'm autistic. But I want to get Final Fantasy VIII guides build up and I've played the game before.

Can we update this website so we can simplify the editing features the way Fandom websites are now doing it? For building up the Weapons page and enemies page mainly the column page buildup. Because I don't like the complex editing features which is too advanced for me.

I really want to help out in some way. I'm sorry for my poor unprofessional presentation on the strategy guides I'll make sure to do better next time.

By the way I need help building up Final Fantasy 8 strategy guide I would like to see it get built up for readers to refer to online.

:{{User|Procyon}} Thanks for the compliment. Hello. Sorry for the delay in finishing Super Mario Land sprite replacements. Unfortunately, the ones currently being used are not authentic to the game in any way. They are absolutely not found in the game to any capacity, hence my insistence on replacing them as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the actual size sprites are small, and being able to accurately display them was difficult. Prod and I were discussing how to move forward for the last of those files, and it was sent into a type of limbo. As it stands the files used now should not be used at all--they aren't from the game at all. If you have any suggestions to have better file upscaling or to avoid using upscaling at all, please feel free to leave a new message on [[User talk:Trig Jegman|my talk page]] or something. I'm a Discord user myself but I do not recall seeing you around. Thanks! [[User:Trig Jegman|Trig]] - 05:31, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi i was wondering, would you prefer when writing an article (e.g. enemies guide), if i had to make a quick change and I didn’t have the time to go through an entire thing at once, would you prefer me to initially either list them as headers that are empty underneath or list them in dots points (in case) and then expand on them when i have the chance? == TY for work on the Mighty Bomb Jack page ==
Hey. Just wanted to say thank you for all the work you did on the Mighty Bomb Jack page. I recently discovered it while trying to make a full game map. All I came for was the images of all the rooms so I could layer them together in a GIMP project... but then I noticed that crazy shortcut from 5 to 11! Turns out it saves time in speedruns compared to warping between the Palace Rooms. It helped me recently get World Record!
I was hoping you could tell me where you found that trick. Seems crazy to think someone could discover it by accident. Did you do a code disassembly or was it in some sort of Nintendo Power or old school strategy guide? Sourcing[edit]

I'm looking to convert a lot of screenshots and you're responsible for a lot of em. Do you remember if you captured any of the screenshots below? If not, remember where they came from? I would share more, but can only generate 500 at a time!

Much thanks! Trig - 06:20, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi Trig Jegman (talk · contribs). Yeah, I captured a lot of those images personally, especially the single screen games like Combat, Bubble Bobble, Lode Runner, and Chack'n Pop. Other games like Castle Excellent and Athena were done so long ago, I'm not sure I'd be able to locate them again if I tried. I have a tendency to add markup to them in the process of making them consumable for a walkthrough. I know this isn't the most satisfactory answer, but it's the best I have right now. If I somehow conjure up the source for some of the other images, I'll let you know. But I'm more likely to stumble across them accidentally than intentionally. Procyon 03:01, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
Maybe to put this another way, are there any significant examples you can think of where you didn't self capture them? Trig - 04:17, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Thanks for the Thanks[edit]

Hey Procyon,

No problem! After I finish the RSE guide, I'm going to apply the new templates me and Prod made to the FRLG pages too - Hopefully, it'll decrease the file size for them. Then I'll probably check out the other Pokémon guides to see what they're like, and maybe go onto a different franchise. Pakuchi -- Someone! Anyone! Respond! 13:54, 1 February 2022 (UTC)

I need some guidance[edit]

Hi Procyon! Um, honestly I am kind of embarrassed on pinging you about this considering that you are the head of StrategyWiki, but the thing is, I want to ask for guidance from you regarding about some of my guides because recently I have been thinking of something, I want to know what you think and what will be your advice to me regarding about this, this will be somewhat long so I hope you have time to read, also thank you very much for writing on my Talk page along with Prod, so here it is, I've been thinking of this for quite a while now.

You see, I have these 2 games named Astrobatics and Alien Sky that I made a Stage 2 guide from, and what bothers me is that no matter how much I think of how to improve the guides for these 2 (I can still improve them, in fact 2 more overhauls each but it is not that significant anymore) I can't really think of what more I can provide for these 2 games to make the guides for them Stage 3 eligible, the issue I am thinking about is its levels, or missions as what the games refer, it is some sort of a real time mission

Here are some samples of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRzhucERGqE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7X_VzuQG14

The problem with these missions is that they really can't be described anymore with text + picture, while these games have predictable pacing as what I mentioned in its Walkthrough page, this is a roadblock that I feel like its unnecessary to break through

Explaining these missions "down to the bone" as in referring to where would enemies come in, come out, and all that, just feels like unnecessary information and nobody would basically read it, a good example of a game just like this is Sky Force Reloaded, a game I have also nearly mastered a few months ago, I even have my runs in this game uploaded in my YouTube account and I can provide a sample, and just like these 2 games, Sky Force Reloaded also has the same kind of level, basically real time, it has predictable pacing but the levels are way too complex to be torn apart into text + picture form, if you want to recognize the levels of this game you would rather want to just do a trial and error, train your mind memory and muscle memory until you recognize where will enemies appear since enemy positions and appearances don't change, only drops do.

I have been thinking just now that what if the guides for Astrobatics and Alien Sky are already Stage 3 eligible at this point? I will still have to improve them but I believe once I did, they should be at least Stage 3 eligible, but I am afraid that some people may attempt to dispute its ranking and say that it may miss an information, which is also a big problem on my part because I cannot look for someone who has played these 2 games, finished it completely, and then decide to pay my guide a visit and judge it

Assuming that you gave me a go signal to make these guides Stage 3 eligible, I will take that into mind and once I have finally provided 2 more major overhauls I will upgrade it to Stage 3, then, if I was able to find someone who can read these guides and tell me how it is, if it came out as having a really good review saying that it is comprehensive enough, then I will upgrade it to Stage 4 but this is a process that I won't be able to do in just days unless if I am lucky enough to find one quick.

I am really sorry for the inconvenience Procyon, I have mentioned you on Discord about this but it seems that you are already not active in there, thank you. Stormshadow429 (talk) 07:24, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
