You will get a glimpse of the road ahead as Crash runs toward the camera.

In this level, you must run downhill, away from boulders that cannot be evaded, in Indiana Jones style. You will be slowed down by fences and poles, so try to avoid those as well. Wumpa Fruit will eventually show you the best path. You will also have to jump over some holes, where strangely the boulder will not fall. Dotted along the slope are narrow tunnels that you can pass through, but the boulder cannot, so it stops. However, another boulder is waiting on top of the tunnel, and it will begin to follow you when you leave. Once you reach a tunnel, there's no turning back, since the boulder will block the entrance. Just escape from boulders until you reach the exit portal. There are no bonus rounds here.

Getting the gem[edit]

In this level you will have to break the boxes on the path as soon as you meet them, you cannot hold back, because of the boulder chasing you. If you manage to break them all and complete the level without losing any lives, you will immediately get a clear gem. In the N. Sane Trilogy remake, you can lose lives and boxes broken by the boulder count toward the box total, so getting the clear gem is much less difficult.

The time trial for this level is fairly straightforward, as the original level is quick even without time constraints. Simply run through the tunnels as quickly as possible (while destroying the time boxes inside) to continue the chase. Time boxes are also scattered along the boulder's path, but these can be skipped to save time, as the boulder rolling over them will stop the clock anyway. Also make sure to do small hops over gaps and fences (unless a high jump is necessary), as high jumps take more time.
