@Notmyhandle: Is it me, or is that despite applying the edit on Template:Secret of Mana/Enemy that changes from GIF to PNG so that the GIF versions will be deleted, the wiki still thinks that [<nowiki/>[:File:SOM_Dark_Funk.gif]] is still used, and not :File:SOM_Dark_Funk.png? I tried purging with "?action=purge" and "?action=purge", but no dice. --RAP (talk) 21:13, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

:When I replaced the images on Castlevania: Circle of the Moon/Cards, the same thing happened. After template changes are made, our job queue, which can no longer be viewed, goes way up. Jobs get completed whenever a page is loaded. But I haven't seen any major edits today. Prod, please take a look. If it is still like this in 24 hours I assume it is a bug. -- 21:45, 6 April 2014 (UTC)

Notmyhandle, it will take a while before I decide to switch to the latest skin after several stares, looks, and performing functions of the UI; attempt for transition is hindered by being occupied in education. Curious (and as a chance to convince me to hasten the switch faster), what encouraged you to switch from Monobook to Dolphin (the latest skin)? How long did you use the old skin before finally moving on? --RAP (talk) 05:18, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

:Before Monobook, we had a really awesome custom skin that got me first attached to StrategyWiki. It was called BlueCloud. Then I made a personal mod for BlueCloud that was themed red.  BlueCloud was abandoned after ~4 years of use. So ~2 years ago Dolphin arrived. At this point I had switched to Monobook and was not impressed by Dolphin. However, since Dolphin has stuck, I primarily made the change because 1) we had formatting conflicts between Dolphin and Monobook, and Dolphin is priority since it is what default viewers will see and 2) page width is significantly restricted in Dolphin and text cannot go off to the right of the screen infinitely. This means that tables have to be formatted to be constricted, or separated into multiple tables. So, we end up with completely different content with Dolphin and its not something I want to fight since it is our permanent public/default skin. Monobook is great for Wikipedia, but no longer for StrategyWiki. -- 14:41, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
:::Just to provide a little more background, we did have Blue Cloud for a long time to set us apart from all the other wikis which sprouted around the same time, using the same skin as Wikipedia.  It was a nice way to look different without changing all that much.  Then we introduced what was considered Dolphin 1.0, which is now Whale, as a way to liven things up a lot, give us a fresher, more up-to-date look, and address some issues we were having with space.  Around the same time, the idea for the Auto-toc that appears on the lower left portion of the current skin was dreamed up, but it took a lot longer to code and implement.  When it was finally ready, we launched Dolphin 2.0, which took over the Dolphin skin name, and the original was reassigned to Whale.  Dolphin 2.0 was set primarily up to incorporate the Auto-toc, which was designed to address difficulty that some people were having navigating our guides, but also to address monetization short-comings that our business partners wanted to address. ::If you want to fix a broken gif, replace it with a png and use delete on the gif. -- 17:37, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
:::Notmyhandle, switched to the latest skin, quite an eye opener when it comes to compatibility and formatting...it will take a while though. You certain? The wait is too long? The broken GIFs thing are not going to be fixed at all? Procyon said that there are no broken GIFs in Astro Warrior and may be misinterpreted as me wasting time replacing images again. --RAP (talk) 23:04, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
::::[<nowiki/>[:File:AstroWarrior startscreen.gif]] is broken to me on Astro Warrior. I'm using Google Chrome/Dolphin. -- 00:31, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
Hmm...I'm gonna see what I'm going to do Notmyhandle, starting up the replace-a-thon of GIFs that look broken when thumbnailed. I'm going to be busy the weekend after this day unfortunately; next week. --RAP (talk) 00:53, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
: It's funny, when I looked at that page in Firefox on my Mac at work, it looked fine, but when I looked at it tonight in Firefox on my Ubuntu laptop, it is indeed broken.  We have been trying to find a "quick fix" for the broken GIF issue, but it has eluded us for a long time.  Feel free to replace the broken GIFs with PNGs.  <span style="color:red">Pro</span><span style="color:grey">cyon</span> 01:39, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
All caps
Please do not use all capitalized letters anywhere on this site. We use sentence case, so Note: sentence is the syntax we use (where sentence begins with a lower case letter). -- 16:36, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
:Notmyhandle, would underlining be more acceptable? I would like to make bulletpoints that specifically call the user's attention on a particular entry with emphasis: like "<u>Tip:</u>" for giving the player info on how to effectively utilize this given tool, and "<u>Caution:</u>" for giving the player potential risks, and how to minimize risk as much as possible. --RAP (talk) 17:28, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
::(Can of worms incoming) Well, we do not underline anything except headers. Underline has been excluded from markup. It's a style thing. However, I can see on to play how it would be useful to separate, visually, the "Most valuable powerup!" type of comments from the "Tip" bullet points. However, those comments (e.g. "Most valuable powerup!") do not appear to need to be bolded at all (and thus should not be), so underline would not be helpful in this example. Unrelated, the value of those power-ups is subjective and up for scrutiny. An example would be better than such a simple statement. I would prefer to keep underline prohibited. Bold and the occasional italics is sufficient. -- 17:36, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
:::Notmyhandle, regarding the subjective value of powerups, I was thinking of getting rid of those as well, but don't want to get rid of the personality of what Procyon wrote; it's also because I'm not sure how Procyon would react to my rewrites (due to Procyon being responsible for writing it), and haven't heard from the user, even though it is expected that anything can be mercilessly edited. I could just de-bold and de-exclaimation it and merge it to the other sentence in the same bulletpoint (or get rid of it entirely), thus giving the player relief from the text calling attention whether or not it is relevant to the player's interests. I'm not sure what I said covers everything...I could be missing something. --RAP (talk) 18:20, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
::::As long as the basic meaning is still there I'm sure his voice/tone/style can be altered. The point is to improve the content, not just change its form (style or word choice-wise). I do not think unbolding those statements changes anything other than reducing them to the same status as the other words in the sentence. I also suggest improving those statements with specifics. -- 18:47, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
:::::I don't feel incredibly strongly about it.  I haven't agreed with every change RAP has made, but I have been supportive of most of them.  With regard to the Bomberman power-ups, those "most valuable" statements were made an observation how well they increased your chances to survive.  Although it wasn't intended to be subjective, it certainly does read that way.  Feel free to alter them as long as they communicate the same degree of usefulness to the player.  (Not sure why you linked to the history of an Adventure Island page instead of the Bomberman page in question?)  <span style="color:red">Pro</span><span style="color:grey">cyon</span> 01:39, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
Oh, Procyon, I was working on both of those pages before I was called out by Notmyhandle, and somehow plugged that link here instead of the other link when being called (and made tweaks based on NMH's feedback). Both of them were written by you before. --RAP (talk) 01:52, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
